I purchased a Baby timeline book on line and It was very nice and exactly what i expected, but then a few days later I received a bill from FedEx for $20.29 for customs fees. Delivery to Canada. As the book was already one of the more expensive books on line this unexpected fee pushed the cost higher than the benefit. I wish I had known.

As someone who has created over 100 photobooks across various platforms, I came to Artifact Uprising for the first time after it was recommended by a co-worker. We were making a special gift for another colleague, so I was eager to see how this platform compared to others. I want to share my experience to help others make an informed decision before investing significant time into a project, especially if you’re considering Artifact Uprising for your next photobook. What I Noticed About the Platform: • I used Artifact Uprising specifically to create a photobook, and unfortunately, I found the tool less user-friendly than other platforms I’ve tried. • Adding text to pages is clunky and not as intuitive as I expected. Navigating and editing text can be frustrating. • You cannot delete photo placeholders, though it is possible to move them. This limitation made page customization difficult. • The template selection is extremely limited. For example, there is no template for five photos on one page, and options for other photo quantities are also quite sparse. • Customer service is restricted to email and chat. While representatives were polite, their ability to assist was limited—they seemed less familiar with the workings of their own platform than I would have hoped. • Some functionalities don’t seem to work as advertised. I was unable to email myself a PDF proof of my project, and despite placing the order, no one has yet been able to resolve this or provide an alternative. • Switching between product types is not possible mid-project. Unlike other platforms, you cannot easily move between similar products (e.g., changing from a hard cover photobook to a photo-wrapped hardcover), which I didn’t discover until I was already deep into my project. Because it was my first time using Artifact Uprising, I didn’t realize these constraints until I had already invested substantial time and effort. While I suspect the final product quality will be excellent, I encourage others to consider whether the platform’s limitations and the effort required to complete a project are worth it for your needs. Hopefully this detailed feedback helps others choose the right photobook platform for their project—especially if ease of use, flexibility, and responsive support are priorities for you.

I've recently used a different photo book supplier who I had no issues with on the actual quality of the books, but who didn't really offer the style of book I had wanted to order for some vacation photos and a 2022 review book. I ordered 3 books of which 2 ended up having problems with the print or binding. Obviously it's disappointing to know that there is zero QA on books that are quite expensive. Customer support was helpful and did resolve my problems by re-printing the books, but it is disappointing to feel like we had to get things re-made to make it right. I separately had bought vouchers for family to AU for Christmas, but I have shared my experience so they are pre-warned on what to look out for.

I’m really happy with the final product, but disappointed with the overall experience - including the user interface and customer service. There are different layout options with layflat albums that become really frustrating when you’re designing multiple albums. In some cases, you may want to repeat a spread… but in some cases you can’t only because you chose a different colour cover. 🤷🏼♀️ It’s framed by their team as a “design” decision, but it is just a frustrating user experience. The quality is the same as Milk Books albums of similar quality (digital, 6-colour) printing, however I personally prefer the user interface of Milk Books quite a bit more. I do appreciate the 8.5 by 8.5 option for AU - Milk Books only has 8 by 8. In the end, it mostly likely comes down to price (or which site has the better sale). Both sites result in incredible, worthwhile investments - and since I’ve now mastered the Artifact Uprising tool, I would purchase again if the right sale was on!
