There was some trash outside the cabin and a BBQ fork stuck in a tree. The matress on the fold out couch was dated and uncomfortable. The washing machine did not work properly. I did let someone in the office know. Also, upstairs shower drain was not draining properly. Some of the furniture was damaged, I understand that happens, but repairing it or replacing it would look better. Thought the outside deck and entry way could have been cleaner. Quite a few bat droppings. I know it's the mountains, it just didn't appear to have been cleaned up previously. Overall the cabin was ok.

The fabulous family vacation that almost wasnt..
The cabin was gorgeous and beautifully decorated!! The beds were exceptionally comfortable, as well! However, it was not the original cabin we chose.....as we found out after the fact, these rental cabins are often simultaneously "for sale". Our cabin was such a cabin and we were notified via EMAIL at 11PM that our cabin was no longer available bc it had been sold. We were offered a refund. This occured a week prior to our trip which was going to be over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. You can imagine our dismay. After making several phone calls the following day, we were rebooked in a different cabin. However, after viewing it online, it was not as nice as the one we originally booked. So we called again to get it changed. We were accommodated and told that due to our inconvenience, we would be upgraded to a larger cabin for the same price. However, the new invoice didnt reflect this and we had to call, yet again, to correct it.
Like I said, the cabin was beautiful and we ended up having a great time, despite the initial stress.
Bottom line, though, if I had known the cabin was for sell when we rented it and all the stress we endured as a result, I would have chosen a different cabin rental company. Because of this, I dont think I'll be renting from them, again.
As a side note, we have been renting cabins in Gatlinburg for years. We have never had anything like this happen to us when using other companies.....

Toss up---Valley View House Gatlinburg
Valley View House Gatlinburg "Well, the house overall was nice, location was great and the view was beautiful however, the following list was completely unacceptable and avoidable:
-Ice machine in fridge was not working
-internet/TV was not working--internet never did work properly
-broken chair on balcony--had to carry out front, luckily no one was injured
-various outlets were not working
-light in shower not working
-towels were like using a washcloth to dry off
-steps leading to front door were a hazard at best, "fix it" guy tried to reinforce, told us would have the entire staircase replaced ASAP, never did, again, very lucky no one was injured
-hot tub was leaking--was told it wasn't by "fix it" guy, but it was as we had a stream of water on the deck each morning and the water level was below the jets even after not being used
-golden tee didn't work--never fixed
-3 out of 4 king sized beds were concave
-Theater room was non functional--never fixed
-nearly every remote for the TV's were missing the battery cover or not operating normally
-every knife was completely dull and couldn't cut a piece of paper
The office was notified upon arrival of the issues however, no work orders were issued. I arrived 4 hours later, went to the office and they claimed to have no knowledge of anything being reported. Then a gentleman arrived around 915 pm and what were we to do, turn him away? 2 hours later pretty much nothing was fixed, with the exception of the ice machine 2 days later I believe and the TV issue. If you advertise a 12 person house, why would you only have 1 refrigerator anyway? I realize we were there for the sites, etc but when we are paying over $3k for a week, all of the above totally could have and should have been avoided and addressed prior to arrival ESPECIALLY knowing it was vacant the week prior. Yes, we made do and enjoyed our time however, at this point, I can not say if the view and the size of the house really outweigh all the negative aspects including lack of response, attention to detail and basic checklist items which could have made it a much better experience. The fixes are so easy, it is a shame they were not addressed.

We stayed in Mountain Top With a View…
We stayed in Mountain Top With a View Too in mid-May. First, the problems we had. When we arrived the hot tub was broken and the cabin had not been cleaned well. Maintenance came for the hot tub but it still didn't work. They finally got it working mid-way through our trip. The dining room chairs were horrible. I fell backwards onto my back when the chair completely broke. Several of the other chairs were on the verge of breaking. The door knob downstairs completely came out. We did virtual check in so we NEVER received a welcome packet. Now, the good stuff. the cabin itself is nice. Beautiful view. Comfortable beds, except the queen sleeper. Probably ok for children. Allie with the leasing company was fantastic. She reimbursed us for inconvenience for hot tub and cleaning. We will definitely consider renting from them again IF we can go through Allie ahead of our trip.

Cabin itself wasn’t bad at all
Cabin itself wasn’t bad at all. Amenities were more of an issue. The shower/bathtubs were tiny and something I’d expect to find in a motel 6. The beds were by far the worst part of our stay. The mattresses were absolutely horrible and probably should have been replaced a decade ago. I’m not exaggerating, you could feel nothing but springs, and the noise from just the slightest movement could be heard in the other bedrooms, where the beds are just as bad. Internet wasn’t working when we arrived and neither was the clothes washer. Both issues were addressed but the internet, even when working was mediocre at best. These cabins get the job done if you are looking to stay around Gatlinburg, but for the price there are much nicer cabins in the area, I’ve stayed in several.

Not as expected
The description of the cabins was written by a word smith that did not stay there. I was just disappointed that compared to the photos and written description it was less than expected.

Big Bear Retreat
Check in was very easy. The staff was very professional and courteous. The drive to the cabins was also very easy. The area was very congested bc the cabins were so close together. Our cabin was in a bad area. If a vehicle lost control going downhill, this cabin would be destroyed!Parking was TERRIBLE and LIMITED at this cabin!
The cabin was great! It was nice and clean as well as spacious! The kitchen would have been perfect except it lacked cookware. There were mixer bowls but they we burnt and nothing to prepare meals such as spaghetti with. As for the first floor bedrooms the only thing needing attention was the right bathroom; the toilet was rocking. The bedrooms contained fireplaces and nice size tubs which was awesome!
The website makes you think that the cabin has a seperate media room; it DOES NOT! The media room is crammed into the top bedroom with twin queen bunk bed a futon and a two game machines! Very misleading! This room is designed for kids but is DANGEROUS in so many ways!
Downstairs was better spaced out. No complaints from the family downstairs except the game systems making noise all night. It was said to advise visitors to unplug before bed! The hot tub was a definite plus!
ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CABIN IN THE BACK, ITS TRASHED. THERE ARE THINGS FROM BEER BOTTLES, TO ROCKING CHAIRS, TO ALL KIND OF LITER. IT TAKES AWAY FROM THE BEAUTIFUL VIEW THAT THE CABIN IS SUPPOSED TO OFFER. THIS IS HORRIBLE AND NOTICEABLE AS SOON AS YOU WALK ONTO THE PATIOS.
Overall we had a great experience with the minor mishaps!
