A Sad Ploy
I was approved to bid on an item, which I did and have done many times before. Then at the time of the auction I was disapproved. My guess is because I began by placing the minimum bid, and they actually expected more. This is not the first time this has happened with them. It's either a sad ploy or misrepresentation.

Don't expect to be informed about what is happening
Absolutely no communication about what was going on. We weren't even sure we had actually made the purchase and the piece would be sent to us. We finally had to track down the gallery where the piece was and reach out to them to find out if the purchase went through and where the piece was. We have purchased pieces from all over the world. This site by far gave us the least confidence.

Update on my Artsy experience:
Update on my Artsy experience:
The customer service rep said Artsy would be refunding the change in the price of the painting, but only $52.34 off of shipping (they had charged $790.01). She also addressed my comment about UPS telling me that shipping was $385.23 (UPS measured my box at the UPS Store). The rep said that Artsy‘s shipping team found instead that the shipping was actually $986.64, so unfortunately, Artsy was not going to be able to refund more. And the rep included a screen shot of the UPS website showing how that charge was calculated.
I was about to email back, saying thanks for that info, and, agreed — from my own check on the UPS website, I could see that the price was indeed what Artsy told me, and correct is correct.
That $986.64 quote also made me think they’d actually given me a break on the original shipping, by only charging $790.
And now, refunding $52 on top of that, I thought, Ok, settled.
But . . . Then I looked one more time and saw that the box dimensions Artsy used to get that screen-shotted shipping price were not the dimensions of the box I received.
The box that I actually received was
5 x 30 x 43. I put that into the UPS calculator. The UPS charge for shipping that size, plus now adding insurance, came to $439.40.
But the dimensions Artsy put in (9 x 36 x 50) were larger. That made the UPS shipping calculator show $986.64.
That’s a difference of +$547.24.
This made me wonder how they got the shipping price they originally charged, $790.01.
Even that original charge, compared to the actual cost ($439.40), was still $350.61 over.
So either way, however they worked it, Artsy was billing me the shipping cost for a box that was substantially larger than the one the painting actually arrived in.

Hi Sara,
Thank you for your reviews.
To begin, we'd like to apologise for any confusion regarding the updated figures of your purchase. As Artsy is a marketplace facilitator, we advised you that we cannot provide an invoice as it would need to be the gallery, as the seller, that provides this. However, we appreciate that you were looking for a breakdown on the new total of your purchase, and our team has since sent this to you.
Regarding your shipping costs, we can confirm that the gallery opted to use packaging that was overall smaller than what was recommended by our shipper. The shipment was billed at the bigger size which has caused this discrepancy. We appreciate that this was out of your control and we appreciate why this would raise concerns with the total cost. Our team will contact you today to discuss a fair solution to this issue.
Lastly, we can confirm that our team processed your partial refund last week. Please allow up to 5 working days for those funds to be reflected in your account.
Thank you again for leaving a review. We hope you are satisfied that our team has addressed and answered any concerns you have, but please do reach out to us again if this is not the case.

Waste of time and money
Reviewing as a gallery owner.
First off... it's way too expensive. Other inventory management services cost much less and are far more intuitive and efficient.
Second, they implement new terms in your contract like exclusivity (forcing transactions to stay on the platform) but don't let you out of your contract.
Third, I followed all of their guidelines (uploading many works, showing prices, and setting buy-now options) yet barely managed to get any really inquiries.
Let's hope I can actually get them to export all my data/inventory.
I have a hunch they have bots on their platform sending fake inquiries to keep galleries hooked. Also, pretty sure the bigger galleries have free accounts while the small/medium galleries pay a premium.

Second experience same as the first. Horribly!
This is the second time, within a week, trying to buy a Shepard Fairey piece of art from AYNAC Gallery. Both times the 72 hour rule lapsed with no explanation. After the first lapse the product went right back onto the market for the same price. So I tried again to make the purchase, with the same results. Each time I received an email from Azusa stating that the gallery didn't respond and that she would note the account. As a consumer, how does noting the account help me? Do I have the amazing piece of are to hang in my home? How about actually contacting the gallery, via phone, rather than making a note. Then ask why the purchase was not honored. This should be followed up with establishing a way for the buyer complete the transaction with the gallery followed by delivery of product.

Hi John, thank you for your review.
We apologise that your order was not processed; the gallery had not updated their inventory to reflect that this piece has sold. We are following up with the gallery to discuss the importance of keeping their inventory up to date so that this does not happen again.
In addition, our team is reaching out to you so that we can assist you in finding an alternative artwork.
Please respond to our team if you have any further questions or concerns that you wish to discuss.
Best,

If you want customer service and communication
Tried to use the platform to sell my art however the only communication you receive is marketing e mails and automated bounce back messages advising that they have seen your e mail and will contact you soon. However they won’t instead you will just get more marketing e mails advising you contact should you need any assistance not mentioning that they will ignore you or play little attention to your requests when you do as they only want to appear to have customer service when in truth they just want you to spend your money so they make money another company focused on everything else but the customer.
