We plant Wood Prairie Farm potatoes and get great results in our home gardens using the fertilizer they also offer. The varieties of potatoes are a lot to choose from and we always enjoy perusing the hand drawn catalogs for our selections. Unusual and beautiful varieties! I would highly recommend all of Wood Prairie Farm products and thank their dedication in orgnanic agriculture.

Jane, thanks for your Review, and glad our seed is doing well for you. Thirty years ago we were selling potatoes, squash and beets to a local organic baby food company. We conducted on-farm experiments and proved to ourselves that sufficient fertility is important not only for yield but also quality and maturity. Having some sacks of organic fertilizer on hand allow one to perform simple experiments. On a uniform plot (minimize variabilities) add organic fertilizer to half the plot, but not the other half. Comparing results one can prove to oneself whether it was worth the cost/effort. Most gardens can use a helping hand. Jim

This is my first year trying Wood Prairie Farm Potatoes - the plants look great! Had a couple with problem plants. Contacted Wood Prairie and they immediately helped me out. Looking forward to digging up the potatoes to see how they did. I haven't had luck with potatoes in previous years from other suppliers

Glad to get your report, Jo. Maine has been getting a dry Summer, so it's a good time to think about water. 'Tuber Bulking' occurs after blossom-drop and it's important to keep plants from getting thirsty. Potatoes like 1-1.5" rain/week. If the skies are not delivering, irrigation is recommended. Caleb

You can't buy seed potatoes any where else like I get from Wood Prairie Family Farm. Butte is the best potato I've ever had.
Response from Wood Prairie Family FarmJul 26, 2018
Bob, Butte is also a favorite of ours as well, and we're one of the last farmers left in the United States to grow it as Certified Seed. We've been growing Butte for over 25 years. For years I've said that if I were stranded on a desert island and allowed one potato to grow, workhorse Butte would be on the short list. Jim

Happy I finally found an organic seed company like Wood Prairie Family Farm. Every portion of potato I planted came up and the growth was robust. The harvest has been amazing!

Thanks for the nice Review, Susan. We're blessed in Northern Maine to have the perfect soil and cool climate to grow the most vigorous organic seed potatoes. Especially south of us one will notice the benefits of Northern vigor. Jim
