Hi Anaïs,
We're sorry to hear about your concerns, and we'd like to clarify a few important points about our service.
First, Ozempic is a prescription-only medication in Indonesia, as confirmed by the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM). As a healthcare platform connecting patients with licensed medical professionals and trusted pharmacy partners, we take these regulations and patient safety seriously. We also encourage patients to seek proper medical guidance and ongoing monitoring when using medications like Ozempic, as appropriate prescribing, dosage adjustments, and follow-up care are important for safe and effective treatment.
Regarding pricing, BaliDoc is not simply a pharmacy selling medication. Our initial consultation with an English-speaking doctor is completely free. Our medication delivery packages include prescription handling, sourcing authentic medication through our pharmacy partners, pharmacy coordination, delivery directly to your accommodation, and ongoing patient support and follow-up.
The quoted price therefore reflects the complete service, not just the retail cost of an Ozempic pen. We understand that medication may be available at different prices elsewhere, but our service is designed for patients who value professional medical guidance, convenience, and reliable support while abroad.
We also offer a prescription-only option, when medically appropriate, for patients who prefer to arrange their medication independently.
All prices are communicated before payment, with no obligation to proceed. We use established payment providers, and our team is happy to verify any payment link before payment is made.
We understand that our service may not be the right fit for everyone's budget, and we respect that. However, we want to reassure you and others reading this review that BaliDoc is a legitimate healthcare platform committed to facilitating safe, transparent, and professional medical care.
We would be happy to discuss your concerns directly and clarify any misunderstandings.
Kind regards,
The BaliDoc Team

Don’t use this service for weekends.
I didn’t bring my meds overseas as I didn’t feel I’d need them when on holiday or that it wouldn’t be this difficult to obtain a prescription- ive had no issues on either of my trips since November; however granted both consults were in person with a regular prescriber. Which is generally more expensive than an online consultation.
Make sure you bring a medical report with you overseas to Bali or don’t use this service on a Saturday when you don’t have access to your normal clinic in your home country until Monday… especially regarding treatments for anxiety or ADHD.
Other services are more reliable, as they will try to charge you $75USD. Last 2 trips in Bali I was given a script in person without issue.
Just be aware of this, likely just pushing to a $75USD appointment.
I’m familiar with prescribing laws of this country.
This is not a budget issue, it’s outlining the push to an unnecessary consult for a medication that doesn’t require a psychiatrist.
As someone that works in health this is a red flag. I myself own a clinic and manage prescribers.
I do understand the limitations to prescribing and online prescribing; these just don’t apply in this case.
Just not good for a Saturday when you can’t contact your clinic for days, so you’ll need to deal with anxiety and no sleep until then.
48 hours can be a very long time.
Just use another service on weekends, took 20minutes. Don’t pay the $75.
I was suspicious when they said “free consult” and sure enough they tried to push to a $75 USD consult.
General in-person cost for a psychiatrist appointment in Bali for travellers is also around 500,000 IDR. So be mindful of this too.
Edit: to respond to the reply.
The fee is excessive, other online providers charge 300000-550000 IDR.
My appointments were in person GP.
I called another service and received my prescription within an hour after the consult with the dr.
I believe there is a duty of care to patients and reviewed the prescribing laws, as I myself work in health.
I understand any potential limitations but this wasn’t a scenario where those applied. This is also reflected by me contacting another service and receiving my medication.
$75USD for an online appointment in Bali I certainly couldn’t justify, I believe this service is just taking advantage of travellers; as mentioned I did suspect this was the case given the consultation was free. They have paid a lot into marketing so their SEO is high. Just take the time to click other services.
Main issue is that it’s a weekend and cannot contact clinics back home- but also it felt like the clinician was also looking for reasons to push to the psychiatrist which didn’t follow the prescribing laws of Bali or apply as a restriction.
I respect your hustle. It’s just my duty to make sure other travellers don’t get into the same situation and think they need to stress out when they can’t contact their clinic for days, and then pay a huge fee- when they can simply just select another service.
Best of luck with your clinic though!

Hi Andre,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are genuinely sorry that you felt unsupported, especially while dealing with anxiety, insomnia, and the stress of being overseas and away from your regular clinic in Australia. We understand that in this situation, 48 hours can feel very long.
We would like to clarify that our free 20-minute consultation is real. It is designed to help patients understand what is medically and legally possible in Bali. In many cases, we are able to guide patients and resolve their request during this free consultation without the need for a paid specialist appointment.
Some mental health requests require extra care, especially when they involve medication categories with stricter prescribing requirements, larger quantities, or limited supporting medical documentation. In these cases, our doctors may need supporting evidence such as a prescription record, medical report, or even a screenshot/email from the patient’s usual clinic before advising on the appropriate next steps.
In your case, our doctor explained that additional supporting evidence would be needed to proceed responsibly. We understand this can be difficult when your clinic is back in Australia and unavailable over the weekend. When this evidence was not available during the call, an online psychiatrist consultation was discussed as an alternative pathway for specialist assessment and guidance.
We also understand your comparison with in-person psychiatrist appointments in Bali. BaliDoc’s service is different from a walk-in local clinic. Our service is online, English-speaking, traveller-focused, and designed to help patients access medical guidance from their accommodation without needing to search for a clinic, arrange transport, wait in person, or navigate the local healthcare system alone.
The fee reflects not only the consultation itself, but also the convenience of online access, doctor availability, English-speaking support, follow-up assistance, coordination, safety checks, documentation review, and the extra care required when supporting international patients. Many of our patients value this combination of convenience, safety, speed, and follow-up support, and feel that it fits the price of the service.
At the same time, we respect that every patient may choose the service that best fits their situation and budget. We are sorry this experience felt frustrating, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective. We hope you were able to get the support you needed.

