We are sorry that you are not happy with this order. There were 36 fragrances in your recent order. Out of those 36 fragrances, you have only tried 3 of them from us before. The remaining 33 fragrances were being tested by you for the first time. It is important to keep in mind that each fragrance is going to perform differently because it is a different fragrance with a different composition of notes. Fragrances contain several different fragrance notes, and they are all going to have different reactions with your skin. Fragrances also perform differently depending on the temperature and humidity and whether your skin is dry or oily. There are many factors involved that have nothing to do with quality. Some of the fragrances you ordered might smell powdery because of the composition of the scent. Anais Anais Type for example is a reproduction of a fragrance from 1978 and a lot of the perfumes that came out in 1978 are very powdery smelling scents. It contains around 15 different floral notes which is excessive but that is how a lot of fragrances from that time were. We also find it odd that you tried 18 scents before these and as you said, the quality seemed great. Now most, if not all smell the same? We are not having any issues with the quality of our products. Each batch is tested thoroughly, and our manufacturers are experienced and reputable. We are quite puzzled as to why your experience this time was not the same as the previous two times (even with ordering mostly different fragrances). I will be sending an email to you as well to get some more information. We know every single fragrance isn’t going to be a hit for every single person. However, this is unusual and not the typical feedback we receive. I also wanted to mention that our website has several avenues to contact us and advise us of any issues. On our information page, there are phone numbers listed for calling/texting and an email address listed. There is also a chat box on the bottom left corner of the website that says “Contact Us”. You have used it in the past to contact us and received an answer from us within a few hours.

To summarize the issue at hand, you had contacted us via text message on November 16th asking where your order was and pasted links for the tracking. This was the first time we were aware of any issue with your order. USPS does not inform us when they are returning packages. We could not call you regarding this issue since we were not aware of it until you contacted us. Upon checking the tracking information, we see that USPS processed a return on November 15th. USPS’ reason for the return was “Insufficient Address”. We confirmed the address details with you and discovered that USPS is sending this package back in error. We explained that we have sadly seen this before with USPS and that it is shameful the way USPS conducts business. When this has happened to other customer's shipments in the past, we just turn the package back around on the same shipping label. If we create a new shipping label or shipment, the funds paid for the original label are just lost since USPS rarely provides shipping refunds even when they are blatantly wrong. We explained that we would be turning your package around when we received it. When you asked when that would be, we were transparent about the fact that it was tough to guess since USPS is in complete control over when this will happen. The location of the package on the tracking was about 2 hours away from us so we had guessed it would arrive back in the next few days. However, the package still has not arrived back here to date. Your last text before the call was sent to us on Friday night after normal business hours. When we received your call today, it was difficult to offer an explanation or solution as you did not seem willing to listen to anything we had to say. We did not say that “UPS lost the order” we explained that it must have been misplaced since it should have been delivered by now. We also explained that we put in a missing mail search with USPS so they would be searching for the package now or investigating what has happened to it. There is only so much berating and abuse we are willing to take. We have provided solutions – Once the package arrives back here, we will ship it back out to you since USPS should not have returned it in the first place. The package has not arrived back here yet so we cannot turn it back around until it does. If the package is determined to be lost (it will be considered lost on December 1st by our shipping insurance), we will file a claim so that we can issue a full refund. We have had further communication with you today where we explained what will happen when we file an insurance claim. Sending out a replacement shipment was not an option in this case since the order was custom made just for you and the shipping funds have already been paid to USPS. We had no idea that USPS would compound one blunder with another by taking so long to return the package. We have taken all the steps available to us to resolve this as quickly as possible but unfortunately, there are factors beyond our control that require a little time and patience. We use USPS because we have to (for PO Boxes, APO addresses etc.) but their customer service is awful and we try to steer all of our customers away from using them. Again, we are very sorry that this happened, and we are doing everything we can to correct USPS’ negligence. We have shipped several orders to you since last year and there has not been an issue with any previous orders.

