I ordered a green iguana and a tortoise from them. I only got two receipts after ordering them and then two days later a email saying my order was being processed. they emailed me a day later to tell me the iguana couldn’t be shipped to Florida. They tried getting me to buy a different kinds of animals. And they kept asking for card information. They don’t answer the phone it goes straight to voice mail and says their voice mail box is full. And they don’t even answer through email. I asked for a refund but they don’t answer back. Do not order from them they just scam you for money! And for animals they don’t even have.

I had no problems from them...they responded to all my emails....beautiful green boy iguana was delivered to me. Yeah I do understand that they have over 5000 people they have to respond to and they can't respond to emails within the days that yall want they responded to me within 24 hours like the next day I had no problems with him if you ask questions they respond I told them don't trust because of the reviews and they responded back today and they are made sure I had a healthy iguana like it's all about communication if you other if you buy something off the Internet and not tell them what you want exactly how you expect your animal you can't expect them to be the way you want. He came the day that they say he was going to come and understand the trial shipping free because these are LIVE ANIMALS.....NOT A PAIR OF JEANS IN THE MAIL.

Absolute worst customer service, asked for a delay in shipping within an hour after order on Sunday was told purchase had shipped at 330, it was 1240 on the west coast, was told i should read their shipping schedule better.... Would not work with me at all, avoided questions. Repeatedly told me I was pushing a false narrative and that they wouldn’t tolerate lying about their service... all well before the conversation made it to a review... 4 on the west coast label just created for shipping, they absolutely could have worked with my request but chose not to and tried to silence me with repeatedly stating I was pushing a false narrative. I’m not a politician, I’m a customer... remember what those are??? I will not purchase from backwater reptiles ever again and recommend no one else does either.

Tries to sell stock they don’t have and make you pay more for a different item. They may seem legit but they will try any way they can to charge more for a cheap reptile, they charge $40 for shipping when in reality it should be $15 as per the FedEx shipping cost so for example: $60 corn snake would be $105 including shipping which is already a huge scam alone. They will ghost you via email if you try to ask for a refund during refund period then say refund expired.

Responsive people, healthy animals. Another great experience.

I ordered a Veiled Chameleon, I was surprised how small, cute & perfect she is. She came in a small insulated box, she was safe and alert. Overall great service, the one problem got taken care of quickly. I would recommend to many.

I tried to order a second baby chameleon as well as some feed for my baby chameleon that I had. First they contacted me on the day my order was supposed to ship because I used my boyfriend's visa card for the purchase and made me verify his identity and didn't get back to me for a day. Next they made me go through multiple hoops due to me living on a multi unit property including sending proof of residence. After that the following day they said that my address was too confusing and to just pick up at the FedEx facility and sent a confirmation message. followed by a message an hour later saying that they cancelled my order and to reorder the items and when I complained all via email I should mention with no way to reach them via phone. They completely ignored my concerns and just replied with "Hi Chloe, This order was cancelled and not approved, just to clarify. Thank you, Backwater Reptiles, Inc." Showing their complete unprofessionalism. I'm very disappointed and wouldn't recommend them on the basis of a lack of professional behavior and if they can't treat a person right I can't find it in myself to believe that the treatment of their animals would be far superior.

I ordered a giant day gecko which was delivered DOA. The creature had clearly been dead prior to being sent and was clearly defrosting after having been in a freezer. I'd say customer service is horrible but there is NO customer service whatsoever - they can quickly take your money from your order but do not send email responses or answer the phone when you need assistance (it just goes to voicemail with a full mailbox). I discovered many reviews of this companies dishonest business dealings and most reviews recall nightmarish experiences! This is a scam business! I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I HIGHLY recommend you to report them yourself!!