Terrible service
I scheduled an online consultation with the doctor and waited in the conference for 20 minutes… but no one ever showed up.
My time was completely wasted — deeply unprofessional and incredibly disappointing. I cannot recommend this at all.

Hi Vasilisa, thank you for your feedback, and we are truly sorry for this experience. We completely understand how frustrating it must have been to wait for your consultation and not have the doctor join. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and situations like this are very rare for us.
As soon as we became aware of the issue, we tried reaching you via email and WhatsApp chat. We also called the number provided, which was picked up by your husband, as we were genuinely trying to reconnect and make things right for you as quickly as possible.
We would still very much like the opportunity to resolve this and support you properly. Please feel free to reach out to us directly, and we will prioritize your case and ensure you receive the care you expected.

WHY CHARGING IN US DOLLARS and FEE SO HIGH?
My general practicioner doctor wasn't much help to provide me with a prescription for a common medication that i'm running out and instead told me that I needed to get a consultation with a psychiatrist for USD 75 just to get a prescription. Was quite annoyed that Balidoc is charging IN US DOLLARS in Indonesia AND USD 75 is about 1,250,000 Rupiah which is a very high / huge amount in Indonesia for a simple consultation (only around 250,000 to 400,000 Rupiah MAX for locals). For an online service, it's a big rip off the fact that Balidoc is charging in US DOLLARS and such a HIGH FEE just for a consultation which DOES NOT even include prices for the drugs.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
For clarity, all patients at BaliDoc first receive a free initial online consultation with one of our general practitioners. In many cases, prescriptions can be issued directly at this stage.
In this situation, the medication involved falls under a regulated category in Indonesia that requires specialist oversight due to safety and interaction considerations. Under local medical regulations, this type of medication cannot be prescribed or renewed by a general practitioner, but is commonly prescribed after an online assessment by a licensed psychiatrist.
The psychiatrist consultation fee covers a fully compliant specialist evaluation in English, conducted entirely online, without the need to visit a clinic, wait in queues, or navigate the local healthcare system. Once a valid prescription is issued, we can also coordinate legal prescription handling and medication delivery directly to a hotel or villa, which many international travelers find especially helpful.
We display pricing in USD for transparency for international visitors; the full equivalent in Indonesian Rupiah is shown before payment. Medication costs are separate, as they depend on pharmacy pricing, dosage, and availability, and this is communicated in advance.
While we understand how stressful it can be to run low on medication while traveling, we cannot bypass medical safety standards or local regulations. Our role is to ensure care that is safe, appropriate, and legally valid in Indonesia.
We appreciate the feedback and hope this helps future travelers better understand how regulated prescriptions are handled in Bali.

Huge upcharge on the medication
These doctors way, way, way overcharge for prescription medications. They wanted USD 300 for a 1 mg pen of Ozempic. My current doctor was unavailable, and I am leaving for a trip. The price for Ozempic on Bali Island is around 2.5 to 3 mill ($150-$190) per pen. I mentioned the correct price to the doctor, and she told me the price has increased since last week. I left the consultation without the meds and sourced it elsewhere for the normal price. I would be very careful using this service. The prices seem inflated.

Hi Sabina,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really sorry to hear that you were disappointed — we completely understand how important clear communication and pricing are.
Our doctor mentioned that the consultation was unfortunately cut short, as you exited the session before it was finished. Because of that, there wasn’t enough time to go over all the available options — including the possibility to receive just a prescription, so you could source the medication yourself if you preferred.
Just to clarify, the USD 300 you mentioned isn’t just for the Ozempic pen. It includes the full service: medical consultation, prescription, sourcing of authentic medication, delivery to your location, and continued medical support — all designed to provide peace of mind and convenience for those managing their health while abroad.
We’re genuinely sorry to hear that our pricing wasn’t within your budget. Our team is dedicated to offering high-quality care and professional service, and our prices reflect the value and expertise we provide.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback — it helps us improve and communicate our services more clearly. If you’d like to talk more or have any further concerns, we’re always here for you. Feel free to reach out by email at [email protected] or message us directly via our website.
Wishing you all the best,
The BaliDoc Team
