Sorry to say but you can't trust BECU because they only care about sales. The employees are absolute horrific people, and the atmosphere is, "we don't want you here unless you buy a house, car, or open a new account". They are nice to your face but lack sincerity, as they only care about what they can get from you. Hey, at least banks are honest when they steal from you. Overall, even though they do offer some great interest rates, you can't trust the employees. I have sat down with many staff, and they are nice to your face, but if you watch their body language or see them talking to staff, you will notice the arrogant smirks and inconsistent body language

Went to sign up for Bill Pay in my online banking account, which at most banks takes a couple of clicks. Not at BECU. The signup form for some unfathomable reason does not allow spaces in the address field, so I decided to contact customer support to let them know of the issue instead of trying to work around it myself. The support person "Julie R." proceeds to replace all the Os in my address with zeros, changes my state of residence to WV without changing the zip code, and tells me to sign up like that. I question these changes because now the address is incorrect, but she tells me to, I quote, "Leave the address alone." So I click Continue as she told me to and get a predictable error message that the state doesn't match the zip, which I relay to "Julie R." After waiting an inordinate amount of time for her to reply, she finally comes back with this incredibly unhelpful whopper: "After talking to Leadership, I have now locked you out of online banking." This incompetent must have gone to her security team and told them that a client was trying to sign up with an invalid address (an invalid address that she herself created, mind you, and that I told her was incorrect). Now BECU expects me to prove that I am not a crook by jumping through random hoops, and after spending several hours on the phone and video chat with them today, my online account is still not reinstated. Spectacularly bad!

Don’t be fooled here, employees treat you worst than the mainstream banks that have to provide great customer service. There was a time when they were great because they were Boeing Employees Credit Union. The true original meaning of BECU. A labor union and people united.

BECU credit is the worst card I have had in over 15 years. They communicate with you after the fact by at least over a week and by then they have already made some disaster decision and your credit will be impacted. If you have the poor judgement to bank with them and have a credit card they will take your payment out of your account at 10-15 days after the due date - not at 30 days or 60 days but 2 weeks late and they will turn into a pirate and take your funds without your authorization. Doesn't matter if you have other charges coming out of your account BECU is going full mobster/pirate and taking what is there's with no regard for your autonomy. The call center will not give any useful information. I called asking for confirmation of the payment that was pirated out of my account to pay their card and BECU could not locate the payment for a full week. I was about to transfer all of my banking to this credit union thinking it was regional and respected - this is clearly not the case in 2024-2025. Be warned!

BECU has gone way down hill. Have been a member for over 20 years but will change that soon. Horrible customer service, not member friendly it a cu I want to be a part of any more!!!

Non-existent merchant services (dedicated phone number, teller, agent) even though they offer business banking. I have had my business banking with BECU and discovered they charged my account $703.21 for a check written for $283.71 back in 2019. They said oh, it was a misscan. My accountant just discovered accidentally that Boeing charged my account twice for three payroll checks. If they had charged them twice at the same time, I would have seen it. But the charges were a month apart, appearing on two different months. There was no apology. They refunded eventually. I have 5 large charges to my account one week part and have no explanation of what they are. BECU is taking their sweet time to try and tell me who charged those amounts to my account. I have notified them that the initial splash photo on their business web site where a person's shoes are displayed in front of a beautiful vista is offensive. I said you don't put a pair of used shoes in front of someone's face. It is rude and undesirable, yet they continue to display it. Here's my biggest problem. If they are double paying the same check and showing them on separate months, that means they are doing it intentionally. I wish I could download the statements in excel format so that I can detect identical payments and find their errors myself, but they only provide PDF which is of no use when you have to read through hundreds of checks per month, over multiple months to find errors by BECU. BECU has been good for my personal account. It is just that they are not ready to offer business services and should just keep to personal banking and, from what other comments indicate, work on that to try and improve it for all of their retail banking services.

Wow, I have never dealt with a bank that actually lied to me over multiple days. This used to be an amazing place, but it looks like the doors are blowing of this hink of junk as well, if you have more than 250,000 you might want to check the news and look somewhere else. I will never recommend them again and am foolish for doing so in the past. Ripped up my cards. Good riddance, aweful.

This credit union was okay while we used it, but they are an absolute NIGHTMARE when you try to close an account. We struggled for months to close our accounts, and they're STILL requesting more faxes. Meanwhile, since they kept our credit card account open, we owed them 4¢. Yes, 4 pennies. Since they had closed our checking account and we don't live in the state any more, we had no way to pay them. We taped 4 pennies to the letter and mailed it in—but apparently no one opened this letter. They reported us to the credit bureaus, and now our credit score has tanked by over 100pts—for 4 pennies. And they STILL won't close our accounts. Nightmare. Be warned!
