I work in tech as a QA, and I found it very difficult to do the legwork for sending out invitations.
- It's annoying that an email is necessary over a phone number.
- Setting up groups and giving people plus 1s was not very straightforward. I ended up getting a lot of duplications in my guest list.
- Creating a gift registry felt limited because adding your own stuff has a lot of bugs. It's a feature my husband and I spent a lot of time trying to get to work. Its a great idea but it would be easier to create separate registries and to give a link to guests.
We loved that it was easy to collect people's dietary restrictions and that it was pretty easy to send out information like where to park to every guest the day before. We appreciated all the free options for e-invitations and how easy they were to customize.
I would recommend it to other couples. All in all, we found it helpful but just wish things took a little less time to configure and had more help instructions. Adding tooltips everywhere would go a long way.

customer service sludge
Email/chat conversation with JOY for hotel reservation change sounded promising initially. There is no phone help available. For the past week, they tell me they are working on it, they will make the request with their booking partner. Then they tell me it's done. Yet, the hotel manager, who was helpful, tells me it's not done. There are at least 2 other parties in between me and the hotel. They both tell me the other party needs to put the change through and the result is nothing. The hotel tells us they could change it but they need to be sure the booking company will pay them. Long story short it, it was a journey thru sludge, the modern phenomena of customer service being so time consuming that you finally give up. It did finally got done so I'm adding a star.

Good for tracking, but confusing and unclear.
It's a good app to track the guests list and easy to create the invitation.
However, the app is not easy to navigate and it's quite confusing to look for the section which I want to see and edit. It's not clear in showing how is the view of the guest when we share the link with them. Additionally, we are not sure whether there's a need to collect the email address of the guest to activate the reminder email as it seems like the website auto activated the reminder email even without us needing to click any buttons for it.
Perhaps, may add a music feature which may elevate the experience of guest while viewing the online invitation to give a personal touch.

Overall Positive - Some work needed
Overall, with joy does what I needed to do. I was looking for a website that I could generate a wedding website with, as well as send digital invitations while keeping track of RSVPs all in one place. I would caution that the user interface for the wedding website is a little frustrating. I would also flag that the RSVP tracking is not as good as it could be - when it comes to making changes, editing tags, etc. the UI has significant room for improvement.

Still using it currently so I don't have a fully formed opinion yet so I started with a 4 of 5 rating. I dropped to a 3 of 5 because of the lack of customizable options for the way each page is layed out. It also never leaves me signed in unless I am actively using it, which is frustrating to constantly have to sign back in.

I am planning a 20 year renewal of vows, not a wedding. The templates are so set, there is no creativity to it at all. It was incredibly difficult to get the stock photos out and mine in. There is still one photo in the app that has a girl that looks remarkably like me snuggling a man who looks nothing like my husband. There for all the world and I can’t get rid of it.
In disappointed, but it was free.
I don’t like that I can’t turn off certain features like finding a place to stay. The RSVP didn’t let individuals choose their own menu, only as a group. The guest list was very hard to get the standard guests off.

Great Concept, Frustrating Execution: WithJoy Falls Short on Usability
I really wanted to like WithJoy because the core idea is great. The website looks nice, the initial setup is straightforward, and it’s impressive that features like the wedding website, RSVPs, guest list, invitations, and hotel booking are all available in one platform.
Unfortunately, once I got beyond the initial setup, I found the user experience much more frustrating than I expected.
The biggest issue was guest management. After sending my first round of save the dates, I needed to add more people to the invitation. I expected this to be simple, but I couldn’t find a way to add them to the existing campaign and instead had to create and send another batch. Tracking who had already received an invitation also wasn’t intuitive—I found myself clicking through multiple pages to figure out who had been sent one instead of having a simple “not yet invited” or delta view.
The platform also hides important settings throughout different menus. Something as basic as enabling or disabling website pages took much longer than it should have because those options weren’t where I expected them. Before I felt comfortable publishing the site, I spent hours going through settings just to make sure nothing I didn’t want was visible. What should have taken an hour ended up taking closer to five.
Another frustration was the save-the-date workflow for couples. If only one member of a couple has an email address, the save the date is sent only to that person and doesn’t clearly indicate that both people are invited. We ended up getting questions from guests because it wasn’t obvious whether their partner was included.
I also didn’t realize until much later that the free digital invitations and save-the-date features were available. That capability wasn’t surfaced clearly during setup and feels like something that should be highlighted much earlier.
Overall, WithJoy has a solid foundation, but many of the workflows feel unintuitive and require digging through settings or working around limitations that shouldn’t exist.
I’d recommend it if you already have a complete guest list with everyone’s contact information and plan to do everything in one pass. If you expect your guest list to evolve over time or prefer software that makes common tasks obvious and flexible, be prepared for a steeper learning curve than the polished interface suggests.
