I can not even explain my pain right now. My dog had a Banfield Plan for more than 10 years. First in Massachusetts and almost 1Oyeas in STAFFORD, VA (Stafford Market Place). I never had an emergency like that before, and I always take him there for regular appointments, check-ups, vaccinations, and dental cleaning. Yesterday morning, we woke up and something was not right with my dog. He could not stand and his body was cold. I CALLED Benfield and THEY TOLD ME to take him there. When I got there, the girl at the counter said that unfortunately, they could not see him. She even asked me if I was the one that called and when I said yes, she said unfortunately the doctor said you have to take him to another hospital, we can not see him today. My dog was in my arms and she just kept saying "the doctor said that you have to take him to another hospital". No nurses, no doctor, only the receptionist!! They didn't even check what was the problem! They told me to go there and when I got there, they refuse to see him!! Again, nobody came to talk with me. As soon as I got to the counter, the receptionist told me to go to another hospital. No nurses, no doctor, only the receptionist! So I drove again and took him to Aquia Animal Hospital in Stafford. My dog PASSED AWAY less than 30min. after we got there. Aquia Animal Hospital was just amazing. Everybody was so caring. They took him immediately! What BENFIELD ANIMAL HOSPITAL STAFFORD did to us today is beyond my understanding. They really just see you as a money maker. After posting this message in different locations I got A LOT of messages telling me that I was not the first one. A LOT of people had the same or worse experience with this place!!! DO NOT take your dog, cat, or any beloved animal to this place. BELIEVE ME! They just care about your money!!!!!!

HORRIBLE! I took my 8 year old German Shepherd in for a UTI. Got a call after dropping her off saying it would be 300$ later got another call saying 700$ when I went to pick her up they ended up charging me 280$. I noticed they gave me no meds no test results nothing. Because of COVID I had to call in and ask what was going on. They explained they were busy and didn’t have time to make her pee for tests so I would have to bring her back in in 72 hours with my own sample but they would let me know how her “work up” was once the doctor was free. Got a call from the doctor explaining the test results for what I’m not sure hadn’t come back yet. I finally called back a week later asking what was happening. Turns out I was charged 280$ for a check up they had the results never called to tell me and they still refused to give her pain meds unless I brought her back in for another 300$ Even though I had explained several times she was peeing blood. They didn’t apologize absolutely nothing. Ended up taking her to the per ER for 500$ they gave her pain meds antibiotics and weren’t too busy for her. This place is horrendous the doctors are horrible the staff is rude and a huge waste of money.

I called to cancel my Wellness plan for my cat in August of 2019, which I had put on my calendar the year prior to ensure that the plan did not renew. It was confirmed cancelled over the phone. I was switching vets because I was not happy with the vet experience. Very mediocre for what I had thought would be a less expensive experience, but that did not turn out to be the case. Unfortunately, my husband is the one overseeing the CC charges. So, I was not aware that they were charging us $40-50/month (They increase the cost for your wellness plan every year) for the past 15 months. I only found out because sadly my cat died and I had called around for private cremation quotes and theirs was the best. So, they told me when I dropped her off how I could go about canceling the wellness plan, and gave me the specific number to call, which is the same conversation I had with the front desk in 2019, and the same number I called in 2019. I just called them, trying to get it remedied, which the front desk had assured me they would do. They said especially considering the cat hadn't been seen there in 2 years. They told me that they had record of the call and of the agent I "would have spoken to" but apparently did not get through? That is most certainly not the case. They refunded me $200 for "this year's" plan, but not the remaining $600, because no conversation was recorded- just the logged call. Just ridiculous, as of course, I remember the conversation. I had put the event on my calendar to call and cancel on a specific date, prior to the renewal, a year in advanced. I am livid- insult to injury with the death of my cat. Had I'd known, I wouldn't have given Banfield another $230 to cremate my sweet cat. I would have paid more to have taken her somewhere that isn't robbing me.

Do NOT take your pet here! We took our 7 month old puppy after she was hit by a car and although they at first told us she was stable with just a broken leg, we were completely misled by the vet and front desk staff into believing she would die if we drove her to the orthopedic surgeon. Instead of allowing us to euthanize her, they suggested surrendering her to a rescue organization in our city and we reluctantly acquiesced because as far as they had told us, she had broken ribs, two broken legs, a heart rate that was dropping fast, possible internal injuries and a possible hip injury. Come to find out not even one hour after we left we find out that one of the employees had driven her to the orthopedic surgeon, decided to take her instead and set up a GoFundMe for her surgery for only one broken leg. We call the hospital and they are completely rude, telling us they can’t tell us if she’s alive or not because we “surrendered her”. In fact, we actually hadn’t. We never signed off on anything nor were we given paperwork to surrender so she was still legally ours. We informed the lady of this and she snidely says “Would you like to sign something?” We were finally able to get her back after 3 days since we took her and even after calling corporate to file a complaint, the chief of staff adamantly defended the employees’ actions saying they “formed an attachment to her”. Completely unprofessional, cheating, lying group of staff and corporate is no better. Don’t ever go here if you don’t want to go through the hell we did.

