I recently used mover American Van Lines. Although they moved my possessions from A to B, the experience was less than stellar. I did not know this beforehand, but American Van lines did not have any trucks available, so they contracted out the job to another mover. I first learned of this was when the truck pulled up without an American Van Lines logo. I tried calling the coordinator assigned to my move but could not get a hold of them as it was on a weekend. I should have been provided with a “after hours” number. The truck was too small. The estimator grossly underestimated my possessions. The lead mover did not want to start loading and did not think it all would fit. For example, the wardrobe boxes were estimated at 2 but I needed 4 plus the regular boxes was estimated at ½ what I actually needed. The movers ended up leaving a small amount of my possessions behind because they would not fit in the truck. Plus, the contracted moving company almost ran out of boxes. Apparently, they bring enough boxes for what they expect to pack. There were only 2 workers assigned to both pack everything and load it into the truck. It took in total 7 hours. More crew should have been provided. The delivery date was stated by the coordinator to be 4 days after loading. It ended up being only 2 with little warning, and a threat to store my possessions for an additional charge of $2.000.

A pine chest was broken. Some things never arrived and probably left on truck. They went so fast, i really wasn't able to check thoroughly. When i called, they were not able to find stray boxes ir reimburs. I doubt if i will use american van lines again. This move was from Louisiana to north Carolina 2018

They gave me a "binding Estimate" initially. We went over the inventory list several times. I was advised that they were experiencing trucking/mechanical problems on their end. And as a result, I was advised that they were going to outsource the packing of my inventory to one of their "PARTNERS" and their email stated that in doing so, I would remain under contract with them!!!! Well low and behold, on the actual move date, the initial agreement price was INCREASED my $800.00 They instructed their "PARTNER" to not do/MOVE anything until I DOCUSIGNED the newly INFLATED. price. They held my furniture HOSTAGE. So I DOCUSIGNED the inflated agreement price in NEW JERSEY. Here when my furniture arrived in MINNESOTA, I was asked to sign (physically) a AVL invoice. AND GUESS WHAT???? That invoice had the INITIAL AGREED PRICE...MINUS the inflated price they gave me in NEW JERSEY....I SIGNED it and DATED it. AND HAVE A COPY OF IT!!!!! Tried to settle this with them amicably but they GHOSTED ME....THEY WOULD NOT RETURN MY CALLS. OR RESPOND TO MY EMAILS!! I'm NOW SEEKING COUNSEL!!!!!
