Some of the psychiatrists they use provide poor service and will blane you for lack of timely and proper correspondence. You will not receive a refund for this even if you never actually speak to any psychiatrist at all. Poor quality service with very little accountability.

We signed up with a therapist over a month ago. They responded once and then never got back to us again. We reached out for 12days. Not sure what happened but we are currently disputing the charge and going else where. Hopefully to a place that has a better response time and customer service.

I emailed CertaPet and informed them I did not receive my vest or ID that I had purchased. I was told that 90 days had passed and that due to their policy. My items would not be sent to me. I needed to purchase another vest and ID if I needed to get one. I never received an email, tracking information or anything saying my items had been shipped. So buyer beware if 90 days pass and you don’t receive anything. Then then your out of luck due to there internal policy that I as a customer was never informed of. I applied to renew my PSD letter one month before my prior letter expiration date ( I got a reminder email from Certapet saying it was time to renew, so I took action immediately). I noticed that the date mentioned on the new PSD letter is the evaluation date for this time instead of the original annual renewal date. My doctor mentioned that she couldn't change the date on the legal document, so I asked customer service to help me fix this problem. First, they kept mentioning that my annual renewal date had now changed to the new date, and I am the one who would be responsible for keeping track of this on my end as this is my prescription; they cannot request nor suggest what is best for me to do, so they cannot offer any solution. After I said what made me uncomfortable was that the reminder email they sent had never said things like that to the customers. The customer service just said she would make a note to the team, which is hilarious. Additionally, when I asked if they could help me to void the letter and I can reapply as my expiration date gets closer, the customer service said, "If you have already been approved for your letter, we will not provide a refund or cancellation as the letter has been issued and services have been rendered." They are not helping at all! So, please renew your letter when the expiration date gets closer; if not, you'll lose days or months on your letter! You're gonna know bad things also could happen to people who take earlier actions.

Absolute rock-bottom garbage. I applied and paid for a PSA. They sent an ESA. Customer service literally said that it was definitely my mistake, but that I could get the PSA after all. I would just have to pay again. (The supervisor told me that!) It took an hour of waiting and frustration in dealing with this company that is clearly not set up for customer satisfaction. Atrocious. I’m actually shocked at this garbage treatment. EDIT: After Certapet’s meaningless reply with a non-apology for the “inconvenience”, lowering it to one star from two.

Do NOT waste your time and money on Certapet! If you haven’t go see a psychiatrist already, your request will get rejected! Also the $40 consultation fee is non-refundable. If you already got rejected, don’t try again because you will get rejected AGAIN. 5 years ago I applied for ESA but got rejected by a LMHP because I answered No to her question “have you go see a therapist? Why not?” She didn’t ask me any other questions. Funny thing is, 3 days later I used another ESA site and got ESA approved by a LMHP. 5 years later I went to Certapet again to request for PSD. I used different email address hoping they would assign me to a different LMHP. Well it turned out the same LMHP called me again and rejected me for the same reason (she asked me the same question “have you go see a therapist? Why not?” After I answered no, she immediately rejected me). There is a $40 ($80 total) consulting fee that’s non-refundable. They made it sound like the reason for rejection is not due to not seeing a psychiatrist, but that’s the REAL reason. Once you get rejected, don’t try again because they will assign you to the same LMHP due to “conflict of interest “ they said. Also, they said you will hear back from a mentor health professional in a few days after you submit your application, but that didn’t happen. I waited for 9 days! I want my refund (including the $40 consultation fee)! This doesn’t make sense to me. If I’m seeing a therapist, I can get a letter for free! Why would I reach out to you Certapet if I’m seeing a therapist already? The answer I got from customer service is “well, some therapists are not licensed to issue a ESA/PSD letter”. Well, hello? Are you serious? A licensed therapist is not licensed to issue a letter? Are you kidding me!? Do I look like I’m easy to fool?

This was a terrible experience. I ordered a PSD consultation letter. My assigned therapist contacted me to ask if I had meant to order an ESA letter by mistake, I told her no I was interested in a PSD. She ended up not knowing anything about service dogs or laws for them in my state. She said she could only write a letter for a psychiatric dog to be task trained for travel only, and all psychiatric service dogs for anything else had to be gotten from a service program and were for "veterans with PTSD, and people who are on social security disability". None of this is true. The website is plastered with information about psychiatric service dogs, what various things they can be used for, and how they offer consultations to get one. Doesn't say anything about "travel only" service dogs, because there is no such thing, a pet dog doesn't magically become a service dog when its on an airplane and then go back to being a pet when its off one. Writing letters for that is unethical and illegal. So I reached out to their support about this interaction with the therapist with lots of detail, screenshots, ect. They responded and only asked what I wanted a PSD for nothing else, I told them. Couple more days went by and they responded with another one sentence email that they only provide consultations for PSDs to be used for travel. Which is not what the website, the screening process, and the place where you purchase the consultation say. I really don't even think they read the emails. It's NOT a PSD if its only a PSD when travelling. I cannot recommend them if you want a legitimate PSD consultation.

Prairie Conlon uses her certification to justify unethical practices. I do not recommend her as a clinician. She is blatantly condescending and will go to any means to get more money for her services, especially through CertaPet. I had a difficult and in short, traumatizing exchange with her in the process of getting my cat approved as an ESA. I can’t imagine she can have a professional demeanor during an in-person therapy setting if she can’t even behave appropriately over the phone or through email. If you are looking for an ESA, go literally anywhere else, talk to your PCP or fork up the money somehow for a real psychotherapist. Even if nothing came out of it and you request a full refund, the therapist will still try to keep $35. Don’t fall for technical language or intimidation tactics. There is good and ethical help out there, just not from Prairie Conlon or from CertaPet.
