My son had saved all summer to purchase a tarantula as a pet from Backwater reptiles. It arrived 8 hours later than it should have and was dead on arrival. Backwater Reptiles did nothing for a refund. Had the package arrived on time it would have been below 90° outside. But because it arrived later in the day the temperature had risen above 90° and the tarantula died. My son was devastated. This company has zero accountability. I wouldn't trust them with anything.

Sent us a sick uromastyx. It lived for a couple weeks before it died. Explained it arrived sick it never had energy from day 1 etc. They offered us 20 bucks off a new one. What a joke. Buy local people.

I have made multiple orders with Backwater Reptiles. Mostly feeder insects, always got well fed, live & hydrated bugs. So, I decided to order some leopard geckos. I got a beautiful mack snow and a chocolate albino, both arrived in a clearly labeled box, well packed and both geckos were perfectly healthy! Started eating & drinking that evening once they settled in. They even wrote me after I placed the order to tell me which day would be best to deliver on, because they checked the weather forecast. I will continue ordering from them in the future.

Great company! I ordered a cane toad and a budgetts frog. They came to me fast but unfortunately the frog was dead when I got it but the cane toad was healthy and frisky!! I advised the company asap about the frog's demise and they wanted pictures of it which I had no problem doing. Any customer that's honest will not hesitate to send pics if this company requests doa pics. Once they had the pics they were very apologetic and refunded me the money for the frog. I didn't get the shipping cost back and I didn't expect to. It wasn't there fault the frog didn't make it. I will order from them again. To me they are a trusted company! Everything was smooth as could be, Even with heat wave happening Geckos arrived in great shape, active and hungry, very similar to photos idisplayed, One tame as could be other calms down quickly when handled properly. Thanks for such a positive experience was quite nervous after reading complaint reviews on line, very good experience will order more in future

Ordered a pixie frog arrived dead the frog was packaged poorly!!! They should of never shipped this frog out in this heat!!!!!! The person I was talking to acted like she knew everything and didn’t!!! Do not buy from these people they are terrible people!!

There is a phone number, which they will never answer. You can pay for an order and expect it but it will be days before you even receive an email as to why you heard nothing nor received anything. Worst customer service of ANY company.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. I made the mistake of getting some supplies from them. Thankfully I didn't go through with ordering a Tarantula. However after days and days of nothing. I reached out multiple times. After a while of them ignoring me and failing to refund me after stating they will I had to go through my bank to get my money back. Backwaterreptiles tried scaring me away with doing a charge back. I have all the emails. Do not deal with them.
