The Japan inland seas to alps was a great combination of places for our first trip to Japan. We were surprised by having 4 different guides during the 10 days.

We enjoyed the trip to Japan. Beautiful country and the guide was excellent. Yuka spoke English and she was well versed in the History and culture of Japan. She was organized and made sure that we covered everything on the itinerary. The hotels were in good locations. There was limited vegetarian options. We experienced one problem on the day of our departure. We were told by our guide that we would be escorted from the hotel to the bus station to board the bus to the airport. However, no one showed up at the hotel and we had to to go on our own in a taxi to the bus station. We had to pay 700 yen for the taxi and we had to manage the luggage on our own. We were not too happy and felt let down.

Small group and great accommodations

All that A&R said was included in the Finland Lapland trip was done very well. Accommodations were wonderful. Guides outstanding. Gaining additional information regarding resort activities prior to arrival in order to book excursions did not go well - I got widely differing information from the resort and A&R.

A terrific guide and jam-packed itinerary of sites and culinary local delights. Be sure to have comfortable walking shoes for this tour.

Having traveled with Alexander & Roberts multiple times, I can say that their itineraries, guides, and schedules are excellent. I will travel with them again. Eery trip is different, and much of the success of a trip depends on the travelers. One glitch is our last trip was the number of tourists in general in the region we were visiting, so that even though we thought we were staying in one hotel, we ended up in another hotel for an additional cost. I understand what happened, but it was unfortunate. The additional cost was not worth the hotel, even though it was nice, but the trip was very good.

The drivers and tour guides were exceptional. Polite and knowledgeable. Our Travel documents did not match up with our Guide's documents. I was very sad that we could not be taken to the Trevi Fountain or the Pantheon. Our documents said 4 hours with those and our Guide's document said only 3 hours with just two stops instead of the four. We had to use our own resources to get to and from the Fountain. Also, our driver had the wrong train station in his travel document and our name was spelled wrong. I am glad I checked with him before we got in the car or we would have been taken to the wrong station. The hotel was wonderful, Romanico Palace, centrally located, very clean, wonderful beds. Our outgoing flight was delayed, and we had to use the ONCall International phone number, Jen was so helpful and calmed our nerves putting us at ease for the trip.

Overall great experience with excellent guides and great hotels in superb locations. The only glitch was one of the inland flights where 6 of us ( total 9) did not have a seat assigned but were on stand-by. While everything worked out well it was a stressful and unpleasant experience. All the next flights were fine and without a problem. The van drivers were very skilled and considerate as well.
