Overcharged for accommodation, lack of response to queries
I booked accommodation through Joy website . The final invoice I got from the hotel was 51 euro less than what Joy charged me. The hotel told me that Joy must have charged a commission on the booking. If so, they should have disclosed it and make it transparent in the process of booking. I wrote to Joy twice seeking clarification, but never heard back fy them. Joy should fully disclose the price of the actual price of accommodation and what Joy charges for the booking. Also, ignoring queries doesn't appear to be good practice

What should have been a simple…
What should have been a simple “arriving one day late due to a flight cancellation” turned into one of the most frustrating customer service experiences we have ever dealt with.
After our flight was canceled due to maintenance issues, we responsibly contacted BOTH Crystal Coast Oceanfront Hotel and Joy Travel Concierge to notify them that we would simply be arriving one day late.
The hotel understood this perfectly when we spoke with them directly.
Unfortunately, after we separately contacted Joy with the exact same information, a Joy representative apparently contacted the hotel and incorrectly informed them that we would not be arriving at all.
That incorrect communication from Joy caused the hotel to cancel our ENTIRE reservation.
Had Joy not miscommunicated our status to the hotel, none of this would have happened.
So after an already stressful travel disruption, we arrived at the property only to discover:
* our reservation had been canceled,
* our original room was no longer available,
* and we were forced to scramble with hotel staff for accommodations because of a mistake created by the booking intermediary itself.
We were ultimately downgraded from the king room we originally booked and paid for.
To the hotel manager’s credit, she acknowledged the situation, waived parking fees because of the inconvenience, and informed us she would approve a refund for the unused first night.
Then the situation became even more concerning.
After weeks of follow-ups, Joy Travel Concierge informed us in writing that:
* the hotel had “denied” the refund request,
* the booking was considered “completed,”
* and “no funds could be released.”
However, shortly afterward, we received an official refund receipt directly from the hotel confirming that a refund transaction for $197.20 had already been processed.
So naturally we asked:
If the hotel processed the refund, where did the money go?
Because the hotel’s documentation directly contradicts what Joy representatives told us.
At this point, this no longer feels like simple customer service confusion. It feels like a serious breakdown in communication, accountability, and transparency between Joy, Expedia, and their booking partners.
Travel disruptions happen. Mistakes happen.
But customers should not have to:
* investigate where refunded money ended up,
* receive contradictory explanations,
* or suffer the consequences of internal communication failures caused by the company itself.
We are now requesting escalation with leadership because the handling of this situation has been completely unacceptable.

Very inflexible with travel bookings
Very inflexible with travel bookings. I was 30 days from the event and 2 days past a deadline and needed to change a booking date. JOY’s response was basically “No. You are past the deadline. No refunds.” Very unwilling to help if you have any changes 30 days in advance, Joy is no help.

As a guest for an up and coming wedding…
As a guest for an up and coming wedding in August, I booked accomodation through Joy. They provide a list of accomodation close to the wedding venue and you can book through them at a special rate.
In March I booked accomodation at a B&B which advertised its facilities including parking. When the confirmation came through from Joy, it showed the detail which mentioned that parking was available locally @£1.50/hour off site.
This was not acceptable to me as both my wife and I are disabled pensioners. Paying for parking some distance from the B&B was not only going to be expensive, but we would have difficulty walking to it from the accomodation. It was totally unsuitable for us.
I immediatly tried to cancel the booking, but could not find any means of contacting the B&B. Staff at Joy were unable to provide contact details or indeed contact them themselves. I eventually found a number on the internet, but when I phoned, I ended uo getting scammed out of a lot of money. Fortunately, my bank was able to prevent further money being stolen from my account.
Joy have been of no help trying to cancel and refund the booking fee.
I booked through them, and the money I paid was to them, I would expect them to refund the money for the booking. I strongly believe that the B&B was in fact bogus and possibly a front for scammers.
I have tried contacting Joy on numerous occasions, but I think they have blocked me and refuse to respond to my emails.
I am not impressed by their service or customer care.

My only wedding regret
My only regret looking back on my wedding was picking With Joy as my registry. More than half the items on my registry that my guests purchased for us were out of stock at the time of purchase and have remained out of stock for almost a year now, leaving us with over $1k in credit. This would be fine, except the options on the website are already incredibly limited. The search function is highly unreliable, and customer service is non-existent. There is no one you can call and speak with and they take weeks to respond to online inquiries and when they do, they're incredibly unhelpful. The prices for items listed on With Joy are often SIGNIFICANTLY more than retail price. We were looking at a vacuum that can be purchased from numerous other retailers online for between $300-450 and its over $600 on With Joy. The entire website is a scam. DO NOT USE!!!

Website is awful
Website is awful. So upset I have already added my qr to my invitations before checking it worked properly. Guests are sending an rsvp but the website doesn’t tell me what the rsvp is so I’m having to contacts each guest. I have to manually change the guests to attending. I done a test myself and it does have the options to choose, attending or not attending even when I have added those questions. I click on rsvp tracking and it says 0 attending even when there’s is at least 10 showing attending right below it. My guests have commented it’s not user friendly and I’m just gutted I have chosen it. Completely ruined and stressed me out trying to get my guest attendance.
