Lost Child’s Artwork and Horrible Customer Service

I paid extra to have my child’s artwork shipped back to me. Artkive used Amazon to return it to me, and they lost it. Priceless, irreplaceable and gone forever. It was supposed to be delivered 4/13 but never arrived. I contacted Artkive 4/19 and didn’t get a response for 3 days which they say is standard company policy for their “small, parent-run” company. It took several more emails and two weeks to get the head of customer service to respond to me. She seemed apologetic but only offered a refund and duplicate copy if the art didn’t arrive by 5/8. It never did and I had to email to ask if there was anything beyond a refund and duplicate they would do for me. Her response was no and it was out of their control. I felt dismissed. I am heartbroken that it’s all gone. I feel like they should’ve offered more even though nothing can replace what they lost. I told this to Artkive, and they said only if I removed this review, would they give me a complementary art book. Don’t use this company if you ever want to see your child’s art again and don’t want to be bullied into keeping quiet. Like so many have said horrible customer service and my cover image was crooked! The quality of their product is no better than if you took your own pictures of the art and made a Shutterfly book!

Megan, we are truly sorry for the loss of your artwork during return transit and we understand how devastating this must be for your family. Our team worked diligently to try to recover the package through Amazon: within 2 days of you reaching out, we filed a claim with Amazon. Within one week, our Customer Experience Manager personally offered a full refund and a complimentary duplicate book created from the high-resolution images of the art so your family would have an extra copy of the preserved artwork while the investigation was ongoing. Once it was clear the artwork could not be recovered, we also offered a future complimentary order — prior to any review being posted — which you accepted. When a review was subsequently posted stating we did not take the matter seriously, we felt it was important to address that directly, as it does not reflect the urgency or care with which this was handled. We appreciate that most of those statements were later removed, and we want to be clear: the complimentary order was offered out of genuine care, not in response to any review. In the interest of full transparency, this experience led us to stop using Amazon for return shipments entirely because no other family should face a similar situation. Regarding the cover image you selected: the original piece was a handmade school project with a photograph glued at an angle, so the image reflects the artwork exactly as it was created, not an error. Our offer to recreate your book with an alternative cover image remains open whenever you're ready. We sincerely encourage you to reach out to us directly if there is anything further we can do. Your family's memories and your trust matter deeply to us.

What a great company!
I was very pleased with the book that was returned to me from the sympathy cards I sent in. The company does a good job of keeping you apprised of where they are in the process. You get the choice of getting the cards returned to you or not. I have already shared this company on Facebook. I highly recommend them.

Keepsakes for the Coffee Table
This experience was fantastic! The Book was so much better than I even imagined. The photographs were professional And reflected each different medium well. I am making another right away!!!

Wonderful, quality product
What a wonderful, quality product! I purchased this to combine cards from when my husband & I were dating through our engagement & wedding. The photos truly capture every detail of each card & the color of the printing is perfect! I highly recommend purchasing this for any projects (helps to downsize as well!). Would make a great gift idea too!
