My experience with Allara Health was very disappointing. I was initially told my insurance covered the appointment, so I proceeded with the visit. 2 weeks later, I was told I wasn’t covered and was responsible for paying out of pocket!! Looking at other reviews, it seems many people have had similar experiences with unexpected charges after being told they were covered. This feels like a concerning pattern and is very shady. I’ve never had this experience with dozens of other providers we’ve been to.

We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. We take concerns about billing seriously and make every effort to communicate patients’ financial responsibility as clearly as possible. Because we cannot discuss individual account or billing details publicly, we’d appreciate the opportunity to connect directly and review your account with you. We will follow up with you via the patient portal.

Allara Health: Great at Taking Your Money, Impossible to Reach
I genuinely do not understand how Allara Health can call itself a healthcare company when actually getting help from them is nearly impossible.
The lack of communication is completely unacceptable. I have sent MULTIPLE messages trying to get assistance and have been met with silence. Not a delayed response. Not an inadequate response. No response. Meanwhile, these aren’t questions about a clothing order or a subscription box—we are talking about healthcare and prescriptions.
Prescriptions are not being sent in as they should be, leaving me repeatedly chasing down a company I am PAYING to manage my care. When medication is involved, communication and follow-through are not optional extras. They are basic responsibilities of a healthcare provider.
And here’s the part that makes the lack of response even worse: there is no functional customer-service phone line for patients to call.
Think about that. A healthcare company that handles appointments, medical care, billing, and PRESCRIPTIONS does not provide me with a reliable customer-service number where I can call, speak to an actual person, and get an urgent problem resolved. Instead, I am expected to send messages through their system—the same messages that apparently disappear into a black hole.
So when Allara doesn’t respond, what exactly is the patient supposed to do?
Then there is the billing documentation. Why should I have to repeatedly chase a healthcare company for receipts for money I already paid them? Providing patients with documentation of their payments should be one of the most basic administrative functions of any legitimate healthcare operation.
And if you’re thinking, “I’ll just handle everything online,” good luck with that too.
The app doesn’t work properly. The website doesn’t work properly.
These are the very systems patients are supposed to depend on because Allara doesn’t provide a functional customer-service line. So when the technology doesn’t work AND nobody answers messages, patients are effectively locked out of getting help.
Let’s recap:
No reliable customer-service phone line.
Messages repeatedly go unanswered.
Prescriptions aren’t reliably sent.
Receipts aren’t reliably provided.
The app doesn’t work properly.
The website doesn’t work properly.
Yet somehow, patients are still expected to pay for this experience.
What exactly am I paying for?
Telehealth only works when the “health” part actually happens. You cannot build a healthcare business around convenience while making patients fight through broken technology, unanswered messages, missing prescriptions, and nonexistent phone support just to receive basic service.
What makes this particularly unacceptable is that patients seeking this type of care are often already dealing with complicated health concerns. The LAST thing they need is the additional stress of relentlessly chasing their healthcare provider just to get prescriptions and basic administrative needs handled.
I have been patient. I have messaged repeatedly. I have tried using the channels Allara provides. At some point, telling patients to “contact Concierge” stops being a solution when Concierge does not answer and there is no customer-service line to call when they don’t.
I would strongly caution anyone considering Allara to think very carefully before signing up. Ask yourself what you will do if you have a problem with your prescription, billing, or account and nobody responds to you—because based on my experience, there may not be a human being you can simply call to resolve it.
A polished online presence and promises of convenient specialized care mean absolutely nothing if the infrastructure behind them cannot reliably support the patients who are already paying.
Healthcare requires communication, accountability, accessibility, and follow-through. Based on my experience, Allara has failed spectacularly at all four.
Patients should not have to beg a healthcare company to provide the healthcare services they already paid for.
Update:
They reached out after MULTIPLE complaints on multiple platforms…… was the issue resolved??? NOPE Not at all!!!

Customer Service is mostly automated and extrememly difficult.
Allara is very difficult to get ahold of when you have questions, particularly billing/ insurance questions. I had one appointment with a WHNP in a different state and am perfectly happy with that session, at the end she scheduled me for a simple follow up about a month later.
Between the two appointments my health insurance changed. I contacted Allara and they emailed me and said that they were in network. Then I got a bill for $150 instead of my $30 copay for that follow up. I spent weeks emailing them to ask what happened, contantly got automated responses, one time they closed my thread in the app without answering AT ALL. On the third try I got the same run around AGAIN. Being told that my inquiry was going to a manager but then getting the same automated answer that my STATE ins't included.
My state not being covered is fine, what is NOT fine is being informed that it was and then being billed for FIVE TIMES the price afterward. The constant automated responses and then the same stock answer even when I supposedly got to a real person are aggravating and disheartening. Even a basic apology would go a long way.
Summary: TERRIBLE customer service and not worth being hit with unexpected bills when they lie to you.

FALSE ADVERTISING!!!
I booked with Allara after seeing a social media ad. I requested a fertility specialist. Instead, I got an OBGYN who was NOT a fertility specialist. The doctor even admitted she is not a fertility specialist. I complained, disputed the charge, and requested a refund but since you have a card on file, they charge you and will not give a refund. This is fraudulent advertising! I have yet to get my money back! I disputed it with my card company but the card company claims Allara showed it was a justified charge and has not given my money back. I will continue to fight to get my money back! Allara is a company that cannot be trusted!
(*All you have to do is look at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau case that I submitted and the Better Business Bureau complaint I submitted. Allara you know exactly who I am. You’re trying to flag my review to be deleted but I will keep posting it! If I can help it, I will divert as much business away from you as I can! You’re a FRAUD company!)

Very disappointed
Very disappointed. My provider changed my medication dosage, then didn’t remember making the change until I reminded her during my appointment. It gave me the impression that my chart hadn’t been reviewed beforehand. Afterward, the pharmacy made multiple requests to clarify the new dosage, but they went unanswered for days. Despite several messages through the app, the issue still wasn’t resolved, and I ran out of medication. For someone who is very sensitive to hormonal changes, that is not a minor inconvenience—it can have a significant impact on my health and well-being. This experience has left me with little confidence in the quality of care or communication, and it has made me rethink using virtual healthcare altogether.

If you’re going here for PCOS don’t…
If you’re going here for PCOS don’t waste your money. They are no experts and can only give you generic information. You can get this same information from the internet or your primary.
They canceled my dietician appointment minutes before it was set to start. Then, when I was speaking to my primary she was looking at the wrong patient file - and this is after I said to her repeatedly, “are you sure you have the right person”? This place touts having expertise in PCOS but don’t even have the basics down of patient logistics

Don't give them your card number
Don't give them your card number. If you do, they will bill you prior to your first appointment...before services are even provided. AND, they will automatically sign you up to be charged monthly without your permission.

Disappointed
I have to say that I'm disappointed in the age cap. I really do need help and again, the medical community doesn't care about anyone over 65.
