Brought my dog to "Animal Referral Center" in Appleton,WI Sat.I wanted a
"consult and exam" for back pain "Willie" was suffering from. Called ahead and
got an appointment time, drove down and arrived right on time and followed
instructions (Covid-19) to bring pup in and place in cage in lobby and leave building
till called on cell ph. 1:30pm to make a long and not very pleasant story short,
our beloved pet sat in a little cage, hard metal floor,no pad when he's suffering
from back pain. and no water for over 6 hours(didn't see a water dish in any of the
other pens either)a exam that should have lasted 15-20 mins tops!! When I surprised
them by going into clinic before being called just in time to see 2 attendants trying
to give this little Shi Tzu with a wonderful personality a shot, they had his mouth
taped closed with Blue bandage tape! this little guy has never bit anyone.
The little guy was dehydrated and traumatized all the way home,we stopped and
gave him water with a syringe every 20 mins all the way home.He still isn't doing
that well today but we're giving him the loving care he deserves! The reason we went
to this clinic is because they have a C-Scan.and are supposed to be experts in this
field.(spinal surgery)
If you love your pets, stay away from this place. they only care about money

Horrible care and looking for money
Spent over $5000 and my dog received horrible care and I was told several times by Hnatusko putting her down wasn’t an unreasonable option. She was there from Wednesday to Friday and when I picked her up Friday she could barely move and looked horrible. By Sunday she was laying on the floor with her head up awake and alert. She was not given a medicine that I told them she was taking twice daily at all the three days she was in the hospital. The medicine is similar to an asthma medicine and the reason she looked horrible and couldn’t move was because she could barely breathe. After just two doses of her medicine at home she was back to being her normal self. The nurses and front desk people were nice and helpful and Dr Lamb was really good but Hnatusko shouldn’t even be a vet in my opinion. Oh and we have a paw issue and I was told Hnatusko would call me back and I’ve waited all day and haven’t heard from her. I said I wanted her as last choice but of all 3 doctors that saw my dog while she was in the hospital she was the only one that was in today. I had actually called last night and all 3 doctors were gone and was told the message would be sent to Hnatusko and she would be in at 8am and would call me. It’s currently 7:50pm and never received a call. This is what has led me to my review. Horrible care and very expensive. Wouldn’t suggest this place to anyone.

Come here if you want a failed $3.5k procedure!
We took our beloved cat Richard to this clinic to unblock his urinary tract. Immediately they requested us to deposit money before they even looked at our cat (their priority is money). Then Dr Mettenburg offered a $3,700 procedure. We felt like we had no choice to save our cat so we went through with it. 48 hours later, they called to say the condition came right back, UNDER THEIR SUPERVISION. He was suffering yet again, after this expensive procedure. We called other doctors and they were horrified and confused at our experiences. This place is a joke DO NOT trust them, they only care about money and not the well being of animals. The animal can die right in front of them and they won’t touch it until you pay money.

They get a 'one' only because I can't…
They get a 'one' only because I can't give a 'zero'. I'm a retired, disabled, combat Vet, and when my service dog was limping, we took her in. $600 and very rude service later, they tell us it's a torn knee tendon. Fast forward to our usual vet a few days later. Broken toe. Really?!

I wouldn’t recommend this clinic to…
I wouldn’t recommend this clinic to anyone. A 14 year old cat died after having a simple grooming, from this vet office.
The cat had mats and had a hot spot that was NOT causing any blood infection (verified by the vet) but mats needed to go so it wasn’t causing anymore raw spots. The vet verified “they don’t know what went wrong” — and “it’s possible he reacted to the sedation”.
They checked blood levels, heart rate etc etc before medicine and medically cleared him to be sedated for a small patch of hair being shaved (not even fully where other mats where).
His owners waited FOUR hours on the porch (due to COVID) waiting for the kitty. The owner or his family was not informed of any risks that could happen to their cat when given ketamine (if he did his family would of chose a safer drug and opted to demand to keep him there overnight).
They where NOT even given that option. In a heart beat he would of told them yes, yes, yes, if they wanted to keep him overnight.
Cat went in alive, came out drowsy, and never woke up again. The owner being a disable, elderly man. He spent his ENTIRE rent money (the bill $600).
His wife is in the hospital, just had a stroke — and is coming home tomorrow (paralyzed on half her body) to find out kitty, her and his emotional-support-animal is now dead.
He was the guy that sat on the porch from 8pm until nearly 12:30 am crying, and family reinsuring him that his cat would be fine. Saying he didn’t know what he would do if he lost his cat. He didn’t know if his wife could survive loosing the baby.
The vet office offered to cremate him “for free” but said to obtain his ashes it would be $350.00
The office was made aware of this hardship and (maybe due to policies?) couldn’t offer anything to soothe the grieving owner. Not even finance stability of the $600 (or half) of what he paid, knowing what him and his wife are facing.
The only thing I can say is the vet seemed honestly sad and heart broken. She herself seemed to grieve. It hurts to write such a review like this. But in good heart I could never recommend this clinic to anyone.

