Customer support for the registry product is lacking
My husband and I used Joy to create a website and registry for our one-year wedding anniversary party, and the registry included multiple cash funds. On May 28, my aunt contributed $100 to one of our cash funds using a debit card. On June 29, she happened to mention this gift to me. I checked our Joy account and couldn’t find any gifts from her, so I contacted Joy support. On July 1, a support agent confirmed that Joy had charged my aunt $100 and that we had not received this gift. He told us that the team was investigating and that he would update us “within 1-2 business days.” By July 16, Joy had neither refunded my aunt nor delivered our gift. My aunt and I had followed up with Joy support every couple days, and each time they had either requested additional information (which we provided multiple times) or asked us to wait two more business days (though they usually failed to update us within this timeline). In total, we had exchanged 37 emails with four different support agents. We asked for a phone number to call, but Joy did not provide one. At this point, I posted a one-star Trustpilot review and reached out to an executive at Joy via LinkedIn. The executive replied on July 19, finally connecting us with a support leader who could help. By July 21, her team processed our gift. She also apologized for our poor experience and reassured us that the engineering team had found the toor cause of the issue and had resolved it for the handful of other couples who were affected. The support we received from Joy leadership in the last few days was excellent, but I’m not sure whether our issue ever would have been resolved if we hadn’t shared our experience on Trustpilot and reached out to an executive. We really enjoyed building our anniversary party website with Joy and using it to manage our invitations, but I can’t recommend the registry product given the current state of customer support. Users should be able to receive efficient and effective support (especially when money is involved) without having to make a fuss, and I hope that the Joy team will work towards this goal.
