For an even, steady mist on both sides, we recommend about 20% Eye Hydration Complex mixed with 80% water. The warmth is designed to stay gentle, around 40–42°C, so it's comfortable on the eyelids rather than hot. A full session should last 12 minutes, including the warm-up, before the mask switches off on its own. If yours is stopping around 5 minutes, try fully charging it first. On the heat, the mask's warm mist runs at around 104 to 107°F, so it's designed to sit right in that range. Mist can feel cooler on the skin than a dry heat pad at the same temperature, which may be part of what you're noticing. About the end of the session: with the sound turned off, the mask still switches itself off automatically after 12 minutes, warm-up included. Setting a 12-minute timer on your phone is an easy way to know when you're done. The inner mask coming loose and the leaking shouldn't be happening, though, and we're sorry it's been hard to put back with your arthritis.
