There are legit people on there, but the system allows them to set their profile to auto respond. This means you will get many responses but if you pay for access, then take the time to follow up with theses people, none of them are interested in the job they didn't know they applied for (since they auto applied)
Response from Care.comApr 19, 2018
We appreciate your feedback, Lesley. Please note that auto apply is not an option available to caregivers on the site. they would have to manually click 'Apply' to send in their application. I apologize if you did not get enough responses to your job post. Feel free to email us at [email protected] if you have other questions or concerns you'd like us to address.

They have a collection of worst caregivers, the company has zero control over them. I hired this lady JOEANA C, she left me stranded between and no one to manipulate her, you pay $40 for membership(A literal waste). I wrote a review about her, looks like the page was removed, I am not sure if the lady deleted it or the company. She might have opened a new page and started cheating people again. She is the worst caregiver I have seen, zero energy(she is tired all the time) likes to sit here and there as if she is enjoying a picnic. Doesn't know to engage kids(I don't see why she opted to be a caregiver) She only needs money, no dedication towards her job. If somebody talks about care.com, just run and save yourself. Worst experience ever.

We're so sorry if you had a negative experience with one of the caregivers you've hired. We're glad that you've written a review on their profile to share your experience with other families who might be interested in hiring them, please note that only you could remove the review once posted and closing an account due to a bad review only to create a new one is against our Terms of Use. Please email us at [email protected] so that we can look into this for you. Thanks for your time!

Absolutely awful customer service. Sent them several emails which never got replied to. I paid to join up but it was a waste of money. I’d message every job that was available and suitable. I never heard any responses. Asked to cancel which was a difficult process and then asked for a refund on what I’d already paid. Still waiting for a response..... terrible company providing terrible service!!

So sorry you feel this way, Fiona. It is ultimately the family's decision to reply to the applications they receive although we advise everyone to reply promptly to their messages, we're so sorry if this has not been your experience. You can call us at (877) 227 3115 between the hours of 10am - 6pm EST M-F. You can also reach us on Facebook and Twitter and someone will be available to assist you on there too.

If you join Care.com be prepared to find it almost impossible to cancel your account when you need to. They offer no phone number to call (for any reason). I could not find any way to cancel my account online and I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to find a phone number....I guess one doesn't exist. Eventually after about 30 minutes more of navigating the website (and I'm very tech savvy) I finally figured it out. They use misleading and vague wording so it's nearly impossible to find where to cancel. As for the service, messages to and from caregivers don't transmit in a timely manner, your email will be inundated with every kind of care.com message you can imagine, the site is confusing, overly complicated and very difficult to use. On top of this, if you find a caregiver you like you cannot exchange phone numbers with that person. Care.com has set it up so you can only call a person through their system (falsely saying it's a safety issue) and that generates a charge to the person who is seeking a job. That is just awful to nickle and dime people trying to get a job. Use Craigslist. I've hired many people there and have never had a bad experience.

DO NOT USE CARE.COM !!! They now ask you to purchase credits to apply for certain jobs such as pet care. They are meant to credit you back credits for declined applications. What happens if applications are not actioned or declined by people seeking care. You get nothing!! I paid $7 to apply to 2 pet care jobs and received no credit back. A Supervisor will not call me back. Who has ever heard of any form of an employment assistance or organization charge job seekers for applying to jobs. Absolutely disgraceful, misleading and fraudulent taking advantage of people this way. USE SITTERCITY.COM or URBANSITTER.COM.. much simpler and easier to connect with those serking care. UPDATED REPLY TO COMMENT BELOW AS OF 23RD MAY 2018 Care.com continue to contradict their policies and mislead their users. My initial response from Andrew in March from care.com was that credits are purchased to increase the chances of the carer obtaining a position as to limit 5 applicants per job. In response below in April it is stated that credits are purchased to show that carer is serious. So which is it?? You should not have to pay money to establish that you are serious. Completely taking advantage of users and will say whatever is needed to attempt to protect their image. And here's the kicker...I contacted care.com and they will not give me any credits so whatever BS they are spinning in the reply below speaks for itself. As I said before check out SITTERCITY.COM URBANSITTER.COM and here is another one GREATAUPAIR.COM
Response from Care.comApr 19, 2018
We understand your concerns, Melinda. Caregivers are required to purchase credits in order to apply to pet care jobs, which in turn shows the family that you are serious about the position to which you are applying. If you've yet to see credits back to your account, please email us at [email protected] and we can help!

We're so sorry this happened. Once your account is closed, you wouldn't be charged anymore. Is it possible you have a second account? We'd like to get to the bottom of this for you- please email us at [email protected]. Hope to hear back from you!
