Good doctors. Shitty billing department. Didn’t bill my insurance correctly. Charged me $120 for a $10 copay. Going on 30+ days. They billed the insurance properly and are trying to charge me $10 now when they owe me $110! Still haven’t received a refund and just keep getting billed $10! Find another provider!

Great Mission, But Fell Short for Me
While I really appreciate Allara’s mission to advocate for women’s health, my experience fell short of expectations. My initial appointment was disappointing. The doctor seemed knowledgeable, but the session felt rushed—she mentioned having to move to her next call less than 10 minutes in. By the time we confirmed we could hear each other, over 7 minutes had already passed.
I had a complex medical history involving early menopause and IVF, and even though I had prepped thoroughly and sent over my records in advance, it still took about 10 minutes to explain my current condition. With so little time left, the rest of the appointment turned into a rapid-fire Q&A rather than a thoughtful consultation. It didn’t feel like she had the space to evaluate me properly, and I left feeling unsure whether we really connected.
Given that Allara positions itself as a specialty clinic (and charges specialty copays), I expected a more attentive and personalized experience—something above and beyond a typical OBGYN visit. That wasn’t the case.
I shared this feedback directly with Allara, and Kelly from patient experience reached out. She was kind, receptive, and even offered back-to-back appointments in the future to allow for more time. I truly appreciated that—they seem open to improving, which matters a lot!!
Still, I’m on the fence about continuing with Allara. The follow-up process was also frustrating—it took 4–5 business days to get a response to my medical question (they are really quick with non-medical questions though), which was relayed through staff as “Here’s what the doctor says:...” It felt really slow to me given that most traditional clinics usually take max 48 hours, and I wasn’t entirely comfortable knowing multiple people might be reading my medical concerns.
Overall, the care wasn’t bad, I did get some useful information, and It might work for some people- like those with very obvious PCOS symptoms and body types, but I don't feel like I fall in such cases and wanted to be evaluated. Also, the experience didn’t feel elevated or cohesive enough to match the promise of a “specialty clinic.” I also struggled to find detailed information about their doctors and their specific PCOS expertise. I ended up choosing someone based on availability alone, which felt more like trial and error than informed choice.
If I decide to try a second appointment and have a better experience, I’ll update this review. But for now, I’m sharing my honest take for other women who may be considering Allara.

Inefficient and long wait times
The doctors are great, but it takes FOREVER to schedule an appointment, you usually have to schedule things two weeks out which is way too long of a lead time, especially if you have to reschedule. Allara has cancelled some of my appointments ten minutes before the meeting and offered reschedules DAYS later - very inconsiderate considering health and wellness decisions are put on hold until you speak with a doctor. The concierge team also takes hours to respond which is unhelpful and not the level of attention or care they advertise when you sign up.
Update as of 3/13/25 at 4:20pm ET - Allara responded on here BEFORE even responding through the concierge portal. Still waiting for an answer there.

Allara makes sense for new diagnosis/unmanaged conditions
I had a great experience with Dr. Sweeney; the nutritionist was subpar and I felt that I didn't learn anything and she wasn't very knowledgeable. It felt that she was making recommendations for me for the sake of short-term goals, but in pursuit of nothing long term. Allara's whole nutrition philosophy is basically what is in the book "The Glucose Goddess" and you can get that for $20, not $120/month. This service is great if you're recently diagnosed or you feel your condition is not under control, but if your condition is, you simply drain $120/month. This isn't a sustainable solution long term when you can go to other doctors that are insurance covered.

I wish I would've been happier with Allara
So far, the best is having the bloodwork done, but the appointments between the doctor and nutritionist have been too far away from each other and make progress very slow. I actually had to reach out to a different nutritionist as my first appointment was almost a month away and my symptoms were really not good. I am glad I made that decision because the nutrition plan from that external person is actually better and makes more sense than the one I am getting from Allara. How come I am not getting an allergy test for food?
So far I am not as satisfied as I thought I would've been.

False Advertisement
I feel like your advertisement is misleading. You come off as a company that understands conditions such as PCOS, Hashimotos and thyroiditis. You also mention that the dietician and the physician work together. I did not find that experience as well. The only individual that seemed to try the help was the dietician. Nobody seemed to understand hashimotos anymore than the doctors I could see with my insurance so I found it a complete waste of money.