I signed up for Banfield because it was an affordable way to get my indoor cat his basic annual shots while I was in school. They are so unprofessional and uncommunicative. Luckily nothing has ever happened to my cat in their care but I am looking forward to the date I can cancel my plan (which I unfortunately just accidentally let renew). When I took my cat in a second time to renew a prescription I told them upon making the appointment and wrote on the papers when I was there that I need to renew a medication of his on top of the comprehensive twice annual check up. When they called to let me know what all they were going to do for him that day I had to remind them about the medication. I called around 5 when they said he’d be ready and no one knew what his status was. I was in a panic because I’ve heard horror stories. I remained calm and I called again at 6 and they passed me along for 30 minutes until someone finally told me he had been sitting in his crate ready to go home for over an hour so I rushed there right away. When I went to pick up, no one knew about his medication! I waited 30+ min for someone to learn something and finally they told me they can’t find his vet and they have no record of his medication so the vet would call me when they found out and to go home. Next day, no call, so I called them and they put in the prescription right then! What a mess. Today I am trying to make an appointment for shots. It won’t let me online and I’ve called 3 times. All 3 times it rang for 15 minutes and hung up on me. I tried the next day online and it let me. Then they call to say they overbooked and need to reschedule and call them back. So I call back and guess what.... rings 15 min and no answer! I am so upset I am stuck in this plan. I do not feel safe or secure when I drop my baby off with them and even getting anything done there is such a headache.

We have had there plan for years, they are alright when it comes to shots but for anything other like an emergency they are useless. I've had to take three pets to an emergency care over the years because they were to busy to see my pet for more than five days. Not acceptable at all, they shouldn't be able to call themselves Banfield Hospital.

Absolutely the worst! I had an appointment in the morning to "wait". They advised it would be a little bit so I went to grab a quick bite to eat and run some errands. Came back a couple of hours later and my baby was still sitting in a cage, crying and hadn't even been seen yet. They told me it was a drop off and I said it was not! They got nasty with me and the doctor told me he would be with my pet after seeing another one that literally just walked in the door. I already had anxiety leaving my pet in the back without me being able to see what's going on or what they are doing to my fur baby. THIS is the same location that had a groomer that was absusing and beating animals in their care so I'm really not to excited about this whole situation. Then to top it off, they charged me $100 to send xrays out because their vet doesn't know how to read them. I will probably be looking for another vet! And judging by their absolutely stellar 3.4 Google rating, I'm not alone!

Banfield Pet Hospital TORTURED and then ultimately KILLED the most gentle cat I have ever known, due to the malpractice of MULTIPLE vets at 2 of their locations - West Linn, OR and Portland, OR. 1) The 1st Banfield Vet we saw (Dr. Robyn Kasun) failed to diagnose our cats mouth and respiratory infections. 2) Dr. Robyn Kasun also administered 3 vaccinations to our malnourished cat (you should never ever administer even 1 vaccination to a cat in such a condition, as it heavily taxes the body and worsens all infections). These vaccinations almost killed our cat that very same night and are ultimately what led to his slow death 2 months later due to them turning his chronic kidney disease into acute kidney disease and causing irreparable damage to his organs. 3) The 2nd Banfield Vet we saw (Dr. Genevieve Currall) prescribed an IV fluid to administer to our cat daily for 10 days (to help somewhat treat the extreme damage the 1st vet had done to our cat) , but failed to tell us verbally or in writing, that the fluid, which is refrigerated in-between uses, needed to be warmed up to room temperature before administering it to the cat. Failure to warm up the fluid, resulting in injecting very cold fluid directly into his skin and against his bones, is incredibly painful, as we learned later. It was an agonizing procedure each time we administered it to him and we could tell something had to be wrong; but unfortunately only learned later about it. 4) The same Vet also told us that our cat needed to wait at least 1 year until having his teeth and mouth taken care of. We later learned from a different vet (not associated with Banfield) that this is malpractice and our cat should have had his teeth and mouth taken care of immediately, due to the intense infection which has been taxing his now acute kidney disease. 5) Our cat ultimately died due to the 3 vaccinations that had caused severe damage to his kidneys and organs.
