We brought our dog to Blue Pearl for specialized testing that was not available elsewhere, and we are grateful for the diagnostic capabilities they provided. The tests they ran were critical to understanding his condition, and we acknowledge the importance of having access to that level of equipment and expertise. We also want to specifically recognize Matthew, a vet tech who went above and beyond to make an incredibly emotional and difficult situation as bearable as possible. His compassion and effort stood out in stark contrast to the overall experience, and we are genuinely thankful for him. However, we feel it's important for other pet owners to understand what the care model looks like here before making a decision during a crisis. This facility operates on a more traditional, clinical approach. Visiting hours are extremely limited, which means you are separated from your pet for the vast majority of the day and night. For our dog—who was critically ill and stressed by the unfamiliar environment—being separated from us compounded his anxiety, and ours. The focus felt primarily clinical; our pet was treated as a case to be managed rather than a life with a story and a family who desperately wanted to be part of his care and treatment plan. We understand that this is the model many specialty hospitals follow. But after subsequently transferring our dog to VEG – Overland Park, we experienced a fundamentally different approach—one where families are part of the care team, where you have 24/7 access to your pet, and where the focus is on treating the whole patient, not just the diagnosis. The difference in our pet's stress level—and ours—was immediate and profound. If you are seeking specific advanced diagnostics, Blue Pearl has those capabilities. But if you are looking for a model of care where you are included in the process, where your pet's emotional well-being matters as much as the clinical plan, and where you won't be separated from your family member during their most vulnerable moments, we would strongly encourage you to explore VEG instead.

We are grateful that our little dog looks like he is going to be fine. The medical side of the care, which is most important, was good. However, we were treated in a grossly unprofessional manner by the office staff, and the first doctor we saw, Dr. Caroline Andrews-Johnson. The office staff hung up the phone on us, and both she and Dr. Andrews-Johnson accused us of "yelling" at them, to justify the behavior, which never happened. The next doctor, Dr. Danielle Fraser, was very straightforward and reliable, and we are grateful that she ended up being the primary provider for our pet.

Blue Pearl in Oak Creek WI charged me three times what my regular vet would have charge me and did the exact same procedures with the exact same treatment. All of this on a standard Tuesday morning schedule. They promised to follow up with specialist internal medicine vet but never called back and my cat remains ill. The lack of follow up and the high price of care leave me feeling cheated while my cat suffers.

This animal hospital listed as emergency. Not really. I am waiting already over 3 hrs. With my dog. If you have an emergency try to use different one

Those of you that read my last reviews and thoughts On understanding Blood test and what the numbers Can mean First the veterinarian when talking about the blood test With you, normally goes over the high lows and normal Here’s where it get interesting let’s say the veterinarian said bun numbers are up or high . I don’t know about you but for me o o what’s wrong And the heart rate starts up But no problem the veterinarian said we can get it down . Ok great ,now if you were to understand possibly why the bun is up or be able to ask the why question and understand then great or take the test home and due your home work. Then call and get a very clear answer why the bun is up. Hum one possibly ,bun can be up because your pet is dehydrated. I like to believe the veterinarian do there best to explain the blood test numbers but at that time Just can’t take the time to go over each possible Reason for a high or low number. They very will may know it’s just dehydration That’s where you come in go home and read about blood test then call Please for your pet ,make no immunity decision cool off do your home work. And again I wish I know then what I know now Chances are my decision won’t be the one I made .

They are very expensive. Got multiple diagnoses from doctors there and once I picked up my dog who did get better. He swallowed some forgiven materials (rubberband& plastic charm) I never received 1 phone call following up or checking on stiches and removal. My primary vet called me about five times for the amount of money they needed to follow up

The vets at Blue Pearl are seemingly talented and competent. But the follow up communication is abysmal. They not only take forever to get back to you with test results, but fail completely to return calls that they themselves requested regarding changes in medications. I had to ask my primary vet to intervene and contact them for the information, but then they failed to communicate with my primary vet either. Ompletely unacceptable and unprofessional. I would take my dog there again in a life-threatening emergency, but not otherwise.
