Anthem/NationsBenefits needs to get sued for ripping off medicare! The new Flex Account, OTC card manager NationsBenefits LLC is a joke. Their website and apps on Google Play/ App store are dysfunctional. Neither work. The app is supposed to have a scanner to scan in-store OTC products to see if they are eligible for purchase with the OTC benefit. It doesn't have a scanner. Both the app and website feature a manual way to enter a product name, or UPC code, to see if an in-store item is eligible. It does not work either. The OTC products the company has that you can order from them online or through the app are 2 to 5 times higher priced than the same products at Walmart. The company is managing the Flex Accounts and the OTC benefits. Flex Accounts according to the Medicare contract, EOC, and Summary of Benefits, are for dental, vision, or hearing services, and pay those providers directly. NationsBenefits set up 2 wallets on the website, Flex, and OTC. They then split the products they sell online into 2 wallets. They are charging members from their Flex Account for OTC items, like toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, denture tablets, contact solutions, and eye drops. This is clearly a contract violation and defrauding of Medicare seniors. Nothing like ripping off Senior citizens living on fixed incomes. Anthem is not the only insurer that is using NationsBenefits LLC as a card manager. The Google Play store is lighting up with bad reviews for NationsBenefits LLC since 2023 started. Seniors with Anthem Medicare Advantage Plans beware with your OTC/Flex Account benefits you are being ripped off!

Read to the end, helpful hints to force Anthem to provide your medicine!! We've had them since before, when I hardly ever went to the doctor's, except yearly check-up, and after, when diagnosed with a chronic condition- ulcerative colitis. It is a great insurance, when you're giving them money (a $6.1 Billion profit- not gross- PROFIT in 2021) but less than stellar when you actually need them to provide the exact thing you bought- insurance. The chronic condition I have, can't be cured and required medication every 2 weeks. They make you beg for a prescription order every month, and every year you need prior authorization. That last came up 3 years after never requiring it. Suddenly, no medication until that. OK, solved, everything went fine. Then, a year later, after months of software screw ups where had to call and beg for medication you paid for with the premiums, yes that's what they actually buy it's not just to line Anthem's pockets, another prior authorization comes up. This time, they schedule it, and delay it so they can actually miss a shipment and save $2,000 (list price, they no doubt pay less) because $6.1 Billion is not enough to make. This is an un-curable disease. It doesn't change, it doesn't slightly get better there is not a single difference between my condition 3.5 years ago when I went into remission, and today. NOT ONE THING. There is not 1 thing different in my medical condition concerning ulcerative colitis for 4 years. Yet, today they denied my therapy. The same therapy I PAID FOR. The way to resolve this crap they pull is to REQUEST A PEER-TO-PEER WITH YOUR DOCTOR. The reason it's capitalized is that is the most important point for all insurance/money-grabbing-devils companies. Request a review from their chief doctor. What is happening is, a paper pusher is canceling your medicine, no doubt lining for its end-of-year bonus. Object and demand a review by their chief doctor. That way, you'll get what your doctor prescribed. Plus, report them to your state, I did (Georgia, which just last year leveled the highest fine against Anthem in Georgia's history).

Anthem hired a new company to manage their Flex Account and OTC cards for 2023. The company is NationsBenefits LLC out of Plantation, FL. This has got to be the biggest mistake Anthem has ever made. In 2017 my husband signed onto a Anthem MediBlue Plus HMO Medicare Advantage Plan. A few years later I also joined the plan. The plan was good, we had no problems with Anthem the first few years. Then came 2021, things started going down hill. First with their OTC provider company. Then it was with their coding department. They started coding things wrong. Charging more for copay's than what their Medicare contract, EOC, and Summary of Benefits stated. Calls, emails, to their members phone number or messages couldn't get the coding issues fixed. After going round and round with member services for months, I finally emailed Anthem's CEO. The issue finally got resolved. No senior on a Medicare Advantage plan should have to go through this, or be ripped off by charging more than contracted copay's. After 2022's debacles, I debated whether we should sign on again, or switch to a different company. I decided to stay with Anthem for 2023. BIG MISTAKE! This is how 2023 is panning out. I'm going into veterinary field and needed to get my rabies shots. I explained that to my insurance rep to see if it'll be covered as preventive. I was told the shots won't be considered preventive... Hello? Rabies? Veterinary field? Why aren't the rabies vaccines considered preventive for vet students when they are for animals? It's also hard to find providers in the correct specialty too. I've been trying to find a psychiatrist and Anthem shows me neurosurgeons. The ones I did find don't take BCBS and/or any other insurance. The app is hard to use. The website is just ok.

