I tried for over 30 days to get Adapt Health to fill a prescription for my new CPAC machine from to Mayo Clinic. I faxed my prescription to the correct office (I was told it was the correct office.) No response. I called a number of times. On hold. No return calls. Finally got a response. Wrong office, I am told. So I faxed everything to the new correct office. Waited. E-mailed. Called. Left messages. Finally a nice lady helped me and looked into what the hold-up was about. They needed more information, insurance won't process it. I sent everything again including more information. I waited. I emailed. She returned my email and said "You are good to go. Someone will contact you in a few days." I waited almost 2 weeks. Nothing. In the meantime: I emailed again three times. No response (I was ghosted by the nice lady.) I called my insurance company to see if they had received anything from Adapt Health. No surprise, NOTHING. I emailed my contact lady at Adapt Health and gave her 24 hours to reply. Nothing. I canceled my order with them and switched to another company. My order was processed in one day!
BTW: Adapt Health is in dire financial trouble, I looked it up. Stay clear of them!

Terrible service
Terrible service. When you work with patients on oxygen machines and something breaks down, no matter what time of day it is, it is your responsibility to bring a replacement to that patient as soon as possible. Dispatchers have no idea what the statuses are when you call, to check on updates from previous calls. You have to start from scratch each time you call. Delivering replacements to your clients because of your equipments that break down, which patients are relying on, to breathe, should be handled with utmost urgency and not have dispatchers "email" and "wait for answers" and then finally determine that it will take almost FIVE HOURS to deliver urgently needed machines. This company is not to be trusted and does not handle things with priority that accommodates vulnerable patients. One star is too much.

It was impossible to contact customer…
It was impossible to contact customer service on the phone. I will not spend a minimum of 20 minutes on hold. However Nishal rated 5 stars for his promptness, his pleasant demeaner and his knowledge of the inogen unit.

Do not trust this company
Do not trust this company, their billing department is dishonest and their customer service in billing terrible.
Also, the equipment I was used to ordering has mysteriously disappeared. I am very angry at this company and I urge you to stay away or go elsewhere for CPAP supplies.

Watch them with your credit card
Watch them with your credit card! Their customer service can't give you a straight answer about what a charge is for and seem annoyed when you ask for a written statement and don't just let them charge your credit card.

I'm relatively new to needing medical…
I'm relatively new to needing medical devices. Since I have received my device adjustments needed to be made. The first adjustment in early January 2024 was handled well but not recorded in their system. So since I have received pompous verbage when I tried to explain what I needed. Hopefully today, the 3rd attempt, they have finally sent me what I need and I confirmed it was documented and we all can move on.

I agree 1 star is too high
I agree 1 star is too high. Our local supplier has a local address and phone. Yet every time you call them you are routed to Adapt Health where an “outsourced” person answers. They bully people about non-existent contracts to maintain supplies for CPAP machines that are owned. They make harassing phone calls. I was told by my sleep clinic they receive the least complaints about them. How sad! In my first 99 days of my CPAP and I call to return it. I only have mild apnea and I can’t stand it. I’ve tried two different masks. Instead of being helpful he tries to sell me another new mask. When I make it clear I want to stop usage and return it I’m told I need a “discontinuation prescription” and gives me a fax #. No form. No clue as to which doctor prescribes the discontinuation. Undoubtedly I will continue to get the run around for some time. Use ANYONE else but Adapt Health!!

Let me spare you the frustration
The parties: Adapthealth (NASDAQ: AHCO) and their affiliated companies Lehigh Valley Respiratory Care (Lehigh) and Roberts Home Medical (Roberts).
I will try to break down my experience with this company into different areas of concern.
1. The documents you receive don’t matter.
From the Adapthealth document: Important Information About Your PAP Device & Compliance Guidelines
There are two requirements that must be obtained to show compliance. Adherence to therapy for greater than four (4) hours per night on 70% of the nights (21 nights) during a consecutive thirty (30) day period anytime during the first three (3) months of initial usage. The second requirement is a follow up face to face with your physician to review the download, usage and how you are benefiting from the device.
Successfully complete the 90 days, meet with your doctor and you’re good, right?
Wrong, so very wrong.
Months later I was surprised to learn that the 70% compliance is expected throughout the entire rental period. But if you are non-compliant, they don’t contact you to tell you you’re non-compliant, they simply send you the bill for the rental that they claim they can’t get from your insurer.
There was no rental period listed in the documents I received (I suspect this is because they determine your insurance coverage and want to receive all the benefits your policy offers). Moreover, there is no rental price (again, different insurers will not reimburse at the same levels) so you won’t know what you may be liable for if there is a dispute.
Billing was never straightforward. I would receive bills for a large amount. The online figures didn’t always match what the mailed invoices said. Usually, a phone call was required which would result in the insurance company being billed and me paying the deductible.
2. Unusual activity
I worked with Lehigh for the initial consultation. Lehigh was listed as the provider on insurance claims for the first five months however after a gap, Roberts began to be listed as the provider. The initial start of the rental period then changed from January, 2023 to August 2023 which an Adapthealth representatives claimed reset the rental period.
3. Extremely difficult to get answers from their billing department.
The non-compliance issue led me to a billing dispute. I analyzed their claims and knew that they hadn’t billed my insurer to the extent of the coverage but they refused to research the issue. It was sometime (and many phone calls) later that I even learned that usage compliance extended past the initial 90 days (contrary to their documents).
While I am trying to resolve this, their Asset Recovery department stepped in and sent me a bill for $800. Their badgering phone calls, threats, and heavy-handed tactics try to scare patients into paying for their mistakes.
Ironically, the whole time they kept trying to sell me replacement supplies.
I give high marks to the professional Mike who fitted me for the equipment. But overall, the whole experience left me with the impression they were running some scam. Anyway, thanks for hanging in with my story and hopefully you make a good decision about your provider.
