Wish there was an option for worst service provider. Can not imagine that there is this kind of support team that’s can’t understand the priority all they would ask you is to go for a upgrade or it’s not gonna work. Miss something important on the web that you have created for this long again pay for it. It’s like you don’t start using the platform keep on paying to develop the page.

Awful customer service
Awful customer service. I'm experiencing a store-breaking bug that's preventing me from making any changes to my store theme. Contacted support and was initially something they didn't even want to discuss as it involved custom themes. I eventually managed to explain that although I was running a custom theme, this bug COULD NOT be caused by it. They eventually referred me to someone else who, several days later, confirmed that they had reproduced the issue and it WAS a problem on their back-end. They just said that the issue had been raised with their engineers but they could provide no ETA for when it would be fixed. A week later I followed-up, having heard no news, and was told again that they can't say when it will be fixed and that if I'm in a hurry I would be better off setting up a new account and starting my store again from scratch. No offer to help migrate anything. Nothing. Just hand-waving dismissal.
Think I'll take my business elsewhere.

3 years ago I would have give…
3 years ago I would have give BigCommerce a ZERO. Their development was terrible, buggy, and not solving any issues. However they have really turned things around and I believe they have a great platform. There are still a lot of reasons I stick with BigCommerce instead of jumping to Shopify. There are pros and cons of each, but for my business BigCommerce has a few key features out of the box that Shopify doesn't have, even as an add-on.

Poor customer service experience.
I'm currently dealing with a billing issue. I downgraded the plan and instead of going to $29.95 a month they increased it to the Pro Plan at $458 a month. They admitted the mistake and 3 months later I'm still trying to get refunded. Really bad customer service experience and very disorganized, just got off a 42 minute phone call to them and still not resolved. I downgraded because we changed our store over to Shopify because they have better back end manual and custom order capability i.e. you can manually enter a custom item in seconds and email a customer the link to purchase or take credit card details over the phone.
Having used both platforms I would definitely recommend Shopify over Big Commerce.

Okay, for the most part
For the most part, BigCommerce is okay. I've used BigCommerce for the past 4 years (roughly) and have to say that in that time, I've seen some improvements to their features and they've added some things to their platform that I specifically asked for over and over again, for example, customizable status updates (Awaiting Fulfillment, Pending, etc. are now customizable). There are still a few features lacking, in my opinion, but overall it's pretty good.
Judging from all of the negative reviews, you're probably thinking I'm a fake reviewer. No, I'm quite real. My experience with them hasn't been as dismal as the others. Maybe I got lucky. ??
Support issues are ((usually)) solved in a timely manner. There was one time when all e-mails to Yahoo users were being bounced back to us as undeliverable due to servers at BigCommerce, and that lasted for about a week (FAR too long, in my opinion). We still got e-mails from Yahoo but couldn't respond to them without a bounceback so we had to call customers instead, which was a pain. With that said, every other customer support issues we've encountered with BChas been fine.
ProTip: As of 8/2018, if you CALL BigCommerce Customer Service, you get an American customer service person and it's easier to understand how to solve your problem if you're a native English speaker. If you chat, you might not, and you may get someone who doesn't speak English as a native. I hope this observation of mine doesn't change. I would hate to see them go the way of Dell, with all non-native English speakers for customer service. The people I talk to on the phone for customer service area always very friendly and *usually* know what they're talking about. If someone's new, they usually put me on hold and ask someone else or transfer me, but this has only happened a couple of times.
I have never used Shopify or Magenta's platforms, so I can't speak to their pricing or features, but for the low-low price of $200-something dollars a month, I get very powerful features and a nice looking website with BigCommerce.
OH, that's something I could mention, the pricing. So the pricing makes no sense to me. I was paying $79.99 per month, but after I made over a certain amount of money per year, the pricing increased to $249 a month for basically no other reason than I was making the money and they knew that they could charge me that increase. I think it's a shi**ty thing to do, but just be warned that if you're successful enough (like me) then you'll eventually pay a higher price for the exact same product and customer service you were getting at $80 bucks a month.
Alright, enough of my review for you guys. The features are nice and OVERALL, I would say my experience has been good with them. Hope this review helps you guys.

I canceled my account with BigCommerce…
I canceled my account with BigCommerce several months ago. They renewed it anyway September 7th, and charged my account $863.46. I had never even activated the service, which is why I canceled it. The other reason I canceled was that I suspended my business to raise capital. They have ignored my disputes and demands for a refund, and their cancellation system will not submit cancellation requests now which only adds weight to my complaint. Their system is wrought with errors. Ignoring customers is a very bad practice, especially when their system is clearly to blame for their failure to cancel. Furthermore, the internet is full of similar complaints, so I am not the only person they have stolen funds from.
