I ordered from them to get a female uromastyx that I was planning to put in my hot greenhouse. The greenhouse does not work for plumeria so I turned it into a desert habitat instead! It can reach up to 80-90 most of the time, sometimes 100. Though I might put a heater in there for extra measures, anyways, I ordered her and she was very malnourished. She’s also very flighty and runs away if I go up to the cage. She has gotten used to me though overtime, but I still can’t really handle her because she tried to jump out of my hand. I presume she’s wild caught in addition to the fact she barely eats. After that I saw many people complaining of the same things! Frankie (the lizard) is doing a bit better now, still somewhat small, now that I know I’m never buying from them again. Do not make the same mistake I did.

Awesome experience! Always answered questions quik and true Thanks for the garter snake it came alert and full of life we love him!!

My snake showed up withen 24 hrs of shipping but thata were the good service stopped. My snake out of the box was half tarded and couldnt close its mouth. With n a week it died durring its first shed, by that time it never closed its mouth. I e-mailed back water several times including pictures and they kept comming up with reasons why they couldnt send another snake or refund me. In the end they basically told me to go F myself. I have friends who own reptile stores all over but I wanted to try BackWaterReptiles against a couple of theirs advice. BackWater Reptiles is not even close to a safe bet, dont order from them unless you want to watch your new pet die!

I ordered a gift for my brother (a Greenbottle Blue tarantula sling) through Backwater Reptiles and I couldn't have been more pleased with how things turned out! They worked with me on getting the little Miss/Mr to Phoenix even though I'm in Chicago, and were very responsive throughout the entire process. As for the little buddy, he/she arrived safely (and a few hours early I'll add) and is doing great! My brother was ecstatic and I'm a proud Auntie! I will absolutely be doing business with them in the future. The only thing I didn't care for was that they don't have a dedicated phone line, and when you call it says the mailbox is full. However, like I said before, they answered every email very promptly (less than an hour) and were very helpful thought. They have a wonderful staff, special thanks to Sam, Katherine and Abbey!!!

I purchased a Russian Tortoise and it never shipped. I sent a message asking why and they said they cancelled the order. That they don’t ship to Alaska. They never messaged me to let me know. I only got 2 receipts and a your order is being processed 2 days after purchase. Their website says they ship to EVERY state except Hawaii. Bad business.

This company rips people off! I ordered a snake from them that on their website says was in-stock. I then get a email from them saying that it's not in-stock and offered me an adult female boa. I emailed them back several times asking them questions about the female boa and a price difference. When they finally returned an email to me since their phone goes to a voice mail then says that it is full and hangs up, saying that a price difference is 200 dollars more they want me to give them. I told them I did not want it and to refund my money. Well they send you a transaction receipt from a third-party saying that it was refunded. A couple days go by and the money was removed from my bank account. I contact backwater reptiles to find out when and where my refund is. They respond saying it was never refunded that it was voided so no refund is needed. I reply saying the money was taken out of my account so a refund is in order. I get another email from a different person saying that it was in fact a refund and that it's an issue with my bank.. I replied that I have contacted my bank and it is not an issue with the bank but with there company. I advised backwater reptiles that I was filling a police report for this. The money was taken out of my bank account and was never returned. This company is a scam and is ripping people off right and left. I have emails and bank statements proving my facts.
