On May 23, I went in for an alignment and a AC recharge at the San Tan AZ location. I was charged roughly $300 for the AC recharge, $76 of which was for freon I could buy for #30-40 bucks at Autozone. 5 mins down the road my AC started blowing hot. Took it back to Big O today, to the Florence AZ location and had it diagnosed for another $200 bucks, and they told me I literally needed everything! A new Compressor, condenser and evaporator expansion valve ect. For parts and labor it'd run me a cool $2700. They listed the Compressor at $900. I have searched all over the internet and the average price for a condenser for my Van is Under $200 with some as low as $50 bucks.
I don't care what Big O Tires have to say if they comment on this post, this is why people hate coming to mechanic shops, and why I prefer Mobile mechanics. I will never EVER go to Big O Tires again for any FFreaking thing. Trust I will share my experience with every person I have the opportunity to.
I have both receipts if I need to provide them to Trust Pilot as proof of everything I have stated.

I Am Deeply and Highly Disappointed…
I am deeply and highly disappointed after my recent visit. I had been a regular Big O Tires (the company) customer since I bought my first car many years ago. Then, the company’s technicians generously taught me about tires and tire care. The company was a brand I respected and trusted until recently.
I had a disappointing experience on January 24, 2026, after my visit to the San Rafael CA shop. Beware: this shop has a cancellation charge for its service advisor’s chosen inferior tires.
After I brought in a flat tire that could not be repaired, service advisor Marvin ordered two (AWD tires are replaced in sets of twos or fours) 99H Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Black Wall tires and kept my flat tire and wheel. Back home, I researched Marvin's chosen tires and discovered his tires, rated Speed H, UTQG Treadwear 600, Traction A, and Temperature A, are rated LOWER than my then tires, 99V Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II, Speed V, UTQG Treadwear 740, Traction A, and Temperature A. A V speed rating is superior to an H speed rating, and a 740 treadwear rating is superior to a 600 treadwear rating. I phoned Marvin and asked about the discrepancy. Marvin explained that Pirelli “no longer makes your Plus II tires” and ordered the regular Scorpion Verde tires. I told Marvin that he had downgraded two of my superior tires. Earlier in his shop, Marvin did not tell me about the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus 3 tires, which are the direct replacement for my Plus II tires. I asked why? Marvin said the Plus 3 is different and that I would need four new tires. Marvin stated that he had found the best tires for my needs, the tires he had ordered. However, the best tires Marvin had found were not the same quality as my tires at the time. I asked for better tires. Marvin replied that “there will be a $100 cancellation charge”. Marvin did not inform me that there is a $100 cancellation charge at the shop. A cancellation charge is not printed on my copy of the shop's quote. I kept the order over the weekend while I researched his 99H Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Black Wall tires, which clearly are not as good as my then-Plus II tires. On Monday, January 26, I cancelled the order and told Marvin, “I will order four Plus 3 tires at TireRack.com and [since you are a TireRack.com contracted installer] you will install the Plus 3 tires”.
Where were the Tire Rack Plus 3 tires? On January 27 at 9:01 am, UPS delivered the four Tire Rack Plus 3 tires in two bundles of two, tracking numbers 1Z5EA4490311549073 and 1Z5EA4490311549073. However, when I called and inquired at 9:32 am, an employee replied, “Tires haven't come in, there is nothing in front of me”. I inquired with UPS. At 10:31 am, the local UPS delivery station left a voicemail: “it (sic) was left by the roll-up doors.” When I inquired at 10:44 am, Marvin replied that the “tires are not here”. Finally, at 1:24 pm, Marvin called and said that my tires arrived, contrary to UPS's 9:01 am delivery time.
I brought this cancellation charge issue to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) as documentation and resolution of the company's business practices. The company stood by its cancellation charge in poorly written and poorly reasoned responses to the BBB. The company has never documented that it has a written or printed cancellation policy. Additionally, I disputed the cancellation charge with my credit card company. After three months, my credit card company permanently reversed the company’s cancellation charge. In closing, I will definitely avoid Big O Tires; it is not the same company that I grew up with or respected.

