Very deceiving company! They will give you all the assurance in the world and peace of mind when signing up, then when things go breaking down and you needed their help, they will give you the lowest possible approval! It really defeats the purpose of having a home warranty! Not renewing again! And never recommending this company.

False Advertisement
As a Disabled Veteran and Consumer, I am utterly appalled by this company. This company talks a good game but does not follow thru. I filed a claim to because my Ameristar AC was not blowing out cold air. Since it came with the house 3 years ago, forgive me for thinking that i would file a claim. They would send a technician out to see what is wrong. Maybe the AC needs a little Freon, or a valve is not fully open because they do offer that in the warranty. Nope just the runaround and there is nothing we can do. I had no information on it which is why I got a home warranty. Go figure... They call me back and tell me that I have to contact Trane because it is still under warranty until 11/22 and they can't do anything with it. So, I call Trane who tell me they are not responsible for service calls. A service technician needs to come out to see what the issue is and if it is Functional part, they can send it in for a replacement. They asked if I knew who installed it because they did not register it. I told them no because it came with the house. Why that matters you ask? Because since they did not register it there is only basic limited warranty. I even went as far as to look on the Ameristar website it said the same thing. So, I call AFC back they tell me there is nothing they can do because it is under warranty. That if I like I they can recommend but then they are out of it. I got the warranty in case something needed servicing, I wouldn't have to pay more than a deductible to have a technician come out and the repairs. Now they want to recommend a technician to come out not knowing how much cost is going to be incurred. in trying to use the AFC home warranty, I have found out they don't cover nothing and come up with reasons not to pay for nothing. Stay away from this company unless you want to be scammed and like paying out extra money on top of paying them

claim for heating system denied
I have 4 properties under warranty with AFC Home Club. Had a claim for a $7000 heating system replacement denied due to the unit being too old. Defeats the purpose of having a home warranty if the age of the unit plays a role in payout. After various discussion with the customer service team and AFC Home club legal department, a $500 payment was made. Buyer beware. Better to go with another agency that doesn't discriminate against the age of the unit but has a yearly claim limit instead.

AFC IS THE WORST
This is THE worst company that provides so-called "home warranty" services. First off, there is a 30 day waiting period wherein any claims are denied. Next, there is a $60 "service fee" for initiating a call for service from one of their contractors. Some of these contractors won't even address the situation without first receiving that payment. Next, if the service is "approved" by AFC, the repair, and/or "replacement" of the appliance or system will be "prorated"according to the age of the appliance or system. You will NEVER receive the full amount for a replacement appliance/system. (A bad water heater?.. $150) Here's a sample of one service call I made when my dishwasher wouldn't drain: The first contractor they sent out quickly looked under the sink and told me that the problem was due to an "air gap" not being installed. As I told the "tech", the air gap had NEVER been installed, and was not necessary for the correct operation of the dishwasher. Okay, AFC waived that "contractor's" fee, and called out another one. This genius claimed that my house needed "drain maintenance and cleaning" When I asked him why my other drains worked fine, he was at a loss to explain. (I refused to pay this "contractor") I then called in a contractor myself, who quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty dishwasher drain pump, and I would be better off replacing the unit. (I absorbed his $100 fee) After several emails back-and-forth, AFC finally offered me $150 to replace the dishwasher. Wow, I was underwhelmed, but accepted their offer, which, by-the-way, they would not send me until I had a receipt for a new dishwasher! I could go on and on about their shoddy contractors and service (ask me about my refrigerator ice maker, or leaking faucet and toilet), but I think you get the picture. A TOTAL waste of $1500 for 3 years of grief. LASTLY, be aware that they will attempt to "auto renew" your policy a full month before it expires, unless you send their corporate office a certified letter indicating your cancellation.
This shady outfit has HUNDREDS of legitimate complaints against it. BEWARE!!

Signed up and paid for a premier plan
Signed up and paid for a premier plan. My dishwasher was on the verge of catching on fire and my kitchen was filled with smoke, so in a panic I called my home warranty. I KNOW there is a 30 day waiting period before the plan is in effect. I did not know where we were in that 30 days when I called in a panic, with my kitchen filled with smoke and my smoke alarms going off. The rep took my claim and I asked about the time period, but was told I was outside of the 30 days and the claim would be honored. I received 3 or 4 emails confirming my claim had been submitted, reviewed and was being submitted to technicians. I called after two days and discovered that I was 18 hours short of the 30 days, and the company was not going to cover the issue. I was okay with that, but was then told AFC was going to consider it a pre-existing issue and not cover it at all. I pleaded to management to pull the call and confirm that I had asked about where I was in the 30 days. I continued to receive emails confirming my service request. On the day that my account would have been good, someone claiming to be management called and stated they had reviewed the call and I had never asked about my 30 day period. That is a complete lie. I discovered that the reps taking the inbound service calls are NOT employees, but are independent contractors that work at their homes. This was outrageous to me, as I never authorized anyone but AFC to have my contact or credit information! Also, these independent contractors are clearly poorly trained and monitored, and told me what they thought I wanted to hear, not the correct information, and AFC refused to help me but was happy to take my money.
