AfropendaAfropenda – Faith. Culture. Affirmation. Loungewear BY Us, FOR Us.Afropenda is a Black woman-owned loungewear brand creating comfortable, stylish clothing designed specifically for Black women aged 45 and up. Founded in 2020 by Lena—a size 16 former Lane Bryant marketing professional—Afropenda was born from a simple frustration: Why couldn't she find loungewear that fit her curves, honored her culture, AND expressed her faith? Instead of waiting for someone else to figure it out, she built it herself.Every piece at Afropenda is crafted around three pillars: Faith (wearable scripture that grounds you in truth), Culture (designs that celebrate who we are, unapologetically), and Affirmation (words that remind you of your worth when the world forgets). This isn't just clothing—it's a statement. It's armor. It's finally being SEEN.Our signature hoodie dresses combine the comfort of your favorite hoodie with the coverage and femininity of a dress. Made from premium scuba fabric that's soft, durable, and wrinkle-resistant, each piece features thoughtful details like oversized hoods designed to accommodate natural hair and protective styles. Available in sizes XS through 5XL, our sizing is true to fit—no guessing, no surprises, no "plus-friendly" options that were clearly an afterthought.Afropenda serves women who've spent decades showing up for everyone else and are finally ready to show up for themselves. Women with curves who refuse to choose between comfortable and cute. Women who want their faith visible, their culture celebrated, and their bodies honored—all at the same time. This brand wasn't created in a corporate boardroom. It was built by a Black woman who understands your body because she lives in one just like it. Who knows the frustration of hoods too small for your hair. Who experienced firsthand what it feels like to walk into stores and feel invisible.Whether you're lounging at home, running errands, meeting friends for brunch, or simply wanting to feel wrapp

Absolutely love the two dresses i ordered. They are so comfy and look great. I ordered a size up and it was the perfect fit. I love all the designs. Great for everyday wear and for special occasions. I wore one to my daughters wedding shower and have shared the website with many since then.

Love the cut of the dress! Fabric is flowing and washes perfectly for travel. Delivery is timely. Very pleased.

Both dresses are XL and fit true to size. I'm totally satisfied with my purchase. My Bakara Stacked Ruffle Sleeve dress selection was a bit different than what I had originally ordered. It has a quote on the front of it. Yet, the pic of the item chosen, did not! Also the Ardhi Stacked Ruffle Sleeve dress, I simply love the design & it's meaning. ✊🏽🖤⭐✨

The beautiful cultural designs on the fabric is what drew me to this brand. I get daily emails that are amusing, but serve the purpose of detailing how dedicated the owner and staff are to each and every customer. I purchased a matching set of leggings and top. I will order again.

I ordered a dress and it took forever to come and the quality was poor. Their “milk silk” is polyester. The reviews here are all fake and from this company; they’re fraudulently claiming to be black-owned and using AI ads. They’re owned by MNC Commerce LLC which is located in Indonesia, and their website is hosted in Reykjavik, Iceland. They use AI writing with em dashes to try to sound like a black woman founded it yet don’t provide a last name or photo for their “owner,” Lena. Please support a real black-owned business, not these grifters pretending to be black-owned to get your money

Hi Melissa L, I'm sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience. I wasn't able to find an order under the name you used in your review. If you did place an order with us, could you please email your order number or the email address used for the purchase to [email protected]? I'd genuinely like the opportunity to review your case and help resolve any issues. If your order arrived much later than expected or there was a quality problem, we'll do our best to support you. Regarding the other claims in your review, I respectfully want to clarify that the information about our company being based in Indonesia or our website being "hosted in Iceland" is not accurate. I understand there may have been some confusion or misinformation. As a Black woman running a small business created to celebrate and support our community, it is honestly painful to read a statement that I am pretending to be Black. I respect that customers may not like every product or experience, and I'm always willing to listen and improve. But I also hope we can keep the discussion focused on verifiable facts. If you've had a genuine issue with your order, please reach out to me directly at [email protected]. I'd truly appreciate the chance to make things right. – Lena Afropenda

I had some concerns about a tracking number, since I live in a rural area that sometimes messes up the mail. I contacted the company and they were most helpful. Then I got my beautiful dresses and I LOVE them. They are so soft and flowy and well-made. Would recommend highly.
