Good value
I’ve received 3 shipments so far and have been very happy with the quality and quantity of meats. For those used to purchasing meats from Whole Foods there won’t be sticker shock because I think the prices are comparable. My base box is the beef and pork 15 lb box and I get a few add-ons. I appreciate the ability to substitute even if the items from which to choose for swapping are limited. Because different cuts of meats are priced differently, you may not get 15 lbs if you opt to substitute. There have been packages of meats that leaked in my fridge when defrosting. This is mentioned on the website and is attributed to the dry ice. I guess the extreme cold of the dry ice can damage the plastic packaging and cause small holes. Now I just make sure there’s something under the package of meat when defrosting to catch any potential leaks. Other minor issues: Shaved beef is a bit too thickly sliced for Philly cheese steaks or Korean bulgogi, I used it for shredded beef instead. Steak cuts sometimes are not always “pretty” as you’d find at Whole Foods; dangling end pieces, uneven edges non-uniform borders of fat etc. I will continue my subscription with WildPastures because I trust their regenerative farming practices makes a difference in the health of the animals and environment. This benefit is ultimately passed to the folks that consume these animals. Regenerative farming practices don’t come cheap, so the prices I pay are for the health benefits from consuming these meats and also to help support these farmers.

Hi there, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. We're thrilled to hear that you've been happy with the quality and quantity of your meats, and that our pricing feels fair—especially coming from a Whole Foods shopper! We really appreciate your flexibility with substitutions and totally understand that the weight may vary slightly based on cut values. Your note about packaging during defrosting is also spot-on—dry ice can sometimes cause micro-tears, and we always recommend placing thawing meats on a plate or tray just in case. Thank you as well for the feedback on the shaved beef and steak cuts—we’ll be sure to share that with our team. While our focus is always on quality and sourcing from regenerative farms, we know presentation matters too, and your insights help us improve. It means the world to us that you're supporting regenerative farming and the mission behind what we do. We’re so grateful to have you as part of the Wild Pastures community! —The Wild Pastures Team
