I had some many amazing consultants at Archway. They were all positive and very professional. I love the front and back cover of my book. Everyone involved in the creation of my book was highly supportive and offered expert guidance. The interior design of my book is lovely as well.

The cooperation and the communication went fine till I discovered the problem with my ebook. After that, the Archway team stopped responding to my emails. I am very confused and frustrated.

Archway seems to be great initially to get you to go forward with publication. Once you go forth the process is drawn out and they offer no type of help what so ever! I would say it’s a new authors nightmare. It’s better to pay for a editor and self publish on your own.

It cost me ($400) to Dodge this Bullet!
It cost me ($400), but I think I dodged a bullet.
After a short two week relationship ($400), Archway and I dissolved our contract because they asked that I change all names, locations, and events that would ID anyone in my MEMOIR. How could I do that? Its a MEMIOR. Here's what they sent.
Libel or invasion of privacy Ê Ê
Your manuscript contains text that can possibly damage the reputation of a person, place, or thing, and/or your manuscript contains text that reveals information that could invade a person’s privacy. Please see our policy guidelines below regarding potentially libelous material and information that might invade a person’s privacy.
· It is possible to libel people from all walks of life, businesses, corporations, entities, organizations, products, and so on. Anyone and anything that has a reputation is vulnerable to defamation is an author is not behaving responsibly.
· If the person being discussed negatively has passed away, no libel can exist.
· Using false or fictionalized names for people, places, entities, and so on does not automatically remove the risk of libel unless there is absolutely no information in the manuscript that would otherwise identify the true identity or identities of the people, places, entities, and so on being discussed.
Please see the guidelines below to learn how to avoid committing libel against or invading the privacy of someone or something (options may need to be combined to resolve the issue of libel or invasion of privacy).
1. Hide the identities of the people, places, businesses, entities, and so on in the work so that they cannot be recognized or discovered by the information contained in the manuscript. The following steps must be taken in order to hide identities:
o Use a pen name in all locations where your real name would otherwise appear in the book and/or on the cover.
o Use false names for all people mentioned in the manuscript.
o Use false names for businesses; alternatively, do not name businesses at all. Businesses that would need to have their names changed or omitted include but are not limited to restaurants, hospitals, organizations, clubs, and educational establishments like high schools and universities.
o Use a false location name as the story’s setting and ensure there are no remaining details that could lead a reader to identify the true location of the events that inspired the story.
o Do not use images of recognizable people or things that would lead to the identification of real people or places associated with the real events that inspired the story.
2. Remove all potentially libelous claims and statements that might invade a person’s privacy.
3. Obtain notarized express written permission from all parties being discussed permitting you to retain and print the potentially libelous claims and information about them, which might invade their privacy.

MY ENVOLVEMENT WITH ARCHWAY PUBLISHING HAS BEEN AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE WITH THE PUBLISHING OF MY NOVEL.

Watch Out,Stay Out
I too thought that this sub of Simons and Schuester, with all their experience and expertise, could help me kick off my first book with all the help I needed. They have spent the last 7 months delaying me and failing to provide the support I needed. I had spent over $60,000 prepaying for printing and marketing, and they were not able to give me a work product I would want to put my name on. They have agreed to repay me the large majority of what I spent on prepaid services. Now I will start over.

Archway is good but it falls short in many ways…
Although I feel Archway did a pretty good job on the layout and quality of my novel, they fell short (very short) on several other aspects of the publishing package. Perhaps they are too big of an organization (and are more concerned with collecting your money) -- as they push you through the system and "check" they are done with you -- on to the next inspiring author. If all you want is a tangible book to share with friends and family -- Archway is a good avenue for you. However, if you believe in your book and want to see it "fly" - I suggest you find another publisher.
