Title Amazing hardware ruined by a subscription model that feels like a slap in the face
Title: Amazing hardware ruined by a subscription model that feels like a slap in the face I don’t normally leave reviews, but I feel genuinely let down and people deserve to know this before spending their hard‑earned money. I saved up for months to buy the Bushnell Launch Pro. £2,800 is a huge investment for me — not something I can just shrug off — but I wanted a proper home golf simulator and this device was supposed to be the perfect solution. And to be fair, the hardware itself is brilliant. Accurate, solid, reliable. I absolutely loved it… for about 24 hours. Then I discovered the part nobody bothered to mention: the expensive FSX subscription you basically need to make the thing useful for a simulator. This was never explained at purchase. Not in the shop, not in the marketing, not in the box. Suddenly I’m being told I need to pay a large ongoing fee just to unlock the features that make the device worth owning. I already pay for GSPro, and now I’m expected to pay a second subscription on top? It’s completely unrealistic for normal people who aren’t swimming in money. So here I am with a £2.8k device that’s essentially crippled unless I keep paying more and more. I can’t afford that. I thought I was buying a launch monitor — not signing up for a long‑term financial commitment. It’s heartbreaking because the hardware is genuinely fantastic, but the business model feels like a trap. If I’d known about the subscription, I would have bought a SkyTrak instead and saved myself a lot of stress. If you’re thinking about buying the Bushnell Launch Pro, please be aware of the ongoing costs. The device itself is great, but the subscription model makes it almost impossible for regular people to enjoy without feeling financially squeezed.
