I've always had thin hair but there was a lot of it so it didn't matter. When it started to fall out, though, and Rogaine stopped working for me, I knew I'd have to get a wig sooner or later. My first order at wigs.com wasn't right for me but when I reordered, I bought two, both Raquel Welch, a Crowd Pleaser, and an Opening Act, both in Honey Ginger, RL14/25, and the color was exactly the color I have always had. In the summer my hair lightens to R25, and I bought some hair pieces to match both shades and also got two pieces from Christie Brinkley that matched both. Then I went to work and finally, after a few weeks, I got the hang of it. Now I wear one or the other of the hair pieces almost every day and all of the pieces still look brand new. The big thing for me was getting the wigs to stay on, since I still have quite a lot of my own hair and can go outside in a pinch with lots of spray and clips. I finally cut the metal clips out of the wigs since they were too bulky, and I use a little wig tape and hair pins instead. And on days when the wig feels too loose, I have a few pretty headbands that do the trick. The one piece of advice I can give is this: If you think you need a wig, or will need one, don't wait until the last minute to buy one! I got very frustrated in the beginning, but because I wasn't under the gun to make sure everything look perfect, I took my time until it was. For me the most important feature was the color, and I found it with Raquel Welch. And done properly, the synthetic wigs and pieces look just as nice and natural as the human hair ones and you can get a lot more for your money! I'm a customer for life, and now I can say that's a very good thing.
