Prices are suppose to be vat included according to T&C. Accepted full price of an artwork on the platform which should have been vat inclusive then made actual payment outside and had to pay vat on top at customs. Artsy simply says that since payment was not done through their platform they have no responsibility despite the quoted agreed price was accepted on their platform. They know about these scams but don’t do anything to either block scamming galleries or force reimbursement. Unethical and not trustworthy. In the below comment Artsy said “I chose” but it’s false. I made the offer on artsy and then the gallery directed me elsewhere so I trusted. The fact artsy don’t remove this scammer vendor from the platform says it all on how artsy really works. A place were scamming galleries operate without impunity.

Purchased two Works from Artsy.net. On my second purchase I had to email artsy.net and the seller countless times from 9/14-10/18 and still have not received the correct items. I have tried to call the seller and artsy multiple times with no response. Spent $3,000.00 in total and received the worst service out there! Customer support is completely useless! Never using again!

If I could give negative stars, I would. I placed a purchase on 9/19 hoping to receive my shipment by 9/23. It was impossible getting a hold of anyone for a shipment status update. I was not able to receive word from anyone until I filed a claim with my bank. Then magically my purchase was shipped. I am working with their team to try and get a refund but will see how that goes. Let’s hope they don’t ghost me and ignore my refund request. My dispute claim through my bank is still pending. I’m hoping to resolve this amicably through artsy and not have to force my bank to force their hand. Let’s hope this issue gets resolved. For now, I will never make another purchase on this site and will never recommend anyone to use this fraudulent website.

Absolutely appalling experience. Lied to me multiple times about the limited time some pieces would be available for. Misinformed me multiple times regarding the nature of the works. Never updated me with expected delivery times. I paid for a piece of art 6 months ago and still haven't received it. Promised it was coming this week. Nothing. Avoid at all costs.

I have tried to place on Artsy two adverts for artworks for sale on behalf of my gallery Amos Achilles Art. I was informed by automatic email that the adverts were under review. Since then, despite my chasing up by email twice, I have heard nothing (and the adverts have not appeared). Phone calls to the London office are met with the message that the Artsy voicemail is full, followed by, bizarrely, a thank-you for using the voicemail service. I would be grateful for some response from Artsy at this point - even if it is a rejection. Dr Jeff Amos

I was so excited when I came across artsy. I have sent 3 emails asking a question and I have received no answer! For 17.99 I received a piece of paper showing specifics on what kind of cement to use. I feel that this is a real rip off and that I have been misled and this is just another way for her to make money. My View is that she just does not care about personally answering customers questions who happen to take an extreme interest in her projects. I have been misled and I thought that this was a personable kind of company that would answer consumers questions on the projects that artsy explains. Very very disappointed——just another vendor who doesn’t care.

We received three unauthorized charges and had to complain to our bank to get them reversed.

I purchased a unique art piece through Artsy for an agreed price. It took nearly 2 months after I payed for “the piece” to arrive. Upon opening the crate, a less expensive piece from the same artist was sent to me. After 2 more months of excuses, I was told the piece I purchased was no longer available. No help from Artsy to make this situation correct! The shipper was David Hamilton and he was dishonest throughout the process and then went silent about correcting the situation. Artsy and David Hamilton are a sham and not to be trusted for your art purchases . Bait and switch situations are not common and the best way to fight back is to be vocal and let others know the truth. I do have my money back, but the art piece I purchased never did surface and no explanation received. My recommendation is to avoid Artsy and David Hamilton when purchasing your art.
