Hands down the worst customer service. I’ve called six times and nobody can figure out the issue. Extremely difficult to understand their customer service representatives. None of them care about the customer

Would give them zero stars if I could
Would give them zero stars if I could. Just wasted 1.5 hours of my time on the phone with a Blue Shield customer service agent named Ronna who spent the whole time either putting me on hold or doing her best to obstruct the resolution of their $50 overcharge on a copay. We even got a Labcorp supervisor on the line clarifying that the $50 was an overcharge by Blue Shield for that visit and the mistake was Blue Shield's. Asked Ronna to help us resolve this or to get a supervisor on the line. She did neither successfully. After 30 minutes holding for a Blue Shield supervisor who never came on the line, the Labcorp supervisor and I decided to hang up. This customer service rep at Blue Shield, Ronna, is beyond incompetent. Worst customer service ever.

no way to send messages to customer service
For many years, Blue Shield has resisted implementing a mechanism that would allow subscribers to send secure online messages to customer service. This should be fixed!

I would give Blue Shield of California…
I would give Blue Shield of California Medicare Advantage ½ star if I could. With Medicare Open Enrollment beginning October 15 and continuing through December 7, I would strongly encourage anyone considering this plan to carefully research its provider network, access to care, and continuity-of-care policies before enrolling.
My experience has been extremely frustrating, and I have been fighting with Blue Shield for nearly a year to obtain appropriate medical care.
Until December, I was under the care of an orthopedic specialist and receiving physical therapy for a diagnosed hip condition. Following a provider network change, I lost access to both my specialist and my physical therapy.
I requested continuity of care so that I could continue treatment, but Blue Shield denied my request. I subsequently filed a grievance, which was also denied.
Blue Shield assigned me a new primary care physician, but I was told that the earliest new-patient appointment available is in September. Because I am enrolled in an HMO, I must establish care with a primary care physician before I can obtain the referrals necessary to see a new orthopedic specialist and resume physical therapy.
As a result, I have essentially had to start the entire process over while living with an existing medical condition. During this interruption in treatment, my hip condition has significantly worsened, and I now have substantial difficulty walking.
This is why I cannot recommend Blue Shield of California Medicare Advantage based on my experience. Medicare beneficiaries should understand that a provider network change can have serious consequences when it interrupts established specialist care and treatment. Before enrolling, I strongly recommend confirming that your physicians, specialists, hospitals, and medical groups participate in the plan and carefully reviewing what options are available if that network changes during the plan year.

Worst part is I have used the insurance…
Worst part is I have used the insurance very little over the yrs and it has truly gone straight to hell! They fight me and my dr’s on drugs and procedures and I very worried soon they will not cover my procedures or anything! Worst customer experience I have ever had. I was forced to wait over one week while they denied my needed medication for Colitos and i suffered greatly until
My specialist gave in and said go with two pills a day!! The pharmacist could not believe it that an insurance company could be a dr and know better then he what I needed. Wake up folks we are doomed with companies like this!!

5 Months, Still No Resolution – Now My Bill Is in Collections
Absolutely terrible experience! I've been trying to resolve one simple claim since the beginning of March, and now it's almost August. After nearly 5 months, it's still not resolved, and my bill has already been sent to collections because of Blue Shield's delays.
Multiple Blue Shield representatives confirmed that I was assigned to the correct medical group, and it also showed correctly in my member portal before my appointment. I relied on that information.
My grievance, signed by Shannon C., was denied even though I submitted extensive evidence, including screenshots, phone records, and the provider bill. The response even referred to the wrong provider and asked me to complete an "enclosed" claim form that wasn't even included.
What is most frustrating is that it feels like none of the evidence or documents I submitted were actually reviewed. I keep being asked the same questions and told to provide information that I have already explained and submitted multiple times over the past several months.
I've spent countless hours on phone calls, emails, and uploading the same documents again and again, yet nobody seems to review the full history of the case. Instead, I keep receiving generic responses that restart the process from the beginning.
This has been by far one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had with an insurance company.

Terrible experience
Terrible experience. I have had health insurance for decades with numerous companies and Blue Shield of CA has got to be the worst. Terrible customer service. 9/10 times IF you get to speak to someone they are so unhelpful that you wonder how the heck they got this job. The coverage is terrible with so many of my standard doctors unwilling to accept it, even though they take BCBS. I am stuck however because it is the insurance plan offered by my company. To make it worse, I live out of state and it adds to the confusion.

I hate this company
I hate this company I used it to pull out 1 of my teeth they only covered half my bill. Which was not a lot then I tried to fix a teeth and I was told by the dentist I was not allowed to use the insurance until December.. meaning I was paying 80$ a month by the time I could even use it again I would already be like 500$ in! And they premium only covers half this insurance is a scam they would not let me cancel my insurance until I paid a bill that I inquired about my account to cancel when I had no balance and they didn't help me but all of a sudden I had to pay. That's abusive behavior that needs to be reported they are a scam period
