I was in dire need of a good ankle brace and needed it quick. I chose to order it from Achilles because the quick tie ASO brace was cheapest here but also read the great reviews from others about quality of products, great service and speedy delivery. I have BlackBerry Thumb aggravated by underlying osteoartritis in my hands. I ordered several thumb splints online as the custom-molded one from my doctor was obtrusive, uncomfortable and too restrictive to function in general. I needed to have my thumb immobilized, but not so much of the rest of my hand blocked as well. I work extensively on the computer and the mouse aggravates the arthritis, so I needed to keep the splint on while working, but the hard one from the doctor got in the way. Some of the ones I tried were worthless - they fit way too big and did not stabilize my thumb at all. This one keeps my thumb in a neutral position. If I try to move it toward my index finger, the feel of the fabric, which is soft and comfortable, keeps my thumb from going too far. I have an average size female hand (I wear a size 5 1/2 ring and a size 7 glove), and this fits great in an extra small. Most of the splints I tried only came in a small and I guess that means a men's small because they were way too big on me. This is great for either hand and I just ordered a second one for my other hand. It was cheapest from Achilles Medical and had free shipping. I got it in 2 days! The only negative thing about it is that it has lots of Velcro on it that snags everything. It ruined my favorite scarf and a good sweater the first day, so I have to wear a sock or glove over it with the toes/fingers cut out.
