This experience has been awful. I was recommended a service animal by my therapist but she was unable to write a letter so I used this service to register my dog. Amanda Williams has been an awful therapist provided through the site. She lacks any sort of customer service skills and lied to and took advantage of me and my money. I was told I could upload 3 additional forms for one price. The website only allowed one page to upload and when I reached out for help I was told a team member would contact me but she was unaware of how to work the website. I waited with no response. I reached out again a few months later after not having heard anything and was told I would have to pay again and there was nothing she could do, even though this problem was all due to the site and lack of team follow up. I then asked a supervisor to contact me and have been waiting about 3-4 days now to hear from anyone and still haven’t. I would highly advise everyone to stay away from this site and especially from Amanda Williams.

Company will lie and cheat you. They love to offer thing like gift cards and promo codes for honest paws, but its all fake. They offer stuff but you will never receive it beware. Scammers

My first experience with CertaPet was satisfactory. It went well, it was all done online and I was granted an ESA. My ESA expired 7 months ago and I neede to renew. I was given the same psychologist (Amanda Williams) but she denied my letter because she requested a phone call and I asked if we could converse further via email due to my extreme social anxiety. I did include that if that couldn't be done to provide a refund but I didn't suspect it would be needed as I used her last time (she has all of the notes) and I never suspected a professional to act this way against someone suffering. All of my answers were based off of my last ESA (as I am still feeling the same all across the board aside from more intense panic attacks and now entering me into a new realm of panic due to this experience). I answered questions like: "Do you need more/less sleep?" I answered NO, but that's only because I'm still only getting 1-3 hours of sleep per night as I did 1.5 years ago when I obtained my ESA. "Am I sadder/happier than usual?" No, I'm JUST AS SAD as I was when I did my last ESA. I feel that assuming someone is "fine" and denying them (after approving their first ESA) is unprofessional, invalidating and abusive. It's frustrating and upsetting because not only am I needing to travel with my ESAnimal in a month, but we're also moving overseas (along with 2 ESA dogs, 2 kids - one with special needs and his own ESAnimal). BE CAREFUL! My panic attacks, anxiety and depression has been heightened due to this experience. We will lose out of thousands if my ESAnimal is not allowed to accompany me on the flight. This could be catastrophic for us.

Sharing the email I sent to CertaPet's VP of Customer Experience today. I’m writing you as a long-time (3-year) repeat customer – that is finding myself incredibly dissatisfied with your current service. The airline form you sell for $99.99 is useless – unless folks are also willing to spend an additional $50 per airline for the custom form. This is a departure from years past: in years past, your product was ‘good’ – i.e., after spending $100, I could actually fly with Rusty. Now your folks will tell me you have no control over what the airlines require in order to fly with an ESA. I understand that. In a similar vein, my issue is not that you’re charging an additional fee; the regulations have changed / become more restricted, and you should by all means be compensated for the additional effort that is now required. My issue is that nowhere on your website does it make clear that customers should expect an additional fee before they are able to put their letter to use. I’ve attached my back and forth with your team. We will no longer patronize this company in the future that’s not upfront about what it takes to actually use your product. We would be delighted to continue to use your product if your company acted in a consumer-friendly way (that doesn’t feel like entrapment!) This involves indicating that your base letter is $100. On top of that, all major domestic airlines except Southwest require a custom form in order to fly. Customers should expect to pay an additional $50 per airline that they wish to fly with (again, excepting Southwest); each form is good for 1 year.

I contacted this company to obtain more details on their process. I found out that it does not appear that anyone checks the ESA "dog" let's say. You are just given a letter by someone on "contract" staff more than likely and wham bam, you have an ESA - Emotional Support Animal. So you take your ESA on a plane or in a restaurant, and all H... breaks out. Please go through the proper steps. Do your homework. Thanks for listening, Montana Big Sky Dog Training - Illinois

Let me first start off by stating that I believe even a one-star review is too high a review for CertaPet. When I had initially filled out my screening test I was charged twice for my ESA housing letter, thankfully this got remedied. Afterwards I placed a call to the CertaPet help line and Ariel was incredibly unhelpful and very passive in answering my questions, offering no further details or instruction for me. I was told that this is a quick process, however it is anything but. My "licensed" therapist did not contact me until five days following the initial submission of my screening. The therapist Gina White, finally reached out to me via email, although I thought it was strange she was emailing me on a weekend. I was told to contact her at a scheduled time and date. The area code she sent me was from Colorado, which I again thought was strange, as I had understood I was to be contacted from someone in my "area." About five minutes following my initial call, I received a text from the number asking who it was that was calling them and why. Again, I felt this to be very unprofessional for a licensed therapist. She did confirm that the phone number was hers but that it was her cell. Again, very unprofessional for a licensed therapist to be giving their cell. This is an incredibly inappropriate way of handling clients who are only seeking help, and looking for legit people to handle their cases. I am upset and frustrated that I spent so much time writing about my traumatic history for a company who does not care, and is just looking for some money in their pockets by swindling those with emotional health issues.

My neighbor in the mobile park committed suicide last year and was rejected by Certapet. I told her daughter she should sue but she's just happy to know the dog loved by my neighbor is still around to bring back good memories of her mom. These people have no heart and no moral compass. My neighbor was a retired vet who served in Afghanistan.