We are very transparent about the fact that our body oils and ALL body oils for that matter contain a carrier oil. Carrier oils are a necessary ingredient in a Body Oil to make it safe to use on skin. It is not safe to wear a pure/neat essential oil or fragrance on the skin. Carrier oils also help to keep the fragrance from evaporating quickly from the skin’s surface. Your initial contact with us was via text message where you expressed that you wanted the fragrances to be dark in color and not diluted. We called you upon receiving this text to explain that fragrances naturally vary in color depending on their ingredients or dyes and that all body oils, including ours, are diluted with a carrier oil. We spent some time going over the colors of the fragrances in your order. We mentioned that 4 of the fragrances are either light or medium strength fragrances. Some fragrances are strong while others are more subtle, and this is very subjective since we perceive scents differently. We also explained that we do not add thickening chemicals to the oils to make them thick (this is a cheap cutting agent that serves no purpose in a fragrance). We then strongly recommended that you try our free sample offer first to make sure that you like our version of the fragrances and offered to hold or cancel the order. You demanded that we ship your original order ASAP. We received a call from you yesterday (June 30th) at around 2:30pm. The call started off with you aggressively shouting, “I WANT MY MONEY BACK” multiple times. It took about a minute for us to get a word in to ask your name or order number so we could look up your order. Upon looking up your order, we see that it was only delivered 2 hours prior to your call. It usually takes more than 2 hours to fully evaluate 6 fragrances. It is difficult to smell a fragrance while it is in a plastic bottle. They are best evaluated when applied to skin and given some time to dry down through the fragrance notes. We tried to have a conversation, but this was impossible as we could not get a word in between your shouting and repetitious sentences. We did everything we could to ensure that you would be happy with this order and offered to send samples first. From the beginning of our contact, it seemed like you were looking for a specific thing that we do not offer (undiluted oils that are all dark in color). Although we explained this at length before shipping your order, you insisted that we ship your order as it was right away.

We are very taken aback by this review as we have not done business with you since December of 2020 and have not had any contact from you since February of 2021. We are unsure where this is coming from as this appears to be the first and only time you have ever had a problem with anything you have ordered from us. Orders placed prior to August 2014 have been archived in an old system so I am unable to see if you have placed orders before 2014. The records we can see show a total of 4 orders from 2016 to 2020. I only see one order with Egyptian Musk and it was the order from December 2020 – a 4oz size. It would appear that you have not ordered our version of this fragrance at all before or it was ordered prior to 2014. Your reviews also mention 16oz bottles and you did not order any 16oz bottles from us on those 4 orders. I only mention that as hopefully this review is supposed to be for us and not another company. It would not be the first time we have received reviews that were supposed to be for another company. It is important to mention that there is no original Egyptian Musk fragrance. This means that it is open to interpretation and any perfumer who makes it can create an entirely different version from the next perfumer who makes it. Fragrances that have no original will have several different versions of it being sold under the same name. Being familiar with one version of it does not necessarily mean you are familiar with them all since they can be totally different fragrances. We completely agree with your suggestion (on another review website) to get samples and we also recommend that our customers do this – especially with fragrances like this one. Our Egyptian Musk has always been a light, clean fragrance and has never been strong or brown in color. Our fragrance manufacturers are members of the IFRA (International Fragrance Association) and there have been some slight changes to the fragrances over the years. Phthalates were removed in 2015 and allergens are either replaced with a similar alternative or are used in smaller percentages. These changes have been for the better but there is a possibility that a fragrance is slightly different from what it once was several years ago. Another very important note is that an UNCUT Body Oil does not exist. The word “uncut” implies that it contains only fragrance and nothing else. The only truly uncut form of fragrance out there would be an Essential Oil. Essential Oils are base essences and they cannot be applied neat or straight on the skin without being diluted or “cut”. If you were to use an undiluted Essential Oil, it would have a very good chance of burning your skin or causing irritation. The fragrance also would evaporate quickly and not stick around very long. Fragrance molecules are volatile so without a carrier oil or fixative for the fragrance to hold on to, the scent would disappear as the molecules evaporate. We have never claimed that our oils are uncut and have always been very transparent with our customers about this. Unfortunately, we do not have a call recording from our last conversation and it is difficult to remember details from 8 to 10 months ago. The only details we can see is that you called in almost 2 months after receiving the order to file a complaint. Our return policy is posted on our information page. Our information page also mentions that discrepancies with an order should be reported within 3 business days of receipt to ensure no tampering has occurred. This time limit is also so we can ensure that improper storage isn’t a factor and so we can test the current batch for quality control. It is unfortunate when disagreements arise from a misunderstanding in policy and we apologize if our policies were unclear. Disagreeing with a policy does not make it wrong and it is not rude or unprofessional to explain our policies and everything mentioned above. Fragrances are highly subjective and there are so many variables and factors involved. We hope you have a better day and are able to find the version of Egyptian Musk that you prefer.
