I contacted this company in early…
I contacted this company in early November to see if they could help me troubleshoot my device. They told me to purchase a new device from them because their phones are deeply discounted and a huge upgrade over what I currently have. It took weeks to receive my new phone which was horrible. The consumer complaints against the device they sent me are off the charts.I contacted them immediately and they assured me that they would send me a different phone and return envelope. Weeks past and they sent me the same exact phone that I had complained about!!! You really can't make this stuff up. I brought both phones to FedEx and watched as the employee packaged up both phones to return. I'm elderly and immunocompromised. I literally have spent hours and hours and hours on the phone with this company only to be told a they never charged me for a phone and they never received the return phones! I have documentation for all this (tracking number and credit card statement). A supervisor assured me he would resolve this and make me whole! Just another lie. It's just really difficult when you're old, alone and trying to navigate. The experience with this company has been downright abusive. This has been going on for months. I finally contacted my credit card company so they could start a dispute.

I just want to say that I am very…
I just want to say that I am very grateful for the lifeline program. Assurance wireless has been....overall, not bad. The customer service people, for the most part, seem competent,.scripted, but so so. My issue is with the problems you face trying to upgrade your phone. Not free either. I'm perfectly willing , and did, pay for what was promised to be an upgraded phone. Even though a description couldn't be provided. Luck of the draw type thing. So, I end up spending $70 on my Deb card for what turned out to be the same exact phone I already had. Now, it's not a bad phone, for free. It has issues though, ergo, my unenthusiastic expenditure to acquire better. So I call customer service, relay the problem and am told I won't be able to upgrade. Now I'm going thru, waiting to go thru, the refund process. So, the Schok SV55 is the apex of this companies product list. I was hoping that T-Mobile coming onboard would up the upgrades, but alas, no. And teasing about an online store to shop for a phone is just cruel. So, adequate to poor phones with no shot of upgrading is kind of sad. People say you get what you pay for, but I can't even pay for it either .

Ok, have only had my phone for a couple of days. Got it booted up yesterday and found they gave me a phone number for Tacoma WA, I live in Iowa! I called them and the so called 30 sec wait is actually 20 to 30 min. I gave them all the info needed to transfer my old number to my assurance phone, it never happened. I called back the next day, had to talk to yet another person, probably also in the Philippines and had a terrible connection. I finally got it that I need to call from a 3rd number about the transfer. Not sure if I'm going to or wait the 2 months and change companies, third option is to cancel it all together and get a cheap burner phone. I'll see if it's possible to find one who's company has customer service reps in the USA. I really don't need this aggravation.

Extremely Unreliable
I just got my phone and not only can I not activate it, but the number has a Dayton area code and I am in Cincinnati. Also, when I try to call 611, the phone hangs up automatically like there is no service in my area. What is the point of sending a phone that I can not use? I needed this phone to stay in contact with my family, doctors, and SSA after having some really hard times financial while waiting on a disability claim. I guess I won't be able to reach anyone at all.
