About American Massage Therapy Association

The American Massage Therapy Association is the largest non-profit, professional association serving massage therapists, massage students and massage schools. We are guided by a volunteer national Board of Directors who sets the course for the association. As a member-driven organization, we are constantly in conversation with our members through surveys, phone calls, emails and social media to understand the diverse needs of all of our members and their hopes for the profession. We advocate for the issues important to massage therapists across the country at the federal, state and local levels of government. We promote the health benefits of massage to the public, the health care community and other important groups. AMTA provides its members with the strongest benefits in the massage therapy profession and has been serving our community for over 75 years.

I am grateful for the benefits AMTA…
I am grateful for the benefits AMTA offers. User friendly website, friendly and knowledgable customer service and reasonable prices for CEU's. My only concern is, why do most of the national conferences happen back East? I think we are deprived in the West. Thank you for giving us a chance to rate the association and hope something will be done about the concerns.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and concerns with us. At AMTA we’re very much aware that it can be hard for our members to travel great distances to attend the National Convention. In an effort to alleviate this we rotate the locations from East to West across the country. For example, in 2018 the conference was located in Washington, D.C., this year the conference will be located in the Mid-west in Indianapolis, and next year the convention will be located out West in Phoenix. In the recent past we’ve held the National Convention in Portland, Pasadena, and Denver. We hope you’ll be able to join us in Phoenix in 2020! Great organization with liability insurance, website, and online courses. The conventions are always informative, as well as the meetings. Overall, I have been a happy member.

AMTA has always provided me with…
AMTA has always provided me with excellent customer service, a variety of continuing education classes to help make me a better massage therapist for my clients, and a friendly, courteous staff to answer any questions I have had. They've provided me with the tools needed to start and maintain my business, and have helped me become more of a confident massage therapist. I am grateful to be a member of the AMTA and gain the trust of my clients with such a well-known group supporting me.

AMTA membership is a great value!
AMTA is by far the most effective professional association for massage therapists. Face it, you can get insurance and other benefits anywhere. AMTA does so much more! State chapters mean "boots on the ground" where you need it most: networking opportunities with other LMTs in your area, government relations support in your state to help with legislative and regulatory issues, and high quality, in-person continuing education from nationally recognized instructors at an affordable price.
