What an experience
The only decent part about this experience was Christian, who was obviously a salesperson, who told me that he was The moving company, and not a broker when I asked him directly, because I've seen this play out before. We spent over an hour on FaceTime, on the phone to get an exact quote, walking room to room, which came out to $12,900. We did a second call with my wife to go through things again and make sure that that would be pretty accurate. The day of the move, a random third party called South West Van Lines (see their reviews) showed up and immediately started saying how the quote was way too low and saying how heavy things were, and some things were going to cost a lot more and take way more space and we were and possibly looking at $24,000 :0 I've got stories for days about Southwest Van Lines, but this is a review about Best US moving. There's definitely a lot of miscommunication, and best U.S is not working directly with the actual moving companies because one company picked us up and then they took all of our boxes and couches and our entire house, and they unloaded it into a gigantic pod in the middle of a field in Frisco, Texas, and it sat there for 10 days as we tracked it with AirTags probably as they looked for a driver. So, Best US is not the moving company, and the company they hired to come pick up all our stuff in enterprise moving trucks was not the actual moving company. They were doing this piece by piece as they flew by the seat of their parents, obviously. We hounded them and everybody else about when our stuff was going to be picked up because we were under the impression that it was going to be picked up into a giant truck and moved to our new location WITH us. A separate company South West Van Lines came and packed up the truck and must have unloaded the pod into a semi-truck, which is what showed up at our destination. Overall, Christian was a nice guy, but had absolutely zero control over what was going on with anything related to our move, or who was showing up, and obviously his price was off by about DOUBLE and we were basically held hostage for almost two weeks sleeping on the floor at our new destination. And they told us the quote from best US that was $12,900 would be closer to $24,000. This might be how the industry works through brokers and multiple different carriers showing up, picking up, dropping off, storing in random pods and fields until somebody else decides to come pick it up, but that was never communicated to us at all. And the price on the quote and contract must have changed at least six or seven times as they added things and subtracted things. and tried to get us to sign it. Obviously, they want you to pay cash or cashier's check because they know you're going to try to charge it back because they're scamming you so hard. So, they won't let you pay with a credit card. They must have come up with three or four different excuses why we couldn't pay with a card. Tried to charge us a five percent fee to pay with it, and then said their machine was down and a million other things. Overall, Christian seems like a decent guy, but the people that are coming to your house aren't Christian. They're Russian people that are speaking Russian and trying to get as much money out of you as possible before they leave.
