Mike from AllstateCarShip contacted me and explained all transportation safety process, offering competitive rates and how everything is done since the pickup and delivery. A+!

This company is a scam. James Wilson quoted me $275 to transport my vehicle on 7/24. I confirmed several times this was the total and there would be no additional charges. James said: "Thank you for taking the time to request a quote for your vehicle's transportation. The total cost to ship your vehicle is $275, which covers everything." I agreed and signed a contract for the $275, with a $100 deposit. James said there were no issues and my vehicle would be picked up on July 27. On July 26, James emailed: "I hope you're doing well. Since you booked your shipment with our company, I began working on your order immediately. I have been contacting multiple carriers—more than 26 drivers so far—but most have been hesitant to accept this shipment because of the specific challenges associated with this route. The main challenge is the delivery location in Moseley, VA, which is outside the major Richmond freight corridors. While Buffalo is a strong pickup market, carriers generally prefer routes with more direct return opportunities, making this shipment more difficult to cover at a lower rate. I have now found a driver willing to take the shipment at $2 per mile. Considering the driver's fuel, tolls, operating expenses, return-trip considerations, and the possibility of not having a guaranteed backhaul, this is a reasonable opportunity for this route and a rate the driver is willing to accept." I told James this was unacceptable as I was not outside the "Richmond freight corridor" as Moseley is a suburb just south of Richmond. Further, I stated if this was truly an issue I would pick the vehicle up at a location of his choice in Richmond for the quoted price. On July 26, James responded: "With due respect, sir, I want to be completely transparent with you. I could have arranged the pickup first and then surprised you at delivery with a $1,000 charge, but that is not how I conduct business. I am informing you of the actual carrier rate before pickup so you have complete clarity and there are no surprises later. I have explained the situation and the reasons behind the updated price upfront. The initial quote was an estimate based on the information and market conditions available at the time, while the final transportation rate is determined by the carrier based on current demand, availability, and operating costs. I understand that you are comparing other options, and I respect that. However, in this industry, any company providing an initial quote may still need to confirm the final carrier rate based on the actual market. My priority is to be transparent with you and provide the final price before your vehicle is picked up—not after delivery. I sincerely ask you to consider the available driver and give me your approval so I can assign the carrier and send you the driver's complete details. My goal is to make sure everything is clear and agreed upon before the vehicle is picked up." His new price was now $1400 (5.1x the original quote). Thus, I canceled and told him I wanted my $100 deposit back. James replied: "With due respect, I would not recommend canceling the shipment because the cancellation terms outlined in the agreement may apply. According to the signed agreement, a $200 cancellation fee may be charged, and the reservation fee may be non-refundable. For this reason, I sincerely recommend proceeding with the available driver, as it may be the more cost-effective option. However, if you still prefer to cancel the shipment, I can process the cancellation according to the terms of the agreement. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. If you choose to cancel, would you prefer to pay the cancellation fee by debit card or credit card, or would you like me to send you an invoice by email?" The contract that you sign says if a driver is dispatched you may owe a cancellation fee and may forfeit your deposit. However, in his own email James stated the driver had not been assigned nor dispatched yet. Note he used high pressure sales tactics to try and get me to still book, such as saying that my paying 5.1x the original quote (a 409% increase) was "the more cost-effective option". Later he tried to "help [me] out" by "paying some of the quote with [his] own money" and lowering the rate to $800 plus my original deposit. Please note their BBB accreditation is revoked and they have an F rating as of 9/2026. They have a 1.8 rating on Yelp, a 1/10 on Carshipio, and 1 star on Facebook. Lastly, you will see they respond to the plethora of negative reviews that " the quoted price is identified as an estimated quote" and "not a guaranteed rate". Yet, as you can see nowhere do they tell you this until after they try to bait and switch, because that is their business model. It is not a bug, it is their primary feature - caveat emptor.

Extremely disappointing experience — refund promised, then denied I would strongly caution anyone considering using Allstate CarShip. My experience started when I paid a $150 deposit to have my vehicle transported. The service and pricing I was originally quoted were not ultimately honored, and after trying to resolve the situation directly with the company, Allstate CarShip agreed to refund my $150 deposit. Despite agreeing to the refund, the company failed to actually follow through and return my money. I repeatedly followed up and was told the refund was being processed. I gave them more than enough opportunity to resolve the issue voluntarily. Because the refund still never came, I eventually disputed the charge with my bank. What is especially concerning is what happened afterward. Once the bank became involved, Allstate CarShip disputed my claim and took a position that contradicted what they had previously told me directly — essentially denying that I was entitled to the refund they had already agreed to provide. Even more frustrating, on July 10, after I had already disputed the charge with my bank and informed them that I was escalating the matter to the BBB, someone from Allstate CarShip contacted me by phone and told me that my refund would be issued. I was specifically told that I would receive the refund within approximately 10–15 minutes. That refund never arrived. At that point, this stopped being simply a customer-service issue. I had written communications documenting their agreement to refund my money, follow-up communications saying the refund was being processed, and then a completely different position presented when my bank became involved. I find this extremely troubling and misleading. If a company agrees that a customer is owed a refund, it should honor that agreement rather than delay the refund and then deny responsibility once the customer seeks help from their financial institution. I have retained documentation of the transaction, communications regarding the refund, and the subsequent dispute with my bank. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Allstate CarShip. My biggest issue isn’t simply the $150 — it’s the way the situation was handled and the fact that I was repeatedly told my money would be returned, only for the company to later deny that obligation. Pros: None based on my experience. Cons: Unreliable communication, failure to honor a promised refund, repeated delays, and inconsistent representations regarding the refund.

Although it took quite some time to arrange a driver, which I understand, once I got a firm date for pick up and confirmed price. I agreed to go with them as I had tried 3 different carriers, not all with honest offers, I went with my booking agent Jasmie James. She worked hard and spoke to me everyday assuring they would find a driver. All I can say regardless of all low ball offers out there, they are never as cheap as they quote. Expect to pay around $1.50 a mile. Jasmine never quit even though I started to become upset with the time it was taking even with one confirmed then cancelled sxheduled pickup.
