I appreciated the time CarePatrol took to educate me about choices for care and Chris was very knowledgeable. I did not like the pushing by CarePatrol to finalize the move in date when it was clear the decision had been made. It is also not clear that the home care aides at the chosen provider are adequately serving my husband’s needs or that the other residents are amenable to following the rules for a peaceful and calm environment in shared spaces.

I have already told you what I think - still no "sorry about your mom" so . .

Care Patrol, was sort of helpful. I think had our situation been a bit different, we might have had a better experience. One thing I found out after we had set up care patrol, is that HOSPICE also does this kind of house finding. The person who set up the homes to be viewed was late showing up. We ended up looking at homes number 1 and 3 (a few blocks apart), and 2 further away. After waiting for half an hour at the first home, I finally asked one of the people from the facility to give us a tour. Then we went to the third house, which was a horrible choice (so I felt like our CarePatrol person had not done any previewing herself. The home was smelly, dirty and some parts of it unsafe for elderly residents. As we were leaving that home, the person from CarePatrol finally called us. She was able to meet us at the third home. We were happy with the 3rd home. Honestly, I didn't feel comfortable with the way in which matters continued to go. I just had a sense that her underlying motivation was money. (you can always smell desperation) It's done, they were able to help us. In the end if we had needed to look past the 3 homes that she had arranged to show us, I probably would have switched over to using hospice as our agent to locate a home.

They were a little uncaring with regarding my aunt who is suffering with dimentia. Maybe the lady at front desk was having a bad day but she was a little bit rude on the phone and didnt answer my questions. Unfortunate experience.

It’s important to know that Care Patrol representatives refer to facilities in their own geographic area. My mom needed short term (respite care) Assisted Living after being in a rehab hospital 50 minutes from her home . Care Patrol made a referral close to the hospital, saying a facility close to her home was not available. This made it difficult for friends to visit or take needed items to her. Mom lives in Florida, I live in Michigan so I depended on Care Patrol to help me. In hind sight, I should have insisted on a referral closer to my mom’s home even though the person I was working with would not have received her commission.

I was happy to have some assistance when mom needed a complete lifestyle change. Guidance in the area was helpful. We ended up going where I wanted to from the start. But we saw some other options and it was easy letting them set the visits up. One thing I disliked was that they ignored our decisions on when mom would go to assisted living and had her evaluated for it when we did not want that. I was upset that because we worked with them they could control this. We did not put mom into assisted living for 2 more months when she was more prepared. Best decision we made. Use them but remember you know your family member better than they do.

I thought Steve from Care Patrol was very helpful and hands-on with getting my dad moved into Princeton Village. I am disappointed with Princeton Village though. My dad pressed his medallion several times last night because he was in pain. It wasn't until I called and complained that anyone went to his room! He had to go to the ER because his catheter was not draining properly. There is no excuse for them not checking on him earlier other than they are short staffed at night and/or they have negligent staff. Most of the assisted living places in the Tampa Bay area seem to be like this though. They just hire the minimum staff required by Florida law to make a profit. Resident care is secondary.

Anthony from CarePatrol was awsome. He was available all hours for anything and was able to place my mother on short notice over a holiday. He is still checking in with us to try to help make this a good experience. However, the move from a skilled facility to a respite care facility was troubled to say the least. Once my mother was situated at the Elmcroft Ontario things went downhill quickly. Her care there was definitly not of the quality I had hoped for. She ended up in the hospital twice in one night. There was an issue with her medication that should have never happened and was found and fixed by the family. She is now back to her old self and home with daily caregiving. She is now afraid to go to assisted living because of the experience. I would not recommend the Elmcroft to anyone. Anthony Coleman is a most caring and responsive person. He was a pleasure to work with and I'm thankful to him and CarePatrol for the job they do.