Untrustworthy and unprofessional
I normally don’t leave reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience with Big O Tires on California Oaks Road in Murrieta.
About two years ago, I brought my vehicle in for a wheel alignment. When I picked it up, it was immediately apparent that the alignment had not been performed correctly. The steering wheel was crooked, and the vehicle veered while driving, requiring me to return to have the alignment corrected.
After returning home and inspecting the vehicle more closely, I noticed several additional issues. My wheels had significant damage around the lug nut areas, including deep gouges and chunks of paint chipped away from the finish. This was far beyond normal wear and appeared consistent with careless handling during service. I also found a vape pen left inside my center console, and my floor mats were covered in grease and dirt from technicians’ boots. No protective floor covers had been used, which I found disappointing and unprofessional.
During that inspection, I also discovered that an inner tie rod boot had been damaged. I brought the vehicle back several days later, and the shop acknowledged the issue and replaced the boot.
Fast forward to recently, when I took my vehicle to another shop for a routine four-wheel alignment. During their inspection, I was informed that the previous repair on the inner tie rod boot had not been completed using the factory-style self-adjusting clamps. Instead, zip ties had been used, which eventually failed and allowed the boot to tear.
I returned to Big O Tires and explained the situation. During our conversation, I was asked what I felt would make the situation right. My response was simple: replace the inner tie rod boot correctly and perform the wheel alignment that would be required afterward. Had the repair been completed properly the first time, none of this would have been necessary.
Based on that conversation, I left with the understanding that the boot would be replaced and the alignment would be taken care of. However, after bringing the vehicle in, arranging transportation, being without my vehicle for the day, and dealing with the inconvenience of yet another visit, I received a call informing me that the shop owner would replace the boot but would not cover the alignment, and that I would have to pay for it myself.
After making multiple trips to the shop and spending time trying to resolve an issue that allegedly stemmed from a previous repair, I found that response extremely disappointing. The alignment was not something I was asking for as a favor. It was part of restoring the vehicle after correcting a repair that should have been completed properly in the first place.
What was even more disappointing was the attitude I received while trying to resolve the issue. I was repeatedly questioned about why I was bringing this up two years later, despite the fact that the issue with the previous repair was only recently discovered by another shop. Had the repair been completed correctly in the first place, none of this would have been necessary.
For some background, I am a car enthusiast, a cat enthusiast, a former Marine Corps mechanic, and I hold Toyota and Lexus certifications. I do not claim to know everything, but I have always believed in being honest, taking pride in my work, and doing a job correctly the first time. That is why this experience was so frustrating.
Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is how those mistakes are handled. It is disappointing when a customer is made to feel like they are the problem for bringing attention to a repair that was not completed properly. Just because time has passed does not make an improper repair acceptable.
The company promotes the slogan, “Trust Starts Here.” Unfortunately, based on my experience, I did not see the level of accountability, professionalism, or customer care that slogan suggests. Trust is earned by standing behind your work, owning mistakes, and making things right when they happen.
This review is not written out of anger. It is written to provide honest feedback and help others make an informed decision before spending their hard-earned money at this location. Do your own research and come to your own conclusions, but this was my experience.

For Clearlake location - terrible experience
For Clearlake location
First time, they did a good job, sold me two new tires - as my previous mechanic had NOT rotated them, probably ever.
However, second time - pretty big issues.
1. There was a tire noise after they rotated them. Took the car to Les Schwab because I’d driven to Ukiah and it wasn’t getting better, as they’d said. Found out a piece - the belt - inside the tire was broken. They showed me the effects on the outside, and said they would have caught it. BigO should have caught it.
2. I brought oil for the oil change (save visit, tire rotation addon as they sold me two). Not only did they not use my oil, somebody opened it - just a little - and I found a big mess on the rear floor. Not sure how I’ll ever get it clean.
These are both very sloppy things and a big pain for me, esp the oil.
Not going back, that’s for sure.

What the Hell is going on?
I took my wife's car into Big O Tires on Saturday 05/16/2026. It took forever for them to complete a simple brake light switch change, more than 4-hours. When I got it home that evening I went out to throw the trash in the trash can and noticed my brake lights were still on, they never went off and I ended up with a drained battery and had to catch a lyft to work in the morning. This is a bunch of BS. I will return tomorrow and see if they have enough integrality to make the appropriate repairs that they did not complete the first time I brought it in on 05-16-2026. The online service indicator is stating that they did not align the wiring or connections properly or the stop pedal is not in place. This is the first time this car has ever had these types of problems. If this is not corrected immediately I will take further actions and seek reparations for the time and money they have cost me with their mechanical insolence.

Buyer beware of hidden expenses....
Well, I should have checked Trust Pilot before taking my business to this firm. 2.3 seems too high a score to me!
I clarified three separate times "the price out of the door is $X..." - it wasn't. They added on "Alignment" charges of of $190... despite me asking upfront does it include Alignment - "yes"

Heather's performance as manager at Big…
Heather's performance as manager at Big O Tires is not meeting expectations due to unprofessional behavior affecting her leadership. The behavior includes lengthy personal calls after hours, inappropriate language, and derogatory comments about staff and customers. The store has potential but is hindered by management issues. Employees are frequently denied breaks and lunches and treated unprofessionally, contributing to high turnover. The requirement for employees to work beyond store hours daily indicates poor management. I suggest upper management look closely at Heather's management skills. Big O could be profitable and a pleasant work environment with a more experienced and educated manager.
