Horrible customer service they hang up on you and they don’t listen. If you have a problem it’s your fault and you have to prove why they were wrong. They send a replacement and it’s not even what you called about. Sad they treat customers like this.
Response from Bulk ApothecaryNov 13, 2025
Thank you for sharing your experience, Michelle. We’re very sorry to hear about the way your call was handled and the frustration you experienced with the replacement sent. That’s not the level of service we aim to provide, and your feedback is being reviewed with our customer service leadership to address these concerns directly. Horrible customer service!!
Horrible customer service!!! I was ordering there for years and all my essential oils got ruined. The box was obviously dropped, they wanted an individually picture of each essential oil bottle. I had ordered over 400 and they are 10ml each!! Seriously!!!! Will never order again!!!
Response from Bulk ApothecaryNov 13, 2025
Thank you for sharing this, Lianne. We’re very sorry to hear about the condition your package arrived in and how frustrating the follow-up process felt—especially given the size of your order and the number of bottles involved. That’s not the experience we want for a longtime customer. Your feedback has been shared with our customer service leadership so we can review what happened and make sure situations like this are handled with more care and flexibility moving forward. We truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Oh my goodness so bad
Oh my goodness so bad! I received damaged leaking essential oils. When I told them of the issue they asked me to send the LEAKING ESSENTIAL OILS back to them! When I said that was dangerous I was told I was being "unpleasant" and that I had to ship LEAKING CHEMICALS to them for a refund! Unfortunately I will likely have to file a chargeback. I won't be back as this is my 3rd or 4th order and every order has had major issues. I asked for a supervisor to respond, so we'll see if they do better than Bray.
Response from Bulk ApothecaryNov 13, 2025
Thank you for taking the time to share this, Brittany. We’re very sorry to hear about the condition your oils arrived in and how the situation was handled afterward. You’re absolutely right—leaking essential oils should never be shipped back, and the way your concerns were addressed is not acceptable or reflective of the standards we expect from our team. Your feedback has been escalated to our customer service leadership for immediate review so we can address both the handling of your case and the recurring issues you’ve experienced with past orders. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and giving us the opportunity to correct it.

Absolutely the worst!
Absolutely the worst experience I've had in years! I would have given them -10 if I could here. Ordered an item on January 2, and according to the info on their website, it was supposed to be processed and shipped the next business day (Jan. 3), and delivered within the next 1-3 business days, so by January 8 at the latest. As I need the item rather urgently, this was the fastest turnaround I could find, and this is why I ordered from them. Big mistake! On January 8 (!!!) they informed me that they shipped the item. However, even as of today, January 10, the shipper has not acknowledged the receipt of the item. When I enquired what's going on, here's what the response was:
"Hi,
Thanks for reaching out to us. Your order shipped via USPS tracking 9405511202416494126644. I would expect that you should see movement/delivery within the next few business days. Sometimes the carrier doesn't scan appropriately upon transit. If you do not see any movement on the tracking by 1/14, please reach back out to us at that time. We apologize for any inconvenience."
1/14 just to see if there is any info on the tracking!!! Instead of promised delivery by 1/8! Feel the difference. Probably will never see the item. No effort to troubleshoot or expedite, no nothing. I submitted BBB complaint, as this is totally unacceptable. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Response from Bulk ApothecaryNov 13, 2025
Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback, Julia. We’re very sorry for the frustration and inconvenience surrounding your order—especially given that you were counting on a fast turnaround. Your experience with the delayed shipment notification and the lack of timely tracking updates is not the level of service we aim to provide.
While carriers can sometimes fail to scan packages promptly, we understand that this does not excuse the delay or the stress it caused, and we agree that clearer communication and more proactive support should have been provided. Your comments have been escalated to our customer service leadership so we can fully review what happened and address the gaps you experienced.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and giving us the opportunity to improve.

Toxic product
“I purchased a pound of profoundly falsely advertised "organic" Fo-ti Root Powder. The package I received from Bulk Apothecary literally states "WARNING: Contraindicated with diarrhea" and an additional warning that consuming this product causes lead exposure. The website does not contain these disclosures. I was under the impression that I was purchasing an organic product that is safe for consumption. The return policy states that the cost of shipping is deducted from the refund. I requested a shipping label in which the product may be distributed back to Bulk Apothecary without a shipping cost deduction due to the aforementioned warnings being completely unbeknownst to me when making the purchase.
Customer services representative "Jessica" responded as follows:
"Thanks for the follow up. We apologize for your dissatisfaction. As with many products, there are contraindications or risk factors. We do sell our products primarily for cosmetic purposes only. We are not a food- grade facility. As stated in our return policy, if you are unsatisfied in any way with your purchase, you may return any unused items within 30 days for a full product refund. Unfortunately, we will need to stick to our policy. You may use the pre-paid return label to return the Fo-ti Root Powder as previously provided. Again, our apologies for any inconvenience."
I asked Jessica for an explanation as to why I am being charged shipping for a product that is labeled as toxic, harmful and detrimental if consumed. The disclaimer was not disclosed on the website. It is unfair that I have to pay for shipping for a product that never would've been purchased.
Jessica stated the following:
"As with many products, there are contraindications or risk factors.
I responded that you ingest anything that you place on your body. A product that specifies that it contains lead, causes birth defects and reproductive harm should not have kosher and organic labels on it. If you are not a food grade facility why isn't this information included?
Jessica places the blame on me by responding in the following manner:
"Unfortunately, the return policy is not negotiable. In the future, you may want to contact our technical data department to obtain more product specific information."
The image of the product on the Bulk Apothecary website only shows a picture of the product. No mention is made of the toxicity of this product. Why isn't the warning included in the description of their products. How are consumer's supposed to know that they need to contact their technical data department? What you see isn't what you get. Proceed with extreme caution while purchasing products online with disingenuous vendors.”

Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. We’re very sorry for the distress and frustration this experience caused. Your concerns about labeling, safety disclosures, and the return process are completely understandable, and we appreciate you bringing them to our attention.
Fo-ti Root Powder, like many herbal ingredients, carries contraindications and regulatory warnings—however, those warnings should be clearly communicated before purchase. We agree that transparency is essential, and your feedback is being escalated to our quality, compliance, and product-listing teams so we can review and update the product information where needed.
We are also reviewing the interaction you described with our customer service team. Regardless of policy, our communication should always be clear, respectful, and helpful, and we regret that you felt otherwise.
Thank you again for raising these concerns. Your experience is being taken seriously, and we are committed to improving both our product transparency and the way situations like this are handled.

Worst experience
Worst experience, bad c.s rancid Shea butter and rancid organic rose hip oil which was expensive.
If you place an order and get rancid products like I did, you get screwed and have to eat the shipping costs, not only that but you have to make it a part time job going back and forth with customer service to get a refund!
I just received a “partial” refund today in the form of a check which I can not deposit because it’s not signed!
So back to square one with customer service again!
I had to overnight non rancid Shea butter from another vendor in order to fulfill my customers orders.
What a nightmare of a company, never again!
I wasn’t gonna write a bad review because I understand that things happen but this has really made me angry hence this review.
Response from Bulk ApothecaryNov 14, 2025
Thank you for taking the time to share this, Alicia. We’re truly sorry for the issues you experienced with the shea butter, rosehip oil, and the refund process. Receiving products that aren’t up to standard is frustrating on its own, but the challenges you faced afterward—especially the back-and-forth and the unsigned check—are absolutely not acceptable and far from the experience we want any customer to have.
Your feedback has been escalated to our quality and customer service leadership teams for immediate review so we can address the product concerns, the refund handling, and the communication gaps you encountered. We understand how this impacted your own customers and your business, and we regret the inconvenience it caused.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

Read reviews before even thinking about ordering. Wish I had read them first
RUN, RUN RUN!!!Lost several hundred dollar ordering from this company. Wish I'd read the reviews before ordering. All the beeswax pellets were burned! Horrific smell and ruined a big batch of my salves! SENT AND CHARGED ME FOR STUFF I DIDN'T EVEN ORDER!! Shipping was outrageous then I was hit again with a hefty customs charge. The shipping was well over $300.00 for $278.00 worth of their rotten products. Add another couple hundred dollars on top of that for the exchange rate, ridiculous.1st and last time I ever buy from them. Run!!!
Response from Bulk ApothecaryNov 14, 2025
Thank you for sharing this, Sandy. We’re very sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with your order—especially the concerns with the beeswax quality, the incorrect items, and the unexpected shipping and customs costs. We understand how frustrating and expensive that situation must have been, particularly with your own batch of salves being affected.
Your feedback has been escalated to our quality control and customer service leadership teams so we can review what happened with the product, the order accuracy, and the communication around international shipping and customs fees. This is not the experience we want for any customer, and we appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention so we can address them internally.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

Terrible bath bombs, no compassion from staff
We purchased several hundred clearance bath bombs which appeared to be a great deal at the time. Upon arrival, the bath bombs did not match the photos in the slightest, used different ingredients than any of their other bath bombs, were clumpy and mis-shaped, and were extremely powdery, despite the fact they were wrapped in cellophane. We requested a refund/return and were told due to the items being clearance, a return could not be accepted. The product page for the item does not state anything about no returns, and we were told they only place on the website where it states that clearance is non-returnable is in the fine print on the return policy page. Our order was also missing items, and many incorrect items were shipped in their place. We also ordered "Natural Potpourri" but the actual product received was artificially colored. This will be our last order from Bulk Apothecary, despite many years of doing business with them. Many of their bath bombs can be purchased from companies like Made Natural for a fraction of the price, with the same names, colors, and ingredients, and with free shipping. I am now our hundreds of dollars and have product that cannot be sold because the quality is so poor it would tarnish my brand. If Bulk Apothecary would have owned up to their misleading website information and accepted a return, all of this would have been avoided.
Response from Bulk ApothecaryNov 14, 2025
Thank you for sharing this detailed feedback. We’re very sorry for the experience you had—both with the clearance bath bombs and with the missing and incorrect items in your order. We understand how frustrating it is to receive products that don’t match the photos or expected ingredients, especially when you’re purchasing for your own business and relying on consistent quality.
Your concerns about the return policy, product representations, and the inconsistencies you encountered have been escalated to our quality and customer service leadership teams for a full review. Situations like missing items, incorrect substitutions, and unclear return information are not the standards we aim to uphold, and we appreciate you bringing them to our attention.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.
