The staff in Flint, MI seem friendly, for the most part. The machines suck, however. On my 4th donation,the return didn't work at the start, so I could give again at the regular interval. I asked what percentage of the time it happened and the guy said rarely. I went back twice the next week, and it happened again. This time I was deferred for 8 weeks. I am not dependent on the compensation, so it isn't a big deal, and I was still compensated both times, but if I continue donating, it will probably be with CSL, where I had fewer issues, just not as friendly a staff.

The process Biolife has in place works like a well oiled machine. The first appt took about 3 hours, because of their process, but after that the appts take about 90 minutes depending on the extraction process. Their app is also extremely user friendly and very helpful. While some of the phelbotomist do a great job there are some that i believe need additional training. On 2 occasions they have missed my vein by a lot, have had to move the needle once in my arm and blood has seeped out after the needle has been inserted. I have given blood several times over the years and these things have never happened. I have learned to asked for a more experienced phelbotomist.

It usually takes 15-20 minutes before someone hooks you to the machine and the same amount of time to disconnect you which is very inconvenient and adds 30 minutes to the process. Doesn't seem to be any teamwork..

The people that serve there are very kind and friendly, however, they are either understaffed or don’t have their system down very well. I spent 2 1/2 hours there donating the past 2 times I’ve been! It was more than an hour before I was even able to be seated and I waited quite awhile for them to come to my chair and get my donation started.

I didn't like that the young lady that hooked me up to take my plasma did it fast and walked away before she made sure it was working so I didn't get to finish donating and I didn't like that I got a coupon for a donation for 125.00 for 4 donation but they said it was no good and I just got it on 06/29/2023 but I like the ladies that takes the blood pressure and stuff they are very nice

I have been donating at Biolife for around 2 yrs. 99% of my visits have been without incident, but the last on my last visit which was earlier this week was awful. I had a new girl that was going to stick me! I cringe when I see new employees because honestly I don’t want to be the test subject. Anyways when she was looking for her location to insert the needle with the iodine stick I could tell immediately that she was not in the right spot. I told her 2 different times she was up too high. She proceeded to tell me that I had a really good vein right here. I said that may be true but it’s not the right spot. Well she stuck me anyway and immediately I begin to bleed!! She wipes it up and repositioned the needle and turned the machine on. Well every time there after when the machine was doing the return blood spewed from my arm. Several employees came and checked the machine, they slowed it down and still blood just kept pouring from my arm. Needless to say my watch band was ruined as well as the side of my pants and underwear because blood had also ran down the side of the wedge that my arm was resting on! I was beyond furious. No one said anything, not even an apology nothing. Next time I go in, if I got back I will be requesting a employee whom I’ve either had before, or the floor supervisor! Definitely was not worth 40 bucks, as I had more that than ruined..

My site has been very understaffed. I communte from 45 min away and do not like the 2 hour bed wait due to "not enough staff". Most staff are professional. However, there are inappropriate conversations by some staff. Things about how busy it is, how understaffed, how they are "not" being the floor supervisor "tomorrow". I understand venting and being frustrated, just please be respectful and know that we the clients, hear you. A couple of the staff like to joke around too much with each other and ignore the clients. The side conversations are distracting and take away from at hand tasks. My most recent visit, I was in a chair waiting to get my donation started for 20 min. The staff seem to jump around from their assignment to other assignments to address machine alarms and help start new donations. I wonder if it would be better to have 1 floater for alarms and to assist with starts while the others stayed in their assigned area. I had no beef until the past 2 weeks. In fact. I touted it as the most efficient healthcare place I had ever been to! Not as of late. Long waits, complaining patrons, complaining staff have me thinking I need a break from donating. Oh. And I forgot to mention the staff singing. The music is welcoming. But if I have to repeat my request because you are recalling 2002 song lyrics and think you are Mariah Carey, stop it please.

I can be a tough stick because of scar tissue in my only good arm…..twice in a ten day period the same person put the needle in and they had to stop my giving…I think they should have plebotomists that are specially trained for people with scar tissue. I am missing out on giving plasma for two months now due to two times not being able to return the blood into me. I love giving , not for the money, but because I am helping someone else. The Worcester site has mostly excellent staff and the time from beginning to end in giving is about 1 hr 15 minutes….much improved since I starting giving in October.