Zero stars if I could
Zero stars if I could. The most uncompassionate facility ever. They do not have the best interest of the pet or pet owner in mind. Please spread the word Don’t go here!! They took. $8000 and killed our dog. After they HIGHLY recommended this service. They wouldn’t let me see him before the service. Y’all they are sick people. She showed ZERO compassion when she handed me my 6lb Pomeranian that he passed. Incompetent. Lack of experience and SO VERY COLD. Don’t recommend RUN!!!!

I had an accident with my pet (dog)…
I had an accident with my pet (dog) late on a sunday night and when my boyfriend and I looked up emergency pet hospitals we came a crossed Blue Pearl Pet Hospital, due to the recent pandemic it was the only one open so we immediately got in the car and rushed her to the hospital. Upon arriving they took the animal into the hospital and refused to let us in. We had to wait outside to hear what they had to do next to start assessing her injuries, they called us and told us that they would keep her overnight to get her started on vitals and an IV beforfe they get the surgeon in to see if she needed emergency surgery and we agreed but they told us the price would be 3,000 to keep her for the night, we agreed and went home. The next morning they called us and said that the surgeon took a look and said they needed to do surgery, but that the cost would be clsoe to 9,000 and that they needed a deposit before they could proceed. I asked if the finance department could give us a break because it is a pandemic and I was unemployed and she told me unfortunately that was the cost to have to surgery for our dog. We took out 2 credit cards one was care credit the other was an USAA credit card, we charged the downpayment on it and they proceeded with the surgery. About 5 hours later they called us after the surgery and said it went well and that she would most likely would recover and be OK they did say they had to remove her spleen and a nodule near her spleen. We were delighted to hear that the poor baby made it through and was going to recover. They told us no news is good news we will call you later, they called us later and gave us an update that she was in stable condition. The next morning I got woken up by a call at 6:30 AM from the hospital that my dog had passed away. Unfortunately they said due to her injuries her lungs gave out and she did not make it. I then was left with a 12,000 pet bill that they refused to accomodate me with and a dead dog. I went on the website and saw the reviews of others and there were thousands of reviews that were similar to mine "paid a ton of money to this hospital to help get my furbaby get healthy and the animal is dead". This company is a factory for killing poor innocent animals and then leaves the owner with thousands of dollars in debt. I will not allow this to continue without bringing light to this company especially during a pandemic when the least someone needs is their animal dying. Once my dog had passed they then said they would need an extra $180 for the ashes and paw print, as if 12k was not enough. I agreed because I wanted the remains of my animal. We went and got the remains and a week later they called which was TODAY and asked if I was going to be picking up my dogs remains, the women that I primarily was dealing with is naimed DAISHIA, I told her I am not sure what she is saying because I already picked up the remains, and that I wanted to speak to a manager she put me on hold and then told me her manager was in a meeting and would call me back. This company is CLEARLY scamming people during a pandemic and trying to get as much money as they can out of people during the most vulnerable time in their lives. Furthermore I have a death certificate from them with the wrong name of my dog, afye 12k you would think they could the name of my dog right. if I wasn't so on top of things they could be scamming innocent old people that don't keep track of when they pay or haven't paid for things with this company. My request for the justice of my animal and everyone elses that have been subjected to this inhumane company is to please launch a full investigation as to the killing factory that this company is running and stealing peoples money.

Terrible Service and unprofessional…
Terrible Service and unprofessional staff. The waiting room is always lined up with pets and their owners waiting and waiting and more waiting. The only time they are efficient is when they make you prepay for services. They literally will not let you have your pet until you have paid the thousand (s) dollar bill.
My dog was released to me in her carrying case vomiting which is why we brought her in. They readmitted her after we were put in (yes, you guessed it) another waiting room, After waiting another 2 hours and vomiting six times they readmitted her. This facility is a nightmare
