I purchased a diamond with a GIA certificate. The first several I attempted to buy either were alredy sold (list does not update frequently, I guess) or were determined not to be of sufficient quelity, certificates notwithstanding. Maybe this excess of quality control is a good thing (I had thought a sound GIA certificate would suffice, but they claim many had occlusions and black specks notwithstanding that). Upshot: It took several tries, over several weeks, before a stone actually was shipped. Credit card companies needed to be assuaged. Possibly a small amphibian was sacrificed, I don't know.