Anthem should be called ScamThem. Knowing that we were going to be having a baby this year, we shopped around for insurance and did our homework. It was important to us that we find an insurer with a large selection of in-network providers in our area. We looked at provider lists and finally settled on a plan from Anthem. The price was reasonable, and they had a lot of doctors in our area. However, every single time we need to find a doctor or specialist, it's nearly impossible to find one that is actually in-network. We call doctor after doctor FROM ANTHEM'S LIST OF IN-NETWORK PROVIDERS, only to be told things like: -"That doctor retired 7 years ago." -"That practice closed a couple of years ago." -"We used to take that insurance, but now we don't." -"We've never taken Anthem insurance." When we had to take our newborn to a pediatric neurosurgeon, we had to drive over 100 miles round trip to get to the closest in-network doctor. The best part of all of that? The hospital 50 miles away that we had to go to, has another location 7 miles from us. But they don't take Anthem. Every single experience we have had finding a doctor with this insurance has been a nightmare. From where I'm standing at least, it sure as he'll looks like Anthem is engaging in fraud and false advertising. (Wouldn't be the first time they were caught doing that, by the way.)

Bluegrass Orthopaedics just called and said Anthem will not pay for hyaluronic acid knee gel injections. Why? So, I called Anthem and they said they would if the doctor shows injections are medically necessary? Of course, injections are medically necessary, what human gets knee injections that aren't? Fuming mad! BGO and Anthem, not a good match, fo sho!

The anthem website is garbage. The overhead of trying to find a primary care doctor is insane. The games they play with people being 'in network' vs 'out of network' and 'we are telling you this person is in network but they might not actually be, you wont know until we bill you' and what not is criminal. I've been lied to on the phone before about what is covered. The phone call was recorded, but when they went back to investigate the issue, surprise! This particular phone recording got corrupted! I hate Anthem insurance.

Anthem sucks! I called the nurse line today 11/13/2020 for a few reasons hoping that it will prevent me from having to go to the HOSPITAL. I had to call 3 times and between the agents and nurses, I think I wasted an hour getting verified and still never got helped. HOW IS THIS NURSELINE HELPFUL! I gave my information so many times I felt like cussing at all of them! The agent answers the call and transfers you to a nurse. The first agent heard me ask for a nurse and then she said, so you are looking for a nurse? I didn't say a word. Then she said one moment and after a few seconds, she asked if I was looking for a nurse. I SAID CAN YOU HEAR ME WELL AND SHE SAID, YES. I said so you heard me ask for a nurse right and she said yes! SO WHY IS MY TIME BEING WASTED??? I WAS FINALLY TRANSFERRED... Nurse answered and asked for my name DOB address, number, and where I was at the moment as if that is any of her business! If someone listens to the call, they will hear her stall to prevent from having to help me. I can't believe these people were so UNPROFESSIONAL! THEY DIDN'T NEED ANYTHING BUT MY ID CARD NUMBER, NAME, AND DOB...AS FOR MY ADDRESS, ASK IF ALL THE REST OF MY INFORMATION IS UP TO DATE, get the answer and MOVE ON... IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE FOR ME TO CALL 3 TIMES AND SPEAK TO 6 PEOPLE AND STILL NOT GET ANY ADVICE FROM A NURSE! I WANT MY COMPLAINTS AGAINST ALL 6 PEOPLE FILED AND I AM GOING TO MAKE SURE IT HAPPENS BY FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB AND OTHER COMPANIES. The agents who accessed my account and even the ones who didn't played a role in wasting my time! PEOPLE ARE DYING! And you much rather waste 30 minutes on my phone numbers?????? Waste all my time asking which state I am currently in?????? Answer the Nurse Advice line, hear me ask for a nurse and waste my time asking if I am calling for a nurse!!! IF I WERE THEIR MANAGERS, THEY WOULD ALL BE WRITTEN UP MONDAY MORNING! I want all 6 complaints filed. I hung up after ENOUGH OF MY TIME WAS WASTED... With the 1st, 2nd and 3rd agent! I am not about to allowing these goofy people take me through these changes after being verified! This is a PERFECT example on why some patients are rude to Nurses! IT'S NOT FOR NOTHING! I am not playing any games with these people... A sane person justo doing their jobs would have assisted me properly! Ask for my name, DOB and get my ID #, then ask is everything up to date in your account, like address, and number? GET A YES AND MOVE ON! If HIPAA is making you ask, heres how to do it. Ask the patient in one question to verify the name, DOB, address, phone number AND MOVE ON! That can be done quickly! It does NOT take 6 people and still be acting like you can't understand. After verifying my account, I felt like stupid comments and questions were being asked to waste my time and not have to help me. I GAVE A DIFFERENT PHONE NUMBER WITH THE LAST AGENT. HAD SHE ASKED ME IF THE NUMBERS ON FILE ARE STILL GOOD I WOULD HAVE SAID, YES. Instead, she wanted to waste 30 additional minutes of my time discussing each number and what they are good for. Can I use that number for this and that? Okay and what about the other numbers can I use them for this that? OHHH MY GOODNESS! I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR ANYTHING! The Customer service, was HORRIBLE! I have ran in to MORE HORRIBLE AGENTS THAN GOOD ONES! I Filed a Grievance in August and NEVER HEAR BACK FROM ANYONE... I have checked the status and wasted my time! Anthem is so NOT THE BUSINESS! Plan to have your time WASTED with no chance to ask your medical questions for any resolution! IF YOU SIGN UP FOR ANTHEM!
