We first learned of Wyndham when we visited “Broadway on the Beach” in South Carolina in June 2018. We were approached by one of their employees at the visitor’s center and offered discounted tickets to different local attractions if we were to attend a one-hour presentation. We agreed with every intention of making NO purchases. This began with a tour of the Ocean Blvd location where we were told that the only way to stay at a resort of that caliber was to be an owner. No matter how many times we said no, she continued to press upon us all the amazing things that we could experiences as owners; VIP access at Disney World, the bonus points that we would receive, the investment opportunity, and the rental income that we could make. We have since learned that none of this is true! Every time we have tried to use this membership, we have been subject to “owners update meetings”, which are really just more pressure-cooker sales presentations. In each of these situations, we have been subjected to lies, degrading comments when we refuse the demands of their employees, and deceptive sales tactics that have put us in a situation where we now owe this company THOUSANDS of dollars for NOTHING. I cannot believe a publicly-traded company can treat people in this way with no consequences.

Buying my timeshare through this company has been a HUGE mistake. I was not properly informed during the sale about what I was really getting and have complained to WorldMark and have been ignored! The salesman I dealt with promised I would have rental income, which is not possible. He neglected to tell me that I would be stuck paying maintenances fees for the rest of my life. I was lied to about credit reporting and told that the “mortgage” would NEVER be reported to the credit bureaus. I found out that was a lie after my credit score took a significant hit, especially because they ran it TWICE. I also found an additional account on my credit because the salesman opened a credit line (separate from the mortgage) WITHOUT MY CONSENT!! This “investment” has turned in to a catastrophic financial burden.

I tried to book a reservation online last Wednesday and discovered my account was locked due to an overdue payment. So I tried to call the number as instructed on the website and was on hold for over two hours before I gave up. This went on for a few days then I received a letter stating I needed to make a payment. Quite ironic since I had been trying for several days and unable to get through to make the payment. As an owner since 1997 I am extremely disappointed with Worldmark. Having to wait on the phone for upwards of two hours with no explanation of the long wait times is unacceptable. After six days of calling every day and being on hold for up to two hours I finally got through. I was told that wait time was up to three hours. If this is a known problem Worldmark could have notified its owners with a phone message and on their website. But I guess they don't value our time. I paid my balance and three days later I still did not have access to book online. I called and was told they had to submit a form to reactivate my account. It seems ridiculous that that wasn't done three days ago when I paid my bill. I was also told it may take 3 to 5 business days to remove the late payment notice on my account. Again, Worldmark is not considerate of my time. To top it off they are also calling me to buy more credits, seems like they should concentrate on taking care of their current customers instead of asking me if I need more credits when I have told them a 100 times that I currently have enough. Wyndham like most other large corporations is destroying the culture that began with TrendWest, their greed for more money and providing less customer service is apparent. I can and no longer recommend them to anyone until they clean their act up. I also want to mention that the new website is poorly constructed, it is more of an advertisement to get you to buy credits and is not customer friendly. For example, many resorts require you book 13 months out otherwise you will not get a reservation. When you go to look at availability the new website does not give you the option to enter a date. Instead you have to click the arrow to advance a whole year which takes multiple clicks. They also removed the resort drop down menu, now you have to search for the resort you want to book which again takes more time. I cant imagine how a multi-million dollar company cannot develop a website that is intuitive and user friendly. They went from a website that wasn't that great to one that is very bad. I hope they did not pay too much to whom ever developed this website. Maybe increasing call wait times is part of their plan to drive customers to the website? Either way they will be wasting more of my time. I will be retiring in 10 years and was looking at purchasing more time in a few years. Looks like I will be spending my money elsewhere.

DO NOT BUY INTO WORLDMARK!!! My brother passed away in May, his contact was paid off but was getting bills for fees. Talked to them, sent paperwork. was told to ignore bills and that it wouldn't go to collections. Guess what - THEY TURNED THE ACCOUNT IN TO TWO DIFFERENT COLLECTION AGENTS. Awful company, waste of time and money.

I have never been so disappointed with a company as I have been with Wyndham. I expected that my husband and I would be told the truth and get what we paid for, especially from such a large, well-known company. Unfortunately, this is not what happened. The staff is aggressive, and they will tell all sorts of tall tales if it means they make a commission. The presentations are not an hour or so long. Expect to be there for a minimum of 4 hours. If they promise you access to Disney World resorts, it’s a lie. When they say that you can will the timeshare to your family, keep in mind that they will be responsible for the high fees associated with the timeshare. During an upgrade presentation, we were told that a $9,000 deposit would be refunded to us, but we never saw that money again. Interest rates and total costs are never disclosed. Nothing was done properly or truthfully. Don’t let these scammers take your money. We have dealt with physical symptoms of the stress this situation has caused and would never want anyone else to go through the same thing.

WorldMark has been a constant problem for us as owners. It saddens me to say that my wife and I have had fewer positive experiences than negative ones, despite the outrageous amount of money we have spent. Since 2013, we have made seven different purchases. We made these purchases because every time we voiced a concern with our ownership, the answer was to upgrade. Unfortunately, this did not solve anything. Each upgrade brought new promises of increased availability, yet we have always had an extremely difficult time making reservations at the more popular resorts. We were enticed by promises of investment possibilities. We’d be afforded the ability to rent our unit, however, with certain policy changes, this became an extreme challenge. This was also to be a personal investment that allowed us to save drastically versus paying for a vacation without a membership. I have done the math and with all our stays and how much we have paid; it works out to be about $650 per night. This is what WorldMark wants me to pass down to my children- a lifetime of debt and vacations that do not live up to the level of luxury or value we are paying for.

I would like to write this to give positive feedback on Shell Vacations/Wyndham, but I can’t. Unfortunately, my wife and I have not had a good experience with Wyndham and its representatives since it purchased Shell. Since the early 2000’s, we have made multiple purchases of Shell points, but since Wyndham's takeover, we have dealt with more and more unprofessional representatives and been misled repeatedly. We had been told for a while that we should convert to Wyndham points as Shell was losing properties and fees were rising. We were told that once the conversion program was operational, we could make a profit through a buy-back program. In 2019, we bought Wyndham points and were told that they, along with our Shell points, could be used to offset maintenance fees. Most of this turned out to be untrue. We decided not to convert. The merger with Wyndham has changed the program so much that everything we have invested has been degraded. The resorts are not well maintained, we are pressured by salespeople to upgrade, maintenance fees are extravagant, and everything is about making money instead of caring for their owners.
