Carrier Corporation is a global provider of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Founded in 1915 by Willis Carrier, who is widely credited with inventing modern air conditioning, the company has played a central role in shaping indoor climate control technology for more than a century.Carrier offers a broad portfolio of products, including central air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, ductless mini split systems, and advanced building automation and controls. Its equipment is used in a wide range of environments, from single-family homes to large commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, and data centers. The company also provides energy-efficient and sustainability-focused solutions designed to help reduce utility costs and environmental impact. In addition to manufacturing HVAC equipment, Carrier supports installation, maintenance, and service through a network of contractors and distributors. This service ecosystem helps ensure systems are properly sized, installed, and maintained for long-term performance. For consumers evaluating Carrier on a platform like Trustpilot, key considerations often include product reliability, system efficiency, installation experience, customer support, and long-term maintenance costs. Poorly manufactured Carrier furnace that didn't last 6 years
I had a Carrier furnace, model 59SS5B080E171116, installed in December 2020 and it has stopped working. It's not even 6 years old! I paid two different contractors, one that is a Carrier dealer Anctil Heating and Cooling in Portland, Oregon, inspect the until and both said the two heat exchangers are totally destroyed.
One described the failures as follow " Replacement heat exchanger under warranty. After removal and disassembly of old exchanger, multiple holes were found along with soot , corrosion and failed seals." Clearly, this is an example of a poorly manufactured product. The labor cost is $1500.00 dollars which Carrier does not cover. A furnace should last at least 15-20 years or up to 30 with maintenance. This furnace didn't last six years, piece of crap and I will never buy a Carrier product ever again.!!!

Very disappointed in the Carrier air…
Very disappointed in the Carrier air conditioner unit purchased in July 2023. I would not expect any parts to breakdown on a 3 yr old ac unit but it happened. The TXV valve had to be replaced with this part taking 5 hours of labor and labor is not covered under warranty. I have had yearly maintenance by the same company that installed the unit so not a lack of care on my part. After researching this part, it should last the life of the unit under normal operating conditions. This costly repair should not have happened! I do not recommend this brand.

Exceeding expectations
I love my system! I've had it for almost four years now. A two-stage Performance Series heat pump. Here in Florida, reliability and performance really matter, and my Carrier system exceeds expectations. My energy bill loves it too!

Horrible customer server from Carrier!
We bought two Performance 18, 2-stage units and had them installed at the beginning of Aug. It was pricey, but we wanted to upgrade from our older Carrier 1-stage units. The 2-stage units have been running less, and it has felt better inside our house. However, Sept 12th, that all changed. The smaller unit stopped cooling that afternoon. We noticed it just before 6pm, when it was 86° in our bedroom. Our a/c company is not open on Sun, so we had to wait ill Mon. Tech came out and found the compressor was bad. Something inside of it was clanging around, making it sound like a buzzer. Tues, the tech told us he was having issues with Carrier responding to him. I didn't hear from him Wed, so Thurs morning I asked for an update. He ended up calling me. He said Carrier was kind of fighting them, as they weren't believing the compressor had gone bad. However, the distributor told him he had overnighted a new compressor on Wed, and it should be there on Thurs. My tech was going to check on it at lunch time. About 1130, he called and said the distributor told him the part had arrived at the warehouse. He could have someone at my house around 1330 to start working on it while another guy picked up the compressor. Sure enough, another tech showed up at our house and started preparing the outside unit. Then our tech text me a screenshot of an email he received from the distributor saying he was mistaken about the delivery, and due to a delay in Atlanta, it wouldn't arrive until Mon. No way should we be going for over a week without our month and half old a/c unit!
That's when I decided to contact Carrier. I started a complaint, and the woman told me she was going to send it up higher, and they should be giving me a call before the end of the day. If they didn't, the office opens at 8am EDT, so give them a call. Surprise, surprise, nobody called me. At 0701 on Fri morning, I was calling them. The woman I spoke to was about indifferent about my ordeal as anyone could be. All she could say was sorry, but she couldn't offer any help. In fact, she told me that she would have to open an investigation, and by the time they started looking into it, the part was going to be installed. When she told me this, she sounded like it was such a drain to do, too. She kept asking me what was it I wanted her to do, which I told her several times, I want Carrier to get me this part I needed. She just kept arguing with me, and then started telling me there wasn't anything Carrier could really do. That's when I hung up. I can see Carrier just won't stand behind their products, which is fine. My wife and I both agree that we will never buy another one. This was a $30K mistake, apparently. We chose the wrong company.
For what it's worth, I did talk to the distributor. I don't fault my a/c company, nor do I fault the distributor. Both of them told me the hassle they had in dealing with Carrier. It shouldn't be that way. The distributor actually started looking into seeing if he could get me a whole new outside unit. Before we could get an answer on that, the compressor actually ended up getting delivered to my a/c company. They came out around 5pm today and installed it. Doesn't change how I think of Carrier now, though. Once these units need to be replaced, I'll be looking at Trane or Lennox.

We’re very sorry to hear about the experience you had with your new Carrier Performance 18 system. After investing in two new systems and expecting improved comfort and reliability, having one of the units stop cooling only about six weeks after installation—and then experiencing delays and conflicting information about the replacement compressor—is understandably frustrating.
We’re also sorry that your interactions with Carrier Customer Service did not provide the level of support you expected. You should not have felt that your concerns were being dismissed or that you had to repeatedly explain what assistance you were requesting.
We’re glad to hear that the replacement compressor was ultimately delivered and installed, and we appreciate you sharing the details of what happened. Your feedback regarding the communication between Carrier, the distributor, your installing dealer and our Customer Service team is important and will be shared with the appropriate teams for review.
If you would like Carrier to review your case further, please contact Carrier Customer Care at 1-800-CARRIER (1-800-227-7437). Please have your equipment model and serial numbers, installation information and dealer contact information available so the team can locate the appropriate records.
We appreciate you choosing Carrier and sincerely regret that this experience has affected your confidence in our products and service.

I have a Carrier hvac unit that is 30…
I have a Carrier hvac unit that is 30 years old and still in working condition. I'm going to replace it soon, but it has well outlasted the average life expectancy.

Response from CarrierSep 21, 2026
Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your Carrier unit’s serial number. It’s great to hear that your system has provided reliable service for so many years. A well-maintained HVAC system can sometimes continue operating beyond its typical expected service life, although performance and reliability can vary depending on the equipment, installation, maintenance, and operating conditions.
We appreciate you choosing Carrier and are glad to hear your system has served you well. When you’re ready to replace it, we recommend working with a Carrier dealer who can evaluate your home, existing system, and comfort needs and help you select an appropriate replacement.

Buyers remorse.
I installed 2 Carrier HVAC systems a little over 3 years ago. I have a maintenance contract covering both, so all maintenance has been completed according to recommendations. Yet both systems had to have the blower fans replaced within 2 months of each other. Not sure where they are sourcing these parts but they are trash. They covered the parts but I’m out over $1K in labor. My old systems had no issues for 20+ years. I’m regretting going with Carrier, they should cover labor as well for their inferior products.
Response from CarrierSep 15, 2026
We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand why having the blower motors replaced on both systems within such a short period would be frustrating, especially after keeping up with recommended maintenance. We appreciate you sharing this feedback and are glad our warranty was able to cover the replacement parts.
We’d like the opportunity to review your experience further and see if we can help. Please call 1-800-CARRIER with your contact information, the model and serial numbers of both systems, and details about the repairs. Our team can look into the equipment and service history and determine what assistance may be available.
