Be warned - incorrect extra charges that they are trying to avoid refunding.
Be warned - I would strongly advise not using Avis. We travelled from UK and collected a vehicle at O'Hare. All pre-paid via British Airways. Initially all good, however after travelling approx 250 miles and stopping for night, we realised the despatcher at O'Hare had not given us, or we could not find, the key. Being "start / stop" the vehicle had kept running, but after stopping, it took us 90 mins virtually stripping the inside of the car to try and find the key, which was somewhere in the vehicle, as the push start started the engine. The key was eventually found in the tiny gap between centre console and drivers seat, where it is impossible to get your hand . This was very distressing. on our return to Chicago, our car was hit by a large "turkey". This caused some damage to the bonnet / front of the car. This was explained to the person who checked the vehicle in on return. It was unavoidable. However we had paid the extra insurance cover for such incidents. Upon return to UK I discovered Avis had charge $631 to my credit card, which must have been for this damage, even though I have explained 3 times now that we had insurance cover, they have not reversed the charge. BE WARNED , THIS IS A PLOY BY AVIS to try and obtain extra fees. Be warned.
