I was confused by the application…

I was confused by the application process. I wanted to certify my dog as an emotional support dog based on my therapists recommendation. He would be able to fly and move to a place that only allowed support pets. However, I ended up with a bill forv$160 to qualify for both emotional support and service dog. I was also approved by your company psychologist. However, now I have to pay a monthly fee to train my dog to comply. And there is no refund since approval letters were sent to me. This is very frustrating. $160 and I can’t afford training on top of that. It did not help my emotional status.

An Emotional Support Animal is not legally granted travel rights. ESAs ONLY have legal housing accommodation and do not have specific training requirements. If you wanted to fly with your ESA, that would be a determination by the individual airline carrier you choose. Each airline has regulations and procedures for travel with an ESA. Some allow it under specific protocols and some do not. A Psychiatric Service Animal (PSA) would have legal public access, travel, and housing rights. If you asked for your dog to be able to fly with you, that would be the reason for the PSA designation. The parameters for PSA qualification include that your animal must be trained to mitigate at least one symptom of your mental health disability.
